Chapter 106
Chapter 106
She handed the list of confirmed roles to the casting director to make the notifications.
With the male roles cast, it was time for the female roles.
Several actresses auditioned, but it felt like none were
e giving th
best; they
going through the motions.
Skylar was puzzled. This wasn’t how it should be.
Before selecting these actresses, she had reviewed all their previous work.
She knew their capabilities; two of them were more than
emale lead.
Yet, their audition performances were underwhelming, and Skylar couldn’t pinpoint the problem.
Skylar lowered her head, sighing as she drew crosses next to their names on her list.
She scanned the room and her gaze met Elianna’s..
Elianna offered a smug little smirk. It instantly clicked for Skylar- the lackluster performances of the other actresses mio something to do with
Elianna.
‘Does Elianna think that by sabotaging the others, she’ll automatically land the lead role?‘ Skylar mused. ‘With her acting skills? Even if no one suitable auditioned today, I wouldn’t settle for Elianna.‘
Elianna strode onto the stage, brimming with confidence. The joy in her eyes was impossible to conceal, as if she had already secured the female lead.
After the preliminary introductions, she glanced towards the audience where Mona Gibson held up a phone, giving her an “OK” sign.
Elianna smoothed her hair and clothes, then began her performance.
Skylar watched, then closed her eyes.
‘Elianna deliberately made the others perform poorly, thinking she’d be a shoo–in for the lead,‘ Skylar thought. ‘So she didn’t bother to properly study
the character.‘
The female lead was a homicide detective, specializing in catching vicious serial killers.
She needed to project an aura tougher than any man, not the soft, weak delivery Elianna was giving, completely lacking in power.
When interacting with the male lead during the case analysis, Elianna’s gaze, her demeanor, her body language–it was all wrong.
After Elianna finished, she tilted her chin up, expectantly waiting for them to announce her as the female lead.
The others, aware of Elianna’s connections, showered her with praise for her performance.
But no matter how extravagantly they complimented her, it was futile. The final decision rested with Skylar. If Skylar didn’t give her approval, Elianna wouldn’t get the role.
Skylar put down her pen. “I’m sorry, but your portrayal isn’t what I’m looking for.
“Firstly, your line delivery is poor. It’s evident from your lines that you probably didn’t study the script thoroughly.
“Secondly, while your acting might be better than some of the others here today, you didn’t capture the essence of the female lead. It felt like you were just playing yourself.
“You didn’t step outside of your own persona to embody this character. So, I’m very sorry, but this role isn’t for you.
