Chapter 6
Andrew has had people searching for me for just as long
He had come to Sealand, but he didn’t realize that more than half of its assets belonged to my family. Even if he wanted to take a fly, he’d need our family’s permission.
Since I decided to cut ties with him, it’s as if I was dead to him now.
Plus, Bonnie was throwing a fit, threatening to jump off a building, all because she was claiming she was pregnant and wanted him to give her a title.
They were such a perfect match, those lowlifes.
After Chris left, I canceled all my meetings and sat alone in a corner, sipping drink after drink.
Then, a young man approached with a grin and raised his glass to me.
“Hey there, you look a bit down. Want to share a drink?”
His bright eyes and eight–pack abs made him seem innocent. His name was Justin Sawyer, and he originally came to the Swan Group looking for a job.
But I had my eyes on him right away.
I brought him into my company as an assistant, just to enjoy having a young male assistant around.
But honestly, I had no real desire for anything romantic.
Eventually, I realized that not everyone gives in to the temptation of youth and beauty.
People were fundamentally different.
As I drank casually, I listened to the insider info the young man gathered for me.
He talked about Caplanding.
Ever since Andrew found out I left, he’s been sending people everywhere looking for me.
Although he had some reputation in Caplanding, no one outside of it knew who he was.
And looking for me in Sealand was like looking for a needle in a haystack.
Andrew didn’t understand why I left without a word and has been trying to get me back for clarification.
But his secretary was getting impatient.
Initially, she thought throwing a fit would earn her a title, but I’ve taken all of Andrew’s attention away from her.

Chapter 6
Andrew was adamant about not signing the divorce papers.
But Bonnie got him drunk and forced him to sign while he was out of it.
When my lawyer called to congratulate me on regaining my freedom, I sighed in relief.
But when Andrew sobered up, he was furious.
I heard it was the first time he hit a woman–he slapped pregnant Bonnie several times.
She even ended up in the hospital.
He sent her in during the day, then regretted it that night and went to smooth things over.
Andrew proposed to her in the hospital, ring in hand, and a hidden paparazzo caught it all on camera.
The news exploded.
Bonnie was over the moon, even adding me back on social media to gloat.
“Caroline, I know you’re not dead. You knew you lost, so you left Caplanding all embarrassed, right?”
“You’re lucky to have some sense. A washed–up old woman like you can’t hold onto a man’s heart without beauty or
charm.”
“Andrew didn’t want to divorce you before because of all those IVF attempts, but now that the baby’s gone, you have no leverage at all.”
“Soon, I’ll be Mrs. Jefferson. I set up all those paparazzi, so even if he regrets it, it’s too late. Caroline, I’ll step over you and show everyone in Caplanding just how inferior you are.”
I read her messages with a smirk, unable to help but laugh.
I was just about to reply when I noticed she’d already deleted me.
A secretary who got promoted to mistress seriously thought she had the upper hand.
Even if Andrew showed up right now, he’d have to suck up to me for my mercy, let alone a secretary.
Without responding, I decided I needed to let off some steam, so I called Chris. “Forget about business with Caplanding.”
Chris immediately understood and chuckled. “Without your help, it won’t be long before Andrew goes bankrupt.”
“Bonnie, you’re creating a ruckus just for a moment of satisfaction. I’m curious to see the expression on y when Andrew realizes you were the one who brought all this trouble,” I said in my head.

“Did you set all this up?”
Andrew stared at the screen filled with entertainment news, his expression darkening.
