Chapter 231: Victoria’s Escape to the Savage Lands
Chapter 231: Victoria’s Escape to the Savage Lands
(Olivia’s POV)
In the medical center room, Evelyn Winters watched as Lucas Blackwood and I walked in hand in hand. Our mate bond was strengthening with each passing day, and I could feel the warmth of his presence through our growing connection.
“Alpha Blackwood, don’t worry me – are those burns serious?” my mother asked, her maternal instincts
extending to the Alpha who had risked everything for her daughter.
“Please don’t worry, Mrs. Winters. They’re just minor burns, nothing that won’t heal with proper werewolf recovery time,” Lucas replied respectfully, his gray eyes soft with concern. “Are you feeling any pain or
discomfort?”
“I’m fine,” Evelyn assured him, relief evident in her voice. Her wolf had settled knowing we were all safe.
All three of us had survived the arson attack unharmed. Lucas instructed Thomas Griffin to handle the discharge procedures while Northern Territory Enforcers came to take our statements.
Officer Daniel Brooks entered the room with a grim expression. “The fire was extinguished last night thanks to Captain Jake Morrison’s emergency response team. It didn’t spread to neighboring residences in Maple
Grove.”
“Officer, has she been apprehended?” I asked, my emerald eyes flashing with fury. I had detected the scent of gasoline the night before and knew it was arson.
I hadn’t expected Victoria to be the perpetrator. The thought of the previous night’s danger made my wolf
snarl beneath my skin.
Victoria was like a rabid wolf, unpredictable and dangerous. Even after being confined to a rehabilitation facility, she had managed to escape and attempt to burn us alive.
Now that she was free and would discover that my mother and I had survived, Victoria would likely not let the matter rest. Evelyn’s fragile health couldn’t withstand such shocks from a rogue wolf’s attacks.
“She escaped our custody, but Miss Winters, please be assured that we have issued a territory-wide hunt order,” Officer Brooks reported. “We will definitely bring Victoria Frost to justice.”
I couldn’t find peace in his words. Victoria was a mad she-wolf who had lost all pack bonds and moral
restraints.
Even after being locked away, she had managed to escape and orchestrate an arson attack against us. Now that she had fled and would learn that we had survived, Victoria might not let the matter rest.
After the enforcers left, my brow furrowed, my wolf pacing anxiously within me. I feared Victoria’s madness- we were exposed while Victoria lurked in the shadows.
“Olivia, don’t worry. Victoria won’t have another chance to harm you and your mother,” Lucas said, sensing my unease through our growing bond.
He held my slightly cold hand and promised in a low voice, his gray eyes darkening with Alpha determination.
My pupils dilated as I looked at Lucas in shock, my wolf Immediately alert to the dangerous Underton In volce. What did he mean by that?
Lucas, what did you do? Victoria isn’t worth you getting your hands dirty,” I said, my expression changing
instantly.
1 grabbed the Alpha’s arm, my tone becoming stern as I questioned him in a low voice. Although I wished I could tear Victoria apart with my own claws, we lived in a society with human laws.
Evelyn was equally nervous, her maternal instincts flaring. “Alpha Blackwood, you can’t be reckless and do anything that would compromise the Blackwood Pack! Hand Victoria over to the authorities immediately!” “Mrs. Winters, I won’t cross that line. Victoria isn’t in my custody,” Lucas said, holding my hand tightly as he spoke to both of us.
Like Ethan Stone, he wanted to eliminate the threat, but he was bound by pack law and territorial agreements. He didn’t hide anything from us about his actions.
Lucas revealed that he had detected Victoria’s scent when he arrived at my cottage the previous night. It was obvious who had set fire to the Luna’s home-the acrid smell of gasoline mixed with Victoria’s distinctive she-wolf pheromones.
He had been focused on rescuing my mother and me from the burning building, so he instructed Thomas Griffin to track Victoria’s movements. After bringing us to Crescent Moon Medical Center, Lucas contacted
his driver.
Thomas had learned that Victoria had robbed Derek Walsh, the corrupt facility staff member, of his life savings. She was attempting to flee the Northern Territory through illegal smuggling networks.
Lucas had Thomas Griffin facilitate Victoria’s escape by ensuring she made contact with human traffickers. She successfully negotiated passage out of werewolf territory, believing that the moon goddess was finally smiling upon her.
Once beyond pack jurisdiction, she thought she could start a new life. She was reveling in the belief that I would suffer while Ethan grieved, and she would live freely in human society.
However, the destination was not the civilized country Victoria desired, but the lawless Bloodfang Territory in the savage lands beyond werewolf civilization. A hellish existence awaited her among the rogue packs that controlled human trafficking operations.
Hearing that Victoria had unknowingly sent herself to the Savage Lands and imagining the horrors of being enslaved by feral wolves, my expression softened. My wolf settled with grim satisfaction….
“This won’t implicate the Blackwood Pack, will it?” I asked, still concerned for Lucas’s standing among the Northern Territory Alphas.
“No, she contacted the traffickers herself through Derek Walsh’s criminal connections. The Blackwood Pack has no involvement,” Lucas reassured me, his gray eyes reflecting the same cold justice that Ethan Stone would have demanded.
Both Alphas shared the sentiment that Victoria’s evil nature made a quick death too merciful. They wanted her to suffer a fate worse than any pack punishment.
However, even if she were captured, her documented mental instability would prevent proper sentencing under human law. The suffering available in civilized territory was too limited for her crimes.
Someone like Victoria was perfectly suited for the Savage Lands, where rogue wolves showed no
those who harmed pups. Only then did I feel truly relleved, my wolf finally at peace knowing the threat was eliminated.
(Third Person’s POV)
Mentioning the fire from the previous night, Lucas thought of Ethan Stone’s heroic actions. He looked at. Olivia and asked, “Olivia, Alpha Stone is also recovering in this medical center. Should I accompany you to visit him?”
He felt genuine gratitude toward the Silvercrest Alpha for rushing into the burning building to save them without hesitation, despite their rivalry.
Evelyn quickly interjected, “Alpha Stone already visited us earlier. Olivia has already seen him.”
She understood Lucas’s meaning, but she didn’t want Olivia to know the full extent of Ethan’s sacrifice. Her daughter was finally making progress with Lucas and planning to start fresh.
Evelyn understood Olivia too well-she cared too deeply about Lily’s memory, and would never forgive Ethan for their daughter’s death. However, Evelyn had witnessed how deeply Olivia had once loved the Alpha King.
During her recent coma caused by Victoria’s actions, Ethan had maintained a constant vigil, massaging her hands while speaking of his regrets. His remorse revealed the depth of Olivia’s former love for him.
He had been the first Alpha to capture her heart completely, filling her thoughts and dreams. It would be impossible for her to forget hi
entirely.
Olivia was simply forcing herself not to love again. If she learned that Ethan had risked his life to save them,
Evelyn feared her daughter would be moved and her feelings for the Alpha King would rekindle.
If Olivia couldn’t release her grief over Lily’s death but found herself drawn to Ethan again, she would only suffer more emotional turmoil. Evelyn preferred that Olivia remain unaware and find happiness with Lucas.
Lucas observed Olivia’s obvious change in expression at the mention of Ethan’s name – her wolf’s reaction was unmistakable even through their developing mate bond. He decided not to pursue the topic further.
Thomas Griffin completed the discharge procedures, and the three of them left Crescent Moon Medical
Center together.
From his window in the Silvercrest Pack Medical Ward, Ethan Stone sat in his wheelchair, watching as Lucas escorted Olivia and Evelyn to his Armored SUV. The gentle smile Olivia gave the Blackwood Alpha – the same she-wolf who had once looked at only him with such warmth – now directed that affection toward another.
Ethan’s hands tightened on his wheelchair’s armrests, his wolf howling silently in defeat.
Maxwell Chen approached with urgent news: “Alpha, I discovered that Victoria Frost was smuggled out of the territory. She was deceived – not taken to the safe haven she expected, but toward the Bloodfang Territory in the northern savage lands.”
“Contact whoever controls those trafficking operations. I want her to experience a fate worse than death,” Ethan commanded, his amber eyes burning with cold fury.
“Yes, Alpha!” Maxwell left to make the necessary arrangements.
After ensuring Victoria’s punishment was secured, Maxwell returned to wheel Ethan into the surgical chamber where Dr. Marcus Fletcher waited to attempt saving the Alpha King’s silver-poisoned leg.
