Chapter 2
The overwhelming injustice I had endured finally erupted, and I choked back tears as I called out, “Mom”
“Silence! I don’t have a daughter like you!”
Her sharp rebuke halted Nanny Lexi, who had been about to help me.
My mother descended the stairs with an icy expression, walking, straight toward me. Without hesitation, she threw the tea in her hand at my face.
“Sunny already lost her father. She’s pitiful enough as it is, and yet you still bully her. If this gets out, what will people say about the White family?”
“Emily White, do you have any idea how much effort we’ve put into raising you all these years? How could you repay us like this?”
Blood dripped steadily from my wounded palm, forming a small pool on the floor.
And with it, every last shred of my attachment to the White family drained away.
I looked up toward the center of the living room.
The wall, once adorned with a family portrait of us, now bore my father’s framed memorial.
When my father was alive, I was the envy of everyone in Capital City–the cherished princess of the elite circles.
My brother, Aiden White, adored me beyond words. Stephen Kingston, my childhood sweetheart, loved me with all his heart.
Luxury brands, jewelry, and endless affection surrounded me.
The only hardship I’d ever faced was the serious illness I had at eighteen.
Back then, Aiden ignored everyone’s objections and donated his kidney to me. Stephen, meanwhile, knelt in prayer before Buddha until his knees turned raw and his hair streaked with white.
When I recovered, both of them were utterly drained, looking nothing like their former selves.
Even with a fever and swollen knees, Stephen handed me a good luck charm and said, “As long as we’re here, Emily, you’ll always be happy.”
But that happiness was shattered in an instant by a car accident.
My father and the driver died in the crash.
Before his death, the driver entrusted Sunny Mason to our family.
I never imagined that when the White family fell from grace, both daughters would become commodities waiting to

Emily! Why is you standing there like an idiot? Get over here and apologize to Sammy!”
Aiden and Stephen both glared at me, their faces brimming with anger.
But when their eyes landed on the pool of blood on the floor, they froze in stanned silence,
Stephen hesitated for a moment before stepping forward. “I didn’t realize you were hurt so badly. Let me take a Look”
“No need.”
My cold response visibly annoyed him, though he tried hard to mask his impatience.
“Stop acting like a child, will you? The White family’s situation is already dire enough. We don’t have the energy to coddle you anymore.”
“I’ll go buy you some handmade chocolates from East Street later, okay? Just be good and stop causing trouble.”
When I was little, I was scared of pain and hated bitterness.
Even a small scratch would have both of them coaxing me for half a day.
Every time I fell ill, Aiden and Stephen would buy handmade chocolates from East Street to cheer me up.
Mom didn’t let us have too many sweets, so we’d secretly break the chocolate into three pieces.
The biggest piece was always mine.
But now…. The chocolate shop on East Street had been closed for years.
And I no longer liked chocolate.
I quietly treated my wound on my own.
Then I spent the entire day packing my belongings.
Looking around the room filled with familiar things, I felt a mix of emotions well up inside me.
This was the princess room that Aiden and Stephen had designed for me.
It was every girl’s dream paradise.

Chapter 2
I remembered the envious looks on my friends‘ faces when they came to visit.
“Emily, you’re so lucky. This pearl necklace must be from your brother, right? It’s the same design as the British royal collection. You truly are the princess of Capital City,”
“Oh, this is nothing. Look at this wooden carving! Not only is the material priceless, but Stephen carved it himself. The thoughtfulness behind it is worth more than anything else.”
Every year, Aiden and Stephen competed to see who could give me the gift I loved most.
Of all the gifts, the one that touched me the most was that wooden carving
Stephen had spent weeks carving a portrait for me, his piano playing hands riddled with cuts and scars.
Even now, the scars remained,
But while the scars lingered, the affection and love they once symbolized had long since gathered dust–just like everything else in this room.
“Emily, move to the basement for now and let Sunny have this room,” Aiden’s voice abruptly pulled me out of my thoughts.
Before I could respond, the two of them eagerly began moving my belongings out of the room.
Sunny reached for the pearl necklace, yanking it with no hesitation.
The wooden carving fell to the ground with a loud crack, splitting in two.
Stephen carelessly kicked it aside.
Noticing the change in my expression, he added indifferently, “It’s not like it’s anything important. I’ll buy you a new one later.”
“Exactly. Don’t make a big deal out of it. Once the guest room is renovated, you can move out of the basement. You just need to endure for a little while, but Sunny has to suffer three years of humiliation for your sake!”
At the Johnson family, I only needed to endure three years.
Here, the humiliation and cold treatment seemed endless.
I was no longer the little princess cherished by everyone.
A fallen heiress, a mistress who couldn’t see the light of day–I no longer deserved any of this.
