Chapter 214: Daddy, I’ll never forgive you
Chapter 214: Daddy, I’ll never forgive you
(Ethan’s POV)
“It’s all arranged. Should I send it over now?” Maxwell’s voice came through the phone.
“Yes.” I ended the call, satisfaction settling in my chest.
I had arranged everything Evelyn Winters needed – clothing, food, accommodation, and transportation. The finest moonlight herbs money could buy, imported from the sacred groves of the Eastern Territories.
This was my chance to compensate for past mistakes. To fulfill the promise I made to “Orange Mom” when I was ten years old – to take good care of her.
Now that she was still alive, I wanted to offer her the best in the world. She deserved a life of comfort after everything she’d endured.
My wolf stirred with purpose beneath my skin. This was how tcould show Olivia that I remembered our bond, even if she couldn’t forgive me yet.
As the car pulled away from Shadowfall Detention Center, Maxwell Chen got out and hailed a taxi, He would arrange for the delivery of items to Olivia’s residence while I drove myself to the Silvercrest Pack Medical
Den.
(Third person’s POV)
Victoria Frost watched Ethan’s Black Alpha Vehicle disappear down the road. Her wolf paced anxiously beneath her skin as she made her decision.
She couldn’t wait any longer. She needed to confirm if Connor Blackthorn had given the evidence to Ethan.
If he had, she would devise a plan to prevent it from falling into Ethan’s hands. The thought of spending the rest of her life in prison made her stomach churn with terror.

She remembered her experience in the detention center – the cold concrete, the stench of fear and desperation. She couldn’t endure it again.
..
Once Ethan obtained evidence of her hiring someone to kill James Knight, he would ensure she remained imprisoned for life. Her wolf whimpered at the thought.
The taxi driver quickly assisted her with the wheelchair when she finally emerged from the vehicle. Victoria settled into the seat, her mind racing with desperate plans.
“Emma, cover up your facial injuries with makeup,” she instructed sharply. “Put on your Midnight Blue Overcoat to hide the wounds underneath.”
Emma obeyed silently, her small hands trembling as she applied concealer to her bruised face. The makeup couldn’t completely hide the swelling, but it would have to do.
After preparing, Victoria gave Emma careful instructions before they headed toward the detention center entrance. Everything depended on this performance.
The detention center guard stopped them at the entrance, his expression stern and professional.

“No prior arrangement was made for this visit,” he stated firmly.
Victoria pulled Emma to her side, her eyes immediately reddening with practiced tears. Her wolf projected distressed pheromones that would trigger any male’s protective instincts.
“Please, sir,” she pleaded, her voice breaking with emotion. “Connor and his daughter have such a special bond. She desperately wants to see him after undergoing successful surgery.”
Emma began to cry on cue, tugging at the guard’s uniform with her small hands. “Please, I need to see my daddy! I was so scared during the operation!”
The guard’s expression softened as he looked down at the injured child. Connor had been saving his visitation rights, never using them despite being imprisoned for months.
“Alright,” he relented, his voice gentle. “But this is a special exception.”
Victoria visibly relaxed, wiping away Emma’s tears with false tenderness. Her wolf settled slightly as they followed the guard through the simplified procedure.
The guard skipped the pre–application process, moved by the emotional scene. He then went to notify Connor of his unexpected visitors.
Connor Blackthorn leaped from his cot when he heard Emma had arrived. His excitement was so intense that he hit his head on the iron bed frame.
Ignoring the sharp pain, he rushed forward, his wolf surging beneath his skin with anticipation. He could hardly believe his daughter was actually there.
The guard witnessed Connor’s happiness and felt his leniency was justified. Fellow inmates urged Connor to tidy himself up before the meeting.
Connor washed his face at the small sink, trying to appear clean and presentable. His hands shook with nervous energy as he prepared to see Emma.
He was then escorted to the visitation room where Victoria and Emma waited behind the reinforced glass. Connor’s gaze swept past Victoria, landing entirely on Emma. He picked up the phone with trembling hands, his wolf whining with joy.
“Did you give the evidence to Ethan?” Victoria immediately demanded, her voice sharp with anxiety. Connor’s expression hardened as he saw Victoria’s desperation. “Are you finally scared?” he asked coldly. “Did you tell Ethan anything?” Victoria interrupted, her wolf’s fear scent filling the small booth. Victoria then placed the phone next to Emma’s ear. The young girl’s voice was sweet and innocent as she spoke.
“Daddy, did you give the evidence to Ethan Dad?” Emma asked, her eyes wide with feigned concern. Connor’s tone immediately softened when addressing his daughter. “Emma, sweetheart, don’t interfere with adult matters.”
“If you don’t tell me, I’ll never see you again!” Emma threatened, her voice rising with practiced hysteria
She clutched her chest dramatically, pretending to have difficulty breathing. Her small body trembled as she gasped for air.

Connor’s heart clenched as he watched his daughter’s distress. Even suspecting she was acting, he couldn’t
bear to see her suffer.
“I haven’t told Ethan anything,” he finally admitted, his voice defeated.
Victoria breathed a sigh of relief, her wolf relaxing beneath her skin. She still had the upper hand in this
deadly game.
She signaled Emma, who immediately escalated her performance. “Daddy, I’ll never forgive you if you hand over the evidence! I’ll die if anything happens to Mommy!”
Connor’s hand trembled as he gripped the phone. The thought of Emma harming herself if anything happened to Victoria was unbearable.
He couldn’t gamble with his daughter’s life, no matter what Victoria had done. His paternal instincts overrode everything else.
“I won’t tell Ethan anything,” he promised, his voice hollow. “Take care of yourself, Emma.”
“Whatever, Daddy,” Emma responded impatiently, already losing interest in the conversation.
Connor consoled himself that he could correct Emma’s behavior once he was released. He would teach her right from wrong when they were together again.
Emma handed the phone back to Victoria, her part in the manipulation complete.
“Take care of Emma,” Connor threatened Victoria, his wolf’s protective instincts flaring.
(Ethan’s POV)
The familiar scent of antiseptic and healing herbs filled my nostrils.
I saw Dr. Marcus Fletcher delivering test reports to the ward. Through the doorway, I could see Olivia and Lucas Blackwood helping Evelyn prepare to leave.
My wolf immediately recognized my true mate’s scent, stirring with longing beneath my skin. The sight of her caring for her mother made my chest tighten with emotion.
“Orange…” I swallowed back the word “Mom” before it could escape. “Mrs. Winters, I’m here to pick you up from the medical den.”
Evelyn’s expression remained cold as she looked at me. “No need for Alpha Stone to trouble himself. I can’t
afford it.”
Her rejection stung, but I understood her anger. I had failed her daughter and granddaughter in the worst possible way.
Olivia ignored me completely as she escorted her mother toward the exit. I followed at a respectful distance, my wolf whining softly.
We entered the elevator together, and I stood in the corner, trying not to crowd them. The tension in the small space was suffocating.
Evelyn sighed inwardly, and I could sense her thoughts. Some mistakes could never be forgiven. Lily’s was an insurmountable chasm between her daughter and me.

When we reached the ground floor, Olivia discovered that her car’s tires had been punctured. All four tires were completely flat.

She immediately turned to me with fury blazing in her emerald eyes. “You did this!” she accused, kicking my
shin with surprising force.
Her wolf growled beneath her skin as she glared at me with pure hatred. I knew I was the prime suspect, but i considered it worthwhile if it meant taking “Orange Mom” home.
Dr. Fletcher appeared as if summoned, his timing suspiciously perfect. “Perhaps you should use Alphal Stone’s comfortable vehicle as transportation,” he suggested diplomatically.
He gently ushered Evelyn toward my car before she could protest. I realized Dr. Fletcher was responsible for the flat tire, but Olivia wouldn’t apologize for suspecting me.
If it were only herself, Olivia wouldn’t have gotten into my car. But Dr. Fletcher’s words made sense for her
mother’s condition.
She knew Evelyn needed rest and protection from the cold wind. Her health was more important than
avoiding my presence.
Lucas agreed, prioritizing Evelyn’s wellbeing over being in the same car as someone they disliked. Evelyn sat in the back seat, and Olivia and Lucas followed.
Dr. Fletcher signaled me with a subtle nod. “Call Maxwell yourself,” I told him quietly.
“Thank you, Alpha Stone,” he replied, clearly delighted with the arrangement.
I felt it was worth every penny. Millions in moonlight herbs in exchange for a ride together was a bargain to me. My wolf was pleased to have my mate’s scent filling my car again.
“Olivia, didn’t you call Lucas?” Evelyn asked after settling into the comfortable leather seat.
She deliberately treated me as nothing more than a driver, and the three of them ignored my presence
completely.
“I was afraid he was busy,” Olivia replied softly.
“Olivia, Lucas is your boyfriend. You need to get used to troubling him,” Evelyn continued, her words like silver daggers to my heart.
“It’s best not to trouble people with ordinary relationships. But in close relationships, if you don’t bother Lucas with anything, he’ll think you don’t care about him.”
Driving the car, I heard Evelyn acknowledge Lucas as Olivia’s boyfriend. My wolf growled with jealousy beneath my skin, the sound barely contained.
The car smoothly arrived at Maple Grove Cottage. I saw Lucas waiting by the building, his presence a stark reminder of my failures.
Lucas greeted them warmly and helped Evelyn out of the car. “Thank you for bringing them safely,” he said to me, clearly staking his claim.
My face darkened, but I was interrupted by Evelyn’s affectionate greeting. “Lucas!” she called out with genuine warmth.
The bitterness welled up inside me as I remembered when I had also been treated with such affectio. by “Orange Mom.”
Evelyn held Lucas’s hand with maternal fondness. “Lucas, now that I’m discharged, come over for dinner

whenever you have time. I’ll cook for you – you’re only focused on work and have lost weight.”
Olivia remained silent, but she didn’t object to her mother’s invitation. Although Lucas was in perfect shape,
he didn’t refute the comment.
He smiled and looked at Olivia with gentle eyes. “Olivia, is that okay?” he asked, seeking her permission.
Lucas’s words made me turn my gaze to Olivia, my wolf anxiously waiting for her response. Everything depended on what she would say.
Olivia didn’t deliberately distance herself from Lucas. She wanted to let things happen naturally between
them.
Her acceptance made the gloom in my eyes even deeper. My thin lips moved, wanting to say no, but I found that I had no right to object.
“Mrs. Winters, the wind is strong outside. You should go inside first,” I said, suppressing the emotions surging in my heart.
My concern for Evelyn’s health was genuine, despite everything that had happened between us. “Lucas, let’s go inside,” Evelyn replied, still refusing to acknowledge me directly.
She walked forward, holding Lucas’s arm with one hand and Olivia with the other. They moved as a family unit, leaving me standing alone beside my car.
My bitterness was overwhelming as I watched them. My gaze followed them constantly, my wolf whining softly with desperate longing.
Evelyn suddenly stopped and turned her head toward me. My eyes obviously lit up with hope, and there was undisguisable expectation in my gaze as I looked at her.
