Chapter Eleven: We Found Her
*Kayden POV:
After leading our little mate, the other pup whose name we knew now as Jacob and Rex, to the entrance of the backyard, me and Jayden went inside to change our clothes and meet up with dad at his office. He had mindlinkled us that he needed to talk to us back in the forest when we were about to question our little mate why she lied to us. The way she bit her lip and looked anywhere but at us was a dead giveaway that she was probably covering up for her friend and Rex. The thought of her lying to us on such a small thing didn’t sit well with us;ave knew she must’ve felt guilty after lying, but she shouldn’t have done it in the first place. We wouldn’t have said anything to her or Jacob; we would’ve talked to Rex privately about how it was dangerous letting a little girl go all by herself in the woods.
Little, the word bring back flashes of how she puffed up her cheeks and glared at us; she was so cute. Our little mate didn’t like to be called little at all. At least we got to know her age because of it. Jayden and I were right. She was nine years old, meaning we would have to wait nine more years till she turned eighteen to feel the mate bond between us; that was almost a decade. The thought made my heart constrict but willed the feeling away. At least we had found her. It was better that we knew we would get a mate after nine years than hopelessly looking around and fucking she–wolves for nine years without a clue when we would find her. Speaking off, now that we had found our mate, we couldn’t fuck anyone; we used to because we hadn’t found her, but now we did; there was no need to bed other wolves; we remained chaste for twenty–four years; what was another nine now, it would all be worth it when our little Kiara turns eighteen.
Plus, I saw it as a blessing in disguise that her being so young; is possessive as it sounded, we could keep an eye on our mate, ensuring she stayed clear of trouble and horny teenage male wolves. The problem was how to keep her close to us these next few years. She mentioned she was top of her class in academics and warrior training; maybe the scholar’s scholarship idea I had earlier would work. I needed to talk to mom and dad; I knew they would both be ecstatic about the news anyway and would definitely help us. Plus, the kingdom was at stake; they couldn’t have feral kings ruling because both kings could only think about was their mate and not the kingdom if our mate wasn’t close by.
Throwing on a pair of grey suit pants and a black shirt and belt I folded my sleeves till my elbows, slicked back my hair, and wore a pair of black dress shoes. I grabbed the matching grey suit jacket in my hand and left for dad’s office. I saw Jayden waiting for me in a navy blue suit and white shirt with light brown shoes; his hair slicked back just like mine.
Reaching dad’s office door, we knocked and walked in when we heard a loud come in. Walking in, we see dad in his executive black office chair and mom in his lap as he whispers something in her ear. Ugh! Not this again; I wasn’t in the mood for their PDA; Jayden and I had bigger fish to fry. I cleared my throat, gaining their attention; both of them broke out of their moment and straightened up seeing us, mom went to get up, but dad pulled her back, nipping her shoulder, telling her to stay put. She just rolled her eyes and smacked his chest playfully. I couldn’t help but think that it would be Kiara and us in a few years; the thought sent happiness jolts down my body.
“What has got you both smiling like clowns?” Asked mom.
We both broke out of our thought of our little mate, awkwardly scratched our heads, and cleared our throats.
