Chapter 24: Kissing and Still Not Familiar?
Marcus tightened his grip on Ella’s delicate wrist, causing her heartbeat to spiral out of control.
Then, in his deep, magnetic voice, he whispered into her ear, “From now on, this spot can only belong to me.”
He extended two fingers and gently tapped the spot between her eyebrows.
Ella instinctively nodded, but then belatedly realized something wasn’t quite right.
“We don’t really know each other that well…”
How had things escalated so quickly? How could they suddenly be at a point where she was expected to only think about him?
“We’ve slept together, kissed, and if that’s not familiar, then what is?” Marcus replied, his breath warm against her ear.
The busy street around them suddenly felt much quieter, and Ella’s heart began to race, her fingers involuntarily curling.
She met Marcus’s deep eyes, took a deep breath, and felt her ears flush.
After a short break at home, Ella planned to take Marcus to the supermarket.
The house looked pristine, almost like a show home, but it lacked the warmth of daily life. She needed to buy some everyday essentials.
However, the thought of tonight made her nervous.
Last night, Marcus had been so drunk that he had spent the night on the sofa. But what about tonight?
They were married now, so they would probably be living together, right?
Just as she was deep in thought, Ella’s phone suddenly rang.

Looking down, she saw a message from Stella:
“I just landed. Want to grab dinner tonight?”
Ella hesitated, subconsciously glancing toward the room.
The man stood tall, having changed into fresh clothes, and walked out with long strides.
Ella quickly typed a reply: “It might not be convenient. I got married today.”
Stella: “What’s going on?”
Ella: “I’ll explain later.”
Stella, concerned: “Are you sure you weren’t tricked? Liam is trash, but that doesn’t mean you should just give up and settle for any man.”
Ella bit her lip, glancing at Marcus as he walked toward the bathroom. She lowered her head and typed back.
“It’s not just settling for any man. I saved his life.”
Stella: “Did you offer your life in exchange? Are you really that old–fashioned? Got any photos? Send
one over.”
Ella: “No.”
The only photo they had together was the one on the marriage certificate.
However, as soon as they got home, Marcus had taken the certificate and locked it in the safe.
Stella: “So, what’s his name? What’s your husband’s name?”
Ella: “Mar…”
Before she could type more, Marcus’s enlarged face suddenly appeared in front of her.
“Who are you texting?”

His cool breath rushed at her from behind, and Ella instinctively tensed, quickly stuffing the phone in her pocket.
“A friend,” she said.
Marcus didn’t ask any more questions, and they both left the house together.
Meanwhile, on the other side…
“Buzz buzz.”
Liam’s phone, sitting on the table, suddenly rang. He saw that it was a call from Ella.
A smirk appeared at the corner of his lips.
Yesterday, he had held a press conference and publicly announced that he had replaced Ella with
Natalie as his fiancee, settling the scandal at the hotel.
Now, Ella was calling him to win him back. Wasn’t this a bit too late?
Nevertheless, Liam was still curious about what she might say this time to try to get him back.
By the fifth ring, Liam finally answered.
To his surprise, the call was immediately disconnected.
The repetitive beeping of the ended call made his brows furrow.
What was going on?
Ella never hung up on him. Even when he intentionally ignored her calls, she would wait for it to ring six times before calling again.
Thinking about this, Liam set the phone back on the table, waiting for it to light up again.
This time, he waited for a full two minutes, but the screen remained black.
Liam clicked his tongue in annoyance. A flash of coldness flickered in his eyes.

So, Ella was playing games with him? Trying to get his attention with this trick?
She probably thought that he would call back out of curiosity.
Nice try, but it wouldn’t work.
Meanwhile, Ella, who was shopping at the supermarket, didn’t realize that her phone had unlocked and automatically dialed Liam.
She had started to realize that her new husband, Marcus, had a somewhat ethereal and distant aura
about him, like he was not of this world.
To make Marcus seem more grounded, Ella handed him the task of pushing the shopping cart while
she quickly selected daily necessities.
He quietly followed behind her, and the scene looked quite harmonious.*
Suddenly, Marcus’s phone rang.
He paused, glanced at Ella as she walked ahead, and answered the call.
The voice on the other end was loud and raucous.
Caleb’s voice boomed from the phone:
“Hey, Marcus, didn’t you say you were getting married today? The party’s ready, where are you bringing the bride?”
Marcus frowned, his gaze falling on Ella’s back.
She was on tiptoe, trying to reach for the large container of laundry detergent on the top shelf.
The shelf was too high for her, and she was struggling a little. Her long hair flowed through the air, creating a graceful arc.
Marcus held his phone, his voice low, “It’s too crowded. I’m worried it might scare her, so I’m not
going.”
Caleb laughed, “We’re not animals. Why are you being so protective? This is supposed to be the big

day, and you’re not even coming? What’s the deal?”
Marcus didn’t respond. He pushed the shopping cart toward Ella and easily helped her take the detergent down, placing it in the cart.
Ella looked back at him, smiling gratefully.
Marcus gave a small smile in return, said nothing, and walked past her toward the meat section.
He picked out two steaks and added them to the cart.
On the phone, Caleb’s voice continued: “Hey, Marcus, are you even listening? Where are you? It’s so noisy over there.”
A
Marcus replied nonchalantly, “I’m with my wife at the supermarket. You guys enjoy yourselves. Put the bill on me.”
There was a long silence on the other end for about seven or eight seconds, followed by Caleb’s exclamation: “What the hell? I can’t believe you’re at the supermarket!”
Marcus didn’t respond. He was probably tired of Caleb’s chatter, so he just hung up the phone.
When Ella heard Marcus say, “I’m with my wife,” her cheeks immediately flushed.
Who was he talking to? A friend?
‘Do you want some soup?” Marcus asked.
Ella snapped back to reality. “Huh?”
‘I heard this one is very good for women’s health.”
Marcus rested his chin on his hand, gesturing for the cashier to put the black chicken into the cart.
Ella furrowed her brows, “But, won’t black chicken be too much trouble to prepare?”
Marcus’s gaze rested on her.
Her skin was very fair, and her long eyelashes hid her eyes. The first thing anyone would notice

about her was her delicate waist, so slender it looked like it could break with a light touch.
His gaze deepened as he whispered, “If it helps you gain weight, it’s not a hassle.”
Ella’s heart softened.
O
But when she looked down at waist he was referring to, her face suddenly flushed red.
Marcus chuckled lightly. “Let’s go. Time to check out and head home.”
His deep voice made Ella’s legs feel weak.
But once we’re married, sharing a bed is inevitable… isn’t it?
