I smirked coldly. “Didn’t you just say influential figures would be arriving soon? Then I’m here at just the right time.
I glanced around the wedding venue. It was indeed lavishly decorated.
But to me, it still looked somewhat cheap.
It didn’t even compare to the grandeur of my 18th birthday party.
John sneered dismissively. “Emily Hope, what do you mean by just the right time? Who do you think you are? Are you planning to seduce some of those influential figures when they arrive?”
He looked me up and down with disdain.
“Sure, you’ve got a decent figure, but do you even know who those people are? They’re wealthy men who’ve seen countless women. You think they’d even spare a glance at someone like you?”
The commotion had attracted the attention of John’s wealthy mother, who stormed over, her face livid.
“Emily Hope, you took the money. How dare you show up here?” she hissed.
“You promised never to appear before my son again. Are you trying to pull some stunt now? Hoping to extort even more money?”
Their antics amused me, and I couldn’t help but laugh.
Seeing me laugh without saying a word, everyone grew even more curious about my identity.
The bride, Jude Parker, frowned and clung to John’s arm. “Who is this woman?” she asked.
A flicker of guilt flashed across John’s face, but he quickly comforted her with a gentle tone.
“Baby, she’s just a pathetic gold digger who’s been chasing me for three years, desperate to marry into wealth. Just have someone throw her out.”
Seeing the bodyguards behind him approaching to drag me away, I raised my voice and shouted,
“John Kinsley, is this how your family treats its guests? I came here as a wedding guest to give you and your bride a wedding gift.”
As soon as I finished speaking, their laughter grew even louder.
“Emily Hope, someone like you, born from the slums, what kind of gift could you possibly give? Probably some worthless junk!”
“And you dare call it a wedding gift? What a joke!”
John’s mother nearly tilted her nose to the ceiling in disdain, her expression full of contempt the moment I spoke.

Chapter 2
I knew exactly why she looked down on me so much and even assumed I came from poverty.
Last year, bored of driving the luxury cars my family owned, I decided to take a nanny van out for a casual drive. Unfortunately, John’s mother spotted me in it.
Ever since then, she’d made it her mission to subtly–and not so subtly–convince John to break up with me.
“John, you’ll need to marry into a wealthy family in the future. That’s just how things work in the business world. How can you marry someone like Emily Hope, a woman who doesn’t belong in our circles?”
She whispered these words to him in a corner, thinking I couldn’t hear, but I caught every word.
I found it amusing and didn’t bother to correct her.
What I didn’t expect was for their misunderstanding to deepen to such an absurd level.
No matter what I did afterward, they remained convinced I was some impoverished nobody.
I didn’t bother explaining, after all, true elites don’t concern themselves with the opinions of ants.
“Who said my gift is some worthless junk?”
I smiled nonchalantly and added, “The gifts I brought are worth over five million.”
My words immediately sparked an uproar among the guests.
“Five million? That’s no small sum. Could she really afford it? Or is she just bluffing?”
“Didn’t Mrs. Kinsley just call her a pauper? How could she casually come up with five million?”
Others, however, disagreed.
“Take a look at her outfit. That haute couture dress alone must be worth at least a million. She doesn’t exactly look like a pauper.”
“Forget the dress. Look at the jewelry on her head and ears. Those are unique pieces from a world–renowned designer, likely worth more than the bride’s wedding gown combined!”
Hearing these remarks, Jude Parker’s face turned purple with anger.
“John Kinsley, tell me the truth. Who is this woman?” she demanded.
“If there’s nothing between you two, why would she gift you five million? Is she your ex–girlfriend from those three
years?”
John quickly tried to placate her. “Baby, I swear, I’ve had nothing to do with her for a long time.”
“I don’t even know why she showed up today. Even if she stripped naked and stood in front of me, I wouldn’t give her a second glance.”
