Chapter 167: Blood of the Alpha
Chapter 167: Blood of the Alpha
(Olivia’s POV)
“The patient urgently needs a blood transfusion. The Medical–Grade Wolf Blood Plasma Reserve won’t last long.” Dr. Harrison Fletcher’s voice was tense, his normally composed demeanor cracking under pressure.
I watched his face carefully, reading the unspoken message in his eyes. This surgery was already challenging, and no one had anticipated such a critical shortage halfway through. If the Type A Wolf Blood Transfusion Supply couldn’t be delivered in time, my mother would surely die.
Though Dr. Fletcher didn’t voice these concerns aloud, I understood from his expression. I felt as though I’d been plunged into an icy river, my blood freezing, my body trembling uncontrollably. My wolf whimpered beneath my skin, sensing the danger to my mother.
It was like reliving the day of Lily’s surgery. Dr. Marcus Fletcher had emerged with the devastating news that the kidney donor had disappeared, making the transplant impossible. He’d been helpless, suggesting I prepare for the worst.
How could I give up on Lily? I had grabbed the doctor’s hand, begging him not to surrender, promising to find a solution. I’d called Ethan repeatedly outside the operating room, desperate for him to save our daughter’s life.
But after countless calls, Ethan hadn’t answered once. My precious Lily had died on that operating table because of this.
Now, my mother faced the same fate.
My mind fixated on a single thought: my mother needed Type A wolf blood to survive. And the only person present who could ensure the delayed blood supply arrived in time was Ethan
Stone.
The wolf I least wanted to ask for help was my estranged mate, the Alpha King who had betrayed me and Lily. I didn’t want to owe him anything, but the person inside the Surgical Den
was my mother. Her life outweighed everything else.
If
my mother’s surgery succeeded, I would agree to any demand from Ethan, no matter how excessive. I grabbed Ethan’s arm, my emerald eyes desperate.

“Ethan, please, help my mother. As long as you can get the blood plasma here in time, I’ll do anything you ask!”
In the face of my mother’s life, nothing else mattered. I could endure anything, even submitting to my mate who had abandoned me when I needed him most.
Ethan took my ice–cold hand in his and removed his Alpha Phone, calling directly in front of me. I didn’t need to beg him; his wolf had already decided.
After making several calls, Ethan ended the conversation and looked at me. “Ten minutes at
most, it will be here.”
His gaze shifted back to Dr. Fletcher. “How long can the blood plasma inside last?”
“Five minutes at most.” Dr. Fletcher’s words made my heart, which had just slightly settled,
rise back to my throat.
My face paled, my wolf howling in distress inside me. Five minutes remained. Without blood
plasma, how could my mother’s surgery continue?
On the operating table, every second counted. Five minutes was equivalent to taking my
mother’s life.
James Knight had already started contacting all his connections to see if anyone with Type A
blood happened to be nearby and could rush over. Every little bit helped.
“I’m Type A. Arrange for me to donate blood.” Ethan didn’t hesitate, his Alpha voice carrying
the unmistakable tone of command as he addressed Dr. Fletcher.
The healer immediately called a nurse to take Ethan for a blood draw. My lips moved, but the
words “thank you” still didn’t emerge. The resentment in my heart towards my mate ran too
deep, my wolf still bearing the scars of his betrayal.
(Third person’s POV)
Sarah, the care aide at the back, while the attention of everyone was focused on the Surgical Den, quietly sent a text message. Just as the message was sent and Ethan was about to leave with the nurse, his Alpha Phone suddenly rang.
The distinctive ringtone instantly tightened Olivia’s nerves, her wolf growling with recognition.
It was Victoria Frost’s call.
(Olivia’s POV)
In the past, whenever Lily or I needed something, Victoria would always call at precisely the
wrong moment. And every time, Ethan would choose Victoria.

This time, it was my mother’s life at stake. I couldn’t remain calm. The moment I saw Ethan take out his phone, my breathing stopped, my wolf freezing in anticipation of another betrayal.
I almost instinctively reached out and grabbed Ethan, my emerald eyes red as I looked at him, silently pleading.
Ethan rejected Victoria’s call without hesitation, held my trembling, ice–cold hand, gently squeezed it, and whispered, “I won’t leave until your mother’s surgery is complete. Liv, I’ll do everything in my power to ensure your mother’s safety.”
Lily was already gone. He couldn’t bring her back, nor could he do anything more for her. But for my mother, he would do his utmost.
Before I could speak again, Ethan had already released my hand and strode away with the
nurse. Until Ethan’s figure disappeared from sight, his phone rang three more times, all from
Victoria. Ethan rejected each call without hesitation.
This was the first time Ethan hadn’t chosen Victoria but had chosen me when I needed him.
James finished his call. Two wolves nearby were rushing over. He put his arm around my
shoulder, his russet–brown wolf rising protectively beneath his skin.
“Liv, this is what Ethan owes you. You don’t need to take it to heart.” James said this because
he didn’t want me to feel indebted.
I hated Ethan too much. Ethan’s performance today wouldn’t sway me, but I might feel like I
owed him a favor. Hating him on one hand, and on the other, feeling like I had accepted
something from Ethan would easily create a psychological burden.
“Mm.” I responded softly. It was precisely because I hated Ethan so much that I didn’t want to
owe him anything, my wolf bristling at the thought of being in his debt.
Ethan quickly completed the examination and, after confirming his blood was compatible,
directly donated 400cc, which was rushed into the Surgical Den. James’s contacts were stuck
in traffic and couldn’t arrive in time.
Minutes ticked by, each one stretching my nerves tighter. Ethan didn’t leave the blood
donation area after his contribution. He kept tracking the vehicle delivering the blood plasma
to prevent any complications, while also having the nurse monitor the situation in the
operating room, paying close attention to the plasma usage.
In the final five minutes, every second was critical. The car was getting closer, still three
minutes away. But the blood plasma already sent in was nearly depleted. There was no way to
connect the supply in time.

The surgery had reached its most critical stage. Inside the Surgical Den, Dr. Fletcher was drenched in sweat, his wolf straining with the effort of maintaining focus. The nurse kept wiping the perspiration from his forehead.
Hearing the nurse describe the dire situation, Ethan immediately commanded, “Keep drawing.”
His physical condition was robust, his Alpha wolf’s strength allowing him to donate more than an ordinary werewolf. The nurse, recognizing the life–or–death circumstances, drew another
200cc.
After the extraction, Ethan’s face was deathly pale, his wolf weakening beneath his skin. “Continue,” he ordered. 200cc wasn’t sufficient to last until the blood plasma arrived.
“Alpha Stone, we can only draw this much. If we take any more, your wolf won’t be able to
maintain your strength.”
“Draw!” Ethan said coldly. Although his voice had weakened, it still carried an unquestionable
Alpha authority.
This was Dr. Fletcher’s private medical facility. He had instructed the nurse in charge of Ethan’s blood donation to follow the Alpha’s directives. But this concerned Ethan’s health and
vitality.
She also recognized Ethan’s status as Alpha King. How could she dare to extract more?
However, Ethan wouldn’t allow her to remove the needle.
He almost forcefully made her draw another 200cc. After donating 800cc, Ethan’s lips were
bloodless, and his hand holding the needle had lost its strength, his wolf whimpering weakly
inside him.
The nurse seized the opportunity to remove the needle, genuinely afraid that Ethan would
demand to continue. She quickly took the 400cc and rushed to the Surgical Den.
Ethan leaned back in the chair. When he attempted to stand, his vision swam, the world tilting
dangerously. He forced himself upright, grabbed his Alpha Phone, and saw that the vehicle
had arrived at the medical den entrance and was heading inside.
Only after the blood was delivered to the operating room did Ethan tiredly close his eyes, his wolf curling up exhausted within him.
Outside the Surgical Den, I watched as the life–saving blood was rushed in, tears welling in my
emerald eyes, my wolf howling with hope and fear. Not long after the blood was delivered, the
operating room door opened again.

Dr. Harrison Fletcher emerged, exhausted but with his furrowed brow finally relaxed. “Luna
Winters, the surgery was successful.”
