I found a job nearby, returning to my previous design position.
During those years married to Ethan, I had disconnected from the outside world for his sake.
“Take these files to Mr. Chen,” my supervisor instructed.
The office door opened, and the man sitting at the desk looked startlingly familiar. It wasn’t until I heard Sophia’s sweet “Ethan” that I realized.
“Amy? What are you doing here?” he asked.
I never imagined this was Ethan’s company. He never let me visit, always saying the company was too crowded and
unsafe for me.
The two people who had just been holding each other immediately changed their expressions.
“Ethan, your new secretary looks nice,” I said with a smirk.
We weren’t even divorced yet, and he was already being so blatant.
“Amy, don’t talk nonsense,” he warned.
There he went again, protecting Sophia and her reputation.
Unfortunately, I didn’t care to listen.
I frowned as if I couldn’t understand.
“Since she’s your secretary, how about pouring some coffee?” I suggested. “You don’t mind, do you, Mr. Chen?”
Both Sophia and I looked at Ethan. He tried to say something to me, but realizing I couldn’t hear, he gave up.
He waved his hand, motioning for Sophia to leave first.
I smiled slightly, ignoring her vicious glare.
Currently, I was still legally Ethan’s wife, while Sophia would always be a mistress.
“Amy, I knew you wouldn’t be angry,” he said, trying to soothe me, mimicking his old ways by embracing me trying to kiss me, but I gently pushed him away.
“Amy, don’t be hard on Sophia. She had a tough time abroad and is just a bit spoiled here. I’ll talk to her for you. Don’t make things difficult for her.”
He was afraid I couldn’t hear, so he typed it all out.
He took all the credit for being the good guy, naturally casting me as the villain.

Chapter 6
I took a sip of coffee and looked at Ethan.
“Ethan, this coffee is excellent.”
He sighed in relief. “Amy, are you here to work at the company? You don’t need to work I’ll Love you anything you
want.”
Was Ethan afraid I’d discover his relationship with Sophia?
I laughed coldly. “Actually, I don’t want to work here anymore.”
Ethan agreed quickly, promising to take me traveling, to give me whatever I wanted. My gaze drifted to Sophis outside the window.
I lowered my eyes, feigning tears and vulnerability. “Ethan, if you want to marry Sophia, we can sign the divorce papers.”
“I won’t hold you back. I’ll step aside quietly.”
Ethan was the type who responded to softness, not force. I let out a few sobs, and he reached out to wipe my tears.
“Amy, we’re not getting divorced.”
But I was pushed aside roughly by Sophia, who glared at me fiercely before turning to hide in Ethan’s arms with a wounded expression.
“Ethan, don’t you like me? Why do you still listen to her?”
“Ethan, she’s just a deaf woman. Didn’t you say you were going to divorce her?”
They were so shameless. I sat there calmly eating fruit.
It was the first time Ethan wouldn’t let someone speak ill of me. “Sophia, that’s enough!”
Sophia had lost because Ethan had already shifted his loyalty to me.
The joy I expected didn’t come. I felt nothing for Ethan anymore.
Ethan asked me to come home, but I gently pushed him away. “Ethan, if you had to choose between Sophia and me. who would you pick?”
Ethan hesitated, even though he immediately said the question was meaningless.
The night was quiet, so quiet I could hear the sound of keys turning in the door next to mine. I softly opened the door, curious about my new neighbor.
“Nathan?”
“Busted,” he shrugged. In the moonlight, there was a gentle beauty about him. “Don’t overthink it. This is just a spare apartment I have.”
