My Sister’s Dying 5

My Sister’s Dying 5

Chapter 5

Six female soldiers went on that supply run with Sarah. All six died. Only she made it back.

What she didn’t know was that one soldier had only been critically injured and unconscious.

“Sarah, look everyone in the eye and tell them you’re innocent of this ambush.”

Sarah kept playing the victim.

“Betty, I admit I was wrong to poison you, but you can’t use that to smear me. I’m a soldier!”

I burst out laughing when she finished.

“A soldier? One who abandons dying comrades to save her own skin? What an outstanding soldier you are, Sarah!”

Sarah couldn’t sit still anymore. She struggled to her feet and locked eyes with me.

She warned me.

“Don’t push it, Betty!”

Hilarious. What could she possibly do to me?

I projected a video call onto the big screen.

The surviving soldier appeared-paralyzed from the waist down, but thank God she could still talk.

Her voice was hoarse with rage: “I’m reporting Captain Sarah Hayes for continuing the mission despite knowing our position was compromised.”

“And to save her own ass, she stole other soldiers’ first aid kits! She’s a fucking monster!”

Even though we weren’t face-to-face, her voice was sharp enough to cut glass, filled with pure fury.

Sarah pointed at the screen.

“Stop making shit up! You obviously planned this with Betty. You’re the one who’s gonna face court martial!”

That’s when the judge spoke up.

“You’re the one facing punishment. My daughter would never lie!”

That’s right-the survivor was the judge’s daughter.

Sarah tried to keep arguing.

But the soldier continued: “If anyone doubts me, we can wait for the aircraft’s recording equipment to be repaired. Then we’ll know

the truth.”

Sarah stumbled and collapsed. Now she was the one with despair in her eyes.

My parents stared at her in disbelief.

“Sarah, how could you do this?”

“Haven’t we always taught you to put others first? To never be selfish?”

“And that surveillance footage of your s

sister-did you frame her for that too?”

Before Sarah could answer, I jumped in: “Mom, Dad, you think framing me is the only thing Sarah’s done?”

Ever since Sarah came to our house, she’d been the perfect caring older sister on the surface. But behind closed doors? She made my

life hell.

Mare

Even her art competition wins-all stolen from my work.

Which meant all her glory should’ve been

mine

I’d fought with my parents about it, complained, but they never believed me.

They just thought I was being jealous.

Eventually I went numb. Stopped caring.

I had a diary documenting everything Sarah did to me behind the scenes.

Putting tacks in my shoes, bugs in my food…

As my parents flipped through page after page, tears filled their eyes.

They looked at me with regret written all over their faces.

But they still couldn’t find the words.

Finally, Mom apologized first: “Betty, I didn’t know. I just thought Sarah saved your life, so I wanted to take extra care of her.”

“My savior? What if she’s the one who pushed me into that river in the first place?”

The courtroom fell silent again, everyone’s eyes darting between Sarah and me.

The story of an eight-year-old girl heroically saving someone had been front-page news.

Sarah had been hailed as the most beautiful little hero.

Everyone found it hard to believe-could an eight-year-old really be that calculating?

But that’s exactly what happened.

The person who uncovered the truth was my grandmother, who loved and protected me.

But Grandma died in a car accident on her way to tell me everything-so Sarah indirectly killed my grandmother too!

And after Grandma died, Sarah had the nerve to demand Grandma’s villa.

Like hell I’d allow that!

Grandma’s phone wasn’t repaired until recently. That’s when I discovered the whole truth.

Faced with undeniable evidence, Sarah had nothing to say.

My parents were furious too. Dad raised his hand and slapped Sarah across the face.

“Sarah, I never imagined you were this kind of person! You’re nothing to us now!”

“Get the hell out of our family and give back everything we ever gave you!”

Right there in front of me, they started beating Sarah, like they were finally getting justice for all those years.

But they seemed to forget-they were accomplices in all the pain I’d suffered.
