Chapter 27: Why Should I Bail You Out When We’re Getting a Divorce?
Liam’s breath caught, “You think I’m dirty?”
“Yes! Liam, can’t you understand what I’m saying?”
Ella’s eyes were red as she finally exploded, the years of pent–up emotions pouring out in a single burst.
“I used to chase after you, following you around like a little tail. But when you secretly started a relationship with Natalie and had me sent to jail, that was the end for us!”
B
Glass shattered all over the floor. Someone’s blood had mixed with it, but Ella didn’t care.
“Now I’ve woken up. Let’s just say I was blind to have liked you in the first place. What’s the matter? You can’t accept that, can you?”
A cold smirk appeared on her face.
Liam didn’t let go of her, so Ella grabbed the broken bottle, now a sharp shard, and began slamming
it onto his hand.
“I congratulate you. You got what you wanted! You’re finally going to marry Natalie..But now you’re holding my hand, aren’t you worried about your precious Natalie getting jealous?”
With one final, forceful swing, the glass bottle shattered completely. The pieces scattered across the
floor, sharp and dangerous.
She tossed the bottle cap aside, noticing that Liam’s arm was covered in blood. His face showed no sign of emotion.
At that moment, Stella rushed over, worried. “Ella, are you okay?”
Ella’s arm was stained with blood, and the scene was chaotic, which naturally worried Stella. But luckily, there didn’t seem to be any cuts on her.
Just as Stella finally let out a sigh of relief, she saw police officers filing in one after another.
It turned out someone had quietly called the police–no one knew when.

A few men who were close to Liam quickly approached him to check on his injury. “Liam, are you
alright?”
No one had expected things to escalate to this point.
Liam remained silent, his lips pressed together tightly, his face pale.
His arm was badly injured, with blood flowing steadily.
One of his friends suggested, “Liam, the ambulance is here. Let’s get you to the hospital.”
Liam nodded silently, casting a complicated glance at Ella before he left.
Ella didn’t look back, her gaze steady and unwavering. She didn’t want to give him any more of her
attention.
At the city police station, Ella sat in the interrogation room, her body stained with blood.
Her face was pale, and her frail form curled up on the chair. She was silent, but there was a deep sense of brokenness about her.
Stella, sitting beside her, was visibly worried. “Ella, are you okay? Why are you shaking?”
They had rushed to the police station, and Ella had left her jacket behind at the bar.
Now, she was only wearing a red knitted slip dress.
The chill of the night made her uncomfortable.
Ella turned to Stella, forcing a smile. “I’m fine, just cold.”
Stella hesitated. She, too, was wearing just a thin shirt, but she offered her jacket to Ella,
‘You were so brave earlier, taking on Liam. When he left, his face was all blue. I bet no one’s ever
dared to do that to him before.”
Ella hadn’t intended to hurt him, but when Liam grabbed her and tried to drag her out of the bar, she didn’t expect things to escalate this much.

Liam had ignored her in the past, always treating her like air, but now that they were apart, why was he still holding on?
And then, after he had announced his engagement to Natalie at the press conference yesterday, it should have been clear to him that there was no reason for them to continue any further.
A police officer entered the room.
“Miss Rossi, we’ve reviewed the surveillance footage from the incident. Your actions were in
self–defense, so according to the law, you won’t face any charges. However, someone will need to
come and bail you out.”
Stella immediately stood up. “Can I bail her out?”
9
The officer glanced at her. “No, you’ll need a family member to come and bail her out.”
Stella sighed, glancing at the clock on the wall. It was already 2:30 AM, and her parents were
probably asleep by now.
She didn’t want to worry them by waking them up in the middle of the night.
After a moment of hesitation, she called her husband, Caleb.
The phone rang a few times before being answered. In the background, there was loud noise, and it sounded like Caleb was playing cards with someone. There was even a woman’s voice faintly heard.
Caleb’s voice was indifferent as he answered, “What’s going on?”
Stella didn’t waste time with pleasantries. She spoke coldly, as if she were talking to a stranger,
‘Come to the police station and pick me up.”
After a few seconds of silence, Caleb’s voice was heard again, tinged with sarcasm,
‘Getting yourself into trouble? You’re at the police station now? Stella, you really know how to get yourself into messes.”
Stella clenched her phone, hearing the impatience in his voice.
She was about to hang up when Caleb suddenly added, “I’ll come get you, but…”

Stella waited for him to continue, her patience wearing thin.
“Give me a child.”
Stella was taken aback.
“What? A child? We’re about to divorce, and you want me to have a child with you? Caleb, have you lost your mind?”
She could tell he was deliberately making it difficult for her.
Their marriage had been one of convenience, a political alliance. Caleb had his own person in his heart, but due to family pressure, he had married her.
This marriage had never been something Stella had wanted.
D
For two years, she had been living in this empty marriage, holding on to hope only to end up with
despair.
When she realized that Caleb would never love her, she had suggested a divorce.
He had agreed, and now they were figuring out when to finalize the process.
Yet now, he was asking her to have his child?
What kind of joke was that?
It was clear that Caleb didn’t want to come to the police station and was using this request to get her
o back off.
So,” Caleb’s voice became even more mocking, “Since we’re getting divorced, why would I bail you
>ut?”
Stella was stunned. Before she could respond, the phone went dead.
She stood there, staring at the phone, her mind racing.
Her eyes began to fill with tears, but she forced herself to calm down and smiled, though it was a painful and bitter expression.

“You saw it, right? This is how things are between us. Caleb won’t come.”
Ella, heart aching for her friend, gently pulled Stella into a comforting hug.
Stella clearly didn’t want to dwell on this topic; and she quickly changed the subject. “My useless husband looks like we’ll have to rely on your husband to bail us out.”
Ella bit her lip, unsure whether Marcus was even awake at this hour.
They had just gotten married, and now she was asking him to come to the police station and bail her
out.
It was all too absurd, especially after the mess they had just gone through.
How would Marcus think of her now?
