Chapter 101
Chapter 101
“What do you mean?” Elianna Stone stared at her.
Mona Gibson leaned in and whispered in her ear.
A smile spread across Elianna’s face, he
earlier gloom vanishing. “That’s a great idea.”
Skylar Lambert had just gotten back to her office at Phidon when a notification popped up on her phone.
[Moonlit Hunt lead possibly fixed]
[Sapphire abuses power to make things difficult]
‘I have a pretty good idea what this is about,’ Skylar thought, tapping the notification. Sure enough, it was exactly what she’d expected.
Elianna was playing the victim on X.
She claimed she adored “Moonlit Hunt,” but Sapphire’s behavior had deeply disappointed her.
She’d invited Sapphire to dinner to pitch herself for a role, only to discover Sapphire was someone she already knew.
According to Elianna, Sapphire disliked her intensely and tried to leave immediately. Elianna had to humble herself, begging Sapphire to stay just long enough to hear her interpretation of the character.
They’d started off talking civilly, but then Elianna supposedly said something to offend Sapphire, who then bluntly stated Elianna would never get the
role.
Elianna capped it off by insincerely tagging the author’s X account and apologizing.
What Elianna didn’t know was that Freya was the one behind that author account.
Freya, completely blindsided, found herself dragged into the mess, with Elianna’s fans swarming her mentions.
“What in the world is going on?” Freya muttered. She’d just finished a meeting and pulled out her phone to check the time.
A notification caught her eye, but when she tried to open X, the app crashed from the flood of messages. After a long wait, she finally got in, staring bewildered at the random tags and the horde of angry fans.
‘I haven’t done anything! How did I end up trending for all the wrong reasons?‘ Freya Lambert wondered, completely baffled.
After quickly catching up on the situation online, she gritted her teeth. “Sapphire, you’re just making trouble for me with all this drama!”
She checked the editor’s account but saw no new posts. She hesitated, then decided not to respond yet.
‘The book’s contract was just signed; the editor and publishing company won’t let this slide,’ she reasoned. ‘I’ll wait for their official statement and then clarify things.’
Skylar received a message from her editor and replied, telling them not to worry about it. She was actually curious to see how Freya would smooth this
over.
Freya waited a long time, but no new official statement appeared. The comments under her X posts kept piling up, each one nastier than the last.
Even though she wasn’t the “Sapphire” they were mad at, she was managing the account, so an attack on Sapphire felt like an attack on her
She couldn’t take it anymore. She messaged Elianna first- [You need to get this trending topic taken down. Right now.)

Elianna replied, [Why are you helping Skylar? Don’t tell me she’s gotten to you too?]
[It’s too complicated to explain right now,] Freya typed back. (Just do as I say.]
[If you don’t explain, then sorry, I can’t do what you ask,] Elianna retorted.
“Idiot!” Freya fumed and immediately called
Elianna to lay out the whole situation
“Do you get it now?” Freya’s voice was sharp.

Elianna, recovering from her shock, asked, “Why didn’t you tell me sooner?”
“I don’t have Skylar under 24/7 surveillance! How was I supposed to know you’d invite her out and then try to stir up a media storm against her?” Freya was clearly agitated. “Just fix this, and fast. If this blows up, it’ll be bad for me, and you won’t get off easy either.”
