My Sister’s Dying 28

My Sister’s Dying 28

Chapter 6

Getting tangled up with these two pieces of trash for so many years was my fault for being a bad judge of character.

From now on, I wouldn’t shed a single tear for either of them.

After getting things sorted at home, my bestie came with me to the hospital for a checkup.

While I was getting bandaged up, she was on her laptop researching.

Suddenly she gasped:

“Zara, your boyfriend faked his age!”

I didn’t understand, so she continued:

“He’s actually the same age as your stepmom. I looked up his high school-he and your stepmom were classmates.”

This bombshell news made my head feel like it was about to split open.

My bestie said carefully:

“I contacted one of his high school classmates. He said Quinn used to have a boyfriend back then-it was probably him.”

Looking at the photo she sent me, my expression went from shock to bitter laughter.

In the picture, Marcus had his arm around Quinn’s waist.

They looked perfect together.

So that’s how it was.

All these years together had been a setup by this group of people coveting my family’s fortune.

I didn’t feel any sadness about being betrayed-just a clear understanding flowing through my entire body after learning the truth.

I contacted a lawyer to discuss compensation and getting the company back.

I wouldn’t let a single person who hurt me get away with it.

I would make them all pay.

Coming out of the hospital room, we passed the maternity ward.

I saw the disgusting couple I’d expected to find.

Quinn was curled up in Lincoln’s arms. Lincoln was almost sixty and looked his age since he didn’t take care of himself-like a grandfather holding his granddaughter.

Passersby kept staring.

“Why is everyone looking at me!”

“Honey, I knew they were just jealous of me.”

I got goosebumps and quickly pulled my bestie to take a different route.

But Lincoln’s sharp eyes spotted me.

“Zara, come see your little brother!”

His wrinkled face lit up with happiness:

“The Ashford family finally has an heir.”

I covered the wound on my ear and laughed coldly. Before my bestie could stop me, I slapped Quinn across the face.

“That thing in your belly thinks it can call me sister?”

With Lincoln right there, Quinn couldn’t make a scene, so she just whimpered:

“Honey, I’m working so hard carrying your baby, and your daughter’s still hitting me.”

Lincoln’s face immediately darkened.

“Zara Rodriguez, your mother’s been dead for years. Even though I married into the Rodriguez family.”

“As a man, I just want a child who carries my name. Is that really so offensive to you?”

The maternity ward wasn’t crowded at night, but the few doctors on duty all turned to look.

A young doctor recognized me and said loudly:

“Isn’t that the girl from this morning who was fighting with her stepmom and acting like her dad’s side piece?”

“What’s she doing causing trouble at the hospital now?”

My bestie was shaking with anger at their words, wanting to argue, but I held her back.

There was no point arguing with them now.

The crowd pointed their cameras at me, and sure enough, I caught a smug smile on Quinn’s face.

Lincoln gained confidence and spoke tearfully to the cameras:

“Even though I married into the Rodriguez family, I still have my dignity as a man.”

“I’ve devoted myself to managing the Rodriguez company all these years. Even if I haven’t achieved great things, I’ve worked hard. Now I’m almost sixty and finally have a child, but this ungrateful daughter wants to cause trouble…”

The crowd started whispering among themselves.

Looking at all the bright camera lights around me, I knew this was all being livestreamed.

It would probably cause another media storm.

Right there on camera, I slapped Lincoln across the face with both hands.

The bastard’s face immediately swelled up.

Lincoln screamed and pointed at me with a shaking hand:

“You ungrateful brat! I’m your father!”

Quinn, seeing me lose it, didn’t dare say a word.
