Skylar had a rare day off and took Adam to Chestbee Hospital, which was funded by the Lambert Group, for his treatment.
Adam still needed to build up his strength before he could undergo heart surgery.
For now, Skylar’s focus was on his daily therapy sessions, conditioning his body to meet the requirements for the operation.
The sessions were a little uncomfortable, but Adam never made a sound, enduring it bravely.

But he also knew he had to return. Keeping mementos from her made it feel like she was still close, easing the sadness a little.

Hearing his mom’s words, Adam smiled happily. “Then can you unwrap it for me, Mommy?”
Skylar unwrapped the candy and gave it to him. “Adam, why do you like me so much?”
“Because you’re Mommy.” Adam replied.
Skylar’s voice was gentle. “But Adam, your real mother is Elianna, not me.”
Adam looked up at her, his small face set stubbornly. “No, she’s not! She doesn’t have that mommy smell. Only you do.”
