Chapter 9
Andrew grinned and answered, “Absolutely, not unfair at all!”
Bonnie sneered, her face full of provocation. “Caroliné, you’re not Mrs. Jefferson anymore, so why flaunt it here? Without Andrew to support you, you’re just a housewife pretending to be a boss!”
She shot a knowing glance at Bruno beside me. “Oh, don’t tell me you’ve latched onto another old man and are strutting around.”
I shook my head, realizing how foolishly she spoke and how many people she was annoying.
Bruno’s expression turned to fury, and he slapped her hard.
“Andrew, manage your woman! If she keeps making a fool of herself, she’ll be sorry.”
After teaching Bonnie a lesson, Bruno insisted on escorting me out. “Ms. Swan, let’s not stoop to their level!”
Then he turned to Andrew. “Your company will never partner with any company in Sealand again! Humph!”
Bonnie finally caught on, her face going pale.
“Wait, what Ms. Swan?”
“Caroline, is she actually Ms. Swan from the Swan Group?”
That night, in a fit of rage, Andrew beat Bonnie up in their hotel room.
She begged for mercy.
“Caroline has been lying to you! Andrew, if Caroline truly loved you, she would’ve told you she was the head of the Swan Group. She was just messing with you and doesn’t love you at all!”
However, she would soon pay for her words.
That night, Andrew unleashed all his fury on her.
He beat her so badly that she had a miscarriage.
My assistant handed me the photos the private investigator had taken.
That night, Andrew was seen frantically carrying Bonnie, who was bleeding in a white dress, into a car heading to the hospital.
It was then that Andrew discovered the child Bonnie was carrying was not his.
I had my suspicions all along.
After all, I had undergone countless IVF treatments to get pregnant. I couldn’t believe Bonnie would conceive so

casily.
Yet she had taunted me.
“Caroline, you’re getting old and can’t have kids, which is normal. You can’t compare yourself to me; I’m young.”
But now, reality slapped her in the face.
Her child was conceived with a stranger she met in a nightclub.
To secure her position as Mrs. Jefferson, she lied about the baby being Andrew’s and didn’t have an abortion.
When Andrew learned the truth, he had Bonnie arrested and took revenge.
Her face was slashed with a knife, leaving her disfigured.
Afterward, she was thrown back into the club.
“Don’t you enjoy sleeping around with men? Let me grant you that wish! You bitch!”
“If it weren’t for you, I wouldn’t be divorced from Caroline, nor would we have come to this point!”
“You destroyed my family and my company!”
“I will make you feel every ounce of pain that Caroline suffered.”
Andrew was filled with regret.
He stayed in Sealand, hoping to win my forgiveness.
But after I rejected him for the fifth time, news of his company going bankrupt broke, and Andrew fell seriously ill.
I just listened to all of this calmly, munching on the grapes that the young man fed me, feeling pretty indifferent.
“You don’t need to keep me updated about Andrew anymore.”
All the resentment I used to feel faded away with Andrew’s punishment.
Now, I was ready to start my own life.
I had a new boyfriend, had completely forgotten about the past, and was gearing up for a new phase in my life.
As a powerful woman, all sorts of handsome guys flocked to me, eager to be my boyfriend, even proposing marriage.
But I wasn’t interested in getting married.
I simply chose a young man I really liked as my boyfriend, and soon, I was pregnant.
The perks of youth!
During my check–up, the doctor assured me that the baby was healthy and strong.

Chapter 9
All I wanted was to have my own child, to raise her slowly, giving her the best of everything
When my adorable little daughter was born, I learned about what had happened to Andrew after all.
In the year that followed, his luck turned sour. He struggled several times but couldn’t save his company,
Instead, his health deteriorated.
I heard he had liver issues that ultimately led to liver cancer, and when he passed away, nobody was by kús side.
And Bonnie, who had been scarred, received a will proclaiming her inheritance.
She thought Andrew had a change of heart and happily went to claim her inheritance.
But it turned out he left her with a massive debt instead.
I heard she’s still being hounded by creditors.
That sweet, pretty secretary from back in the day was now living a life full of misery and disgrace.
A fortune teller lamented, “Greed is the root of all evil. This is the price they pay for their debauchery! Not only did they ruin someone else’s marriage, but they also brought bad luck upon themselves, destroying their own lives.”
I completely agreed.
All the past soon faded away.
And I would devote more energy to raising and spending time with my daughter.
One day, I plan to pass on the Swan Group to her as a coming–of–age gift.
