Chapter 151
Adam always believed his mother without question. If she said he could be cured, then he would be.
He imagined that once he got better, he could go to school, run around, and never have to worry about anything again. The thought made him feel overjoyed.
Skylar sent a message to Yosef, telling him that the child wanted to go to the amusement park with them.
Yosef had been looking for an excuse to ask her out anyway.
Just as he was about to go to sleep, his son handed him a golden opportunity.
Yosef: [Sure. What day are you thinking of? I’ll arrange it and clear my schedule.]
Skylar checked the weather forecast. Tomorrow would be a nice day, not too hot or cold. It would be perfect for going out.
She sent him the exact time and meeting location.
Yosef, reading her message on his tablet, messaged Hudson. [Check what I’ve got scheduled for tomorrow.]
Hudson sent over his itinerary.
Yosef glanced at it and typed: [Cancel the dinner appointments. Let the VP handle the meetings. You assist him.]
Hudson: [Got it, Mr. Campbell.]
The next morning, Yosef arrived at the amusement park half an hour early. He stood under the shade of a tree, waiting for Skylar and her son.
“Mister, would you like to buy a flower?” A little girl holding a bunch of single–stem roses approached a rich man and asked, “My roses are fresh, Just one?”
The man, glued to his phone, waved her off impatiently. “No.”
The little girl asked several more people. A few inquired about the price. It was five dollars per rose. They shook their heads and walked away.
The little girl bit her lip, disappointed, and looked toward Yosef.
Seeing her approach, Yosef initially planned to refuse, but suddenly remembered something a few friends had said.
The little girl was a bit scared of him. His cold expression made him seem unapproachable.
But she’d already asked many people without selling a single flower.
She had heard there would be family and couple activities at the park today, so she came hoping to make some money selling lowers. She hadn’t expected it to be this hard.
She held the flowers tightly and approached hesitantly. “Mister… would you like to buy a flower?”
Her voice trembled, eyes glued to her shoes. She didn’t dare look up at him.
Yosef took out his phone. “I’ll buy them all. How much?”
She looked up nervously. “All of them?”
Yosef nodded. “Yes.”
Chapter 151
The girl quickly counted the roses in her arms. “Thirty in total… 150 dollars. I’ll give you a discount, 100 dollars.
It was her first sale of the day, and such a big one. She wanted to give him a good deal.
“No need.” He scanned her payment code. “I’ll pay 200 dollars. Please have them wrapped into one big bouquet*
Carrying them one by one would be inconvenient and messy.
He hadn’t planned to buy flowers today. If he’d known, he would’ve pre–ordered. But it was too late for that now.
Fortunately, the roses were fresh and large. They looked decent enough.
The girl’s eyes sparkled. She nodded eagerly. “Of course! My mom’s nearby. I’ll get her to help me wrap them up nicely.”
She ran back to her mom’s stall nearby, had her add a few more roses, and wrapped them into a big bouquet before delivering them to Yosef
Standing there with the large bouquet, Yosef attracted more attention than the flowers themselves.
Not far away, two girls nudged each other.
Finally, one of them, blushing, walked over slowly, holding her phone.
“Hi,” she greeted softly.
Yosef frowned slightly but didn’t respond.
The girl didn’t dare look at him, so she missed the coldness in his eyes. Her voice was timid. “I was wondering… could we add each other on Instagram?”
“No.” A soft little voice behind them interrupted.
Adam was pulling his mother along and squeezed between his father and the girl. With his other hand, he reached for his dad’s hand.
Adam said, “Sorry, miss, but Daddy already has Mommy. If he adds you, Mommy will be unhappy.”
He looked up at her, neck straining, then dropped his head for a quick rest before lifting it again. “If Mommy’s unhappy, I will be unhappy too.”
Skylar covered her face with her hand, feeling somewhat awkward.
She and Yosef were legally married but had no emotional relationship. She wouldn’t care at all.
Still, Adam’s baby–voiced protest didn’t come across as rude.
The girl knew Adam meant no harm, but still couldn’t stop her cheeks from burning.
She had seen the bouquet in Yosef’s hands and told her friend he was probably taken. But her friend insisted she go try anyway.
She tried to suppress the embarrassment and apologized, “I’m so sorry. I didn’t know he had a wife and child. I real
After apologizing, she ran off, dragging her friend with her like she was fleeing a monster.
Adam, having successfully ward off his dad’s admifer, let out a sigh of relief.
He was not too happy. “Daddy, next time you go out, remember to wear a mask.”
His daddy was too good–looking. He easily attracted attention.
in’t mean to bother you.”
If he ran off with another lady, that would ruin his whole plan to get his mommy and daddy back together. That was unacceptable.
Yosef chuckled, reaching out to pinch his son’s cheek. “Now you’re managing Daddy too?”
Chapter 151
Adam’s face was squished round and flat. Annoyed, he grabbed his dad’s hand and scolded him fiercely, “Why not?*
He hugged his dad’s hand to his chest to stop him from messing with his face again.
“Daddy, are the flowers for Mommy?” Adam hadn’t noticed them before because he was too angry, but now he saw the bouquet and grinned.
Yosef glanced at Skylar, gauging her reaction.
Skylar looked confused. She didn’t recall their relationship being the kind where roses or flirty gestures made sense.
Seeing she wasn’t rejecting the idea outright, Yosef’s eyes lit up faintly. He handed the bouquet over. “They’re for you.”
Skylar was stunned for a moment and didn’t take them.
“Don’t you like roses?” Yosef asked,
“Yosef, what are you trying to do?” Skylar kept her tone mild, not wanting to speak too harshly in front of their child. “Thank you for the gesture, but don’t need them,”
Yosef sighed inwardly. He still failed.
He didn’t insist and explained calmly, “A flower girl came by to sell them. She hadn’t sold any, so I thought I’d help her make a sale.”
He added, “Giving them to you just made sense. Flowers suit women better. I look pretty strange holding them, don’t you think?”
Hearing that, Skylar actually felt relieved and said casually, “You’re kinder than you look.”
Yosef didn’t respond, changing the subject instead. “I already bought our tickets online. We can go in directly now.”
