Yosef sneered coldly. “He just wants to use the wave of public opinion to catch me in a mistake, so the board will remove me and he can take my place.”
Hudson said, “Ms. Stone’s reputation isn’t great right now. If you really get engaged to her, the company will definitely be affected. I suppose that’s exactly what Aaron is counting on.”
He continued, “If you don’t get engaged to Ms. Stone, he can still use that to stir up trouble and smear you. If your reputation gets ruined, the company will take the hit too.”
Yosef gave him an approving glance. “Not bad.”
Hudson asked, “So whether we move forward or back out, it’s a no–win situation. What should we do?”
Yosef smiled faintly. “Let’s play along for now. Let him grow complacent. Then, when the moment is right, we’ll deliver the finishing blow.”
Hudson nodded.
Meanwhile, at home, Elianna was reading the online articles, feeling uneasy. “What if Yosef gets angry? Wouldn’t that just backfire on me?”
She wanted to message him to test his attitude, but hesitated for a long time without sending anything.
After some thought, she called Aaron. “Are you sure this will really work?”
Aaron spoke in his usual lazy tone. “Relax. Even if he doesn’t want to get engaged to you, now he has no choice.”
“But what if he gets mad?” Elianna was still scared. She didn’t want to be hated by Yosef because of this.
She still needed to rely on him in the future and couldn’t afford to offend him.
Aaron asked, “Ms. Stone, don’t tell me you actually like Yosef?”
Elianna’s expression turned cold. “What do you mean?”
Aaron sneered. “You don’t love him. You love the title of CEO’s wife of Campbell Group, don’t you?”
Aaron had seen the ambition in her eyes the very first time they met. That was also why he had chosen to cooperate with her.
Elianna said, “So what if I do?”
Aaron asked, “If all you want is that position, then why can’t I be the one standing there?”
Elianna was stunned. “You want to replace him?”
“The capable one deserves the seat. If he can’t cut it, then it’s mine.” Aaron switched the phone to his other hand. “Ms. Stone, as long as you work with me, I guarantee you’ll become the CEO’s wife of Campbell Group.”
Elianna didn’t respond immediately. She was hesitating.
Aaron had always seemed like an idle good–for–nothing. She doubted he could take on someone like Yosef, who had been dominating the business world for years.
If she won the gamble, she’d be one step from the top. If she lost, it’d be total ruin.
“You don’t have to answer now. You’ve got time to think it over. Once you’ve made up your mind, send me a message.” Aaron hung up after saying that.
Elianna held the phone, lost in thought.

After wrestling with her thoughts, Elianna finally made up her mind.
She picked up her phone and sent a message.
When Aaron saw the notification, he smirked.
Elianna went downstairs and saw a tall figure in the living room. Her father was beside him, bowing and scraping with excessive humility. David said, “Mr. Campbell, you didn’t need to come in person for something so minor. A word from you and we would’ve come right over”
Yosef’s expression was cold. “I’m your junior. Of course I should come personally to speak with you about this matter.”
David was thrilled. Yosef came in person and showed just how much he valued Elianna. But he still had a concern. “And your grandfather?”
Yosef replied, “Grandpa already knows. He also hopes we can settle things soon.”
