Wadding from Hall Now It’s My Time to Shine
Chapter #
I left that place hand-
And everything in it
Cassian’s regret didn’t matter anymore.
Meanwhile, Elowen was still in the hospital, all alma
Cassian, feeling guilty, turned back to check on her.
He had requested a private room,
Thinking she needed rest,
Just as he reached the door, he heard her voice inside.
“Doc, I’m not ready to leave,
My fiancé hasn’t picked me up yet.”
The doctor sounded confused.
“You’re basically fine. No reason to stay.”
Elowen lowered her voice,
“I said I need more rest. You got a problem with me paying my bill?”
The doctor was losing patience.
“You’re taking up a hospital bed someone else could actually need.
If you don’t check out soon, I’m calling your emergency contact.”
That’s when Cassian had enough.
He burst through the door.
“No need. I’m here.”
Elowen jumped like she’d seen a ghost.
“Cassian? Why are you here?”
His eyes widened.
“You told me you were deathly ill. Doctor, what’s going on?”

The doctor looked directly at Cassian.
“This your fiancée? She’s perfectly healthy.
I’m not sure what she told you, but she’s not sick.”
Before walking out, the doctor added with a glare:
“Please process the discharge soon. Other patients need care.”
The words hit Cassian like a truck.
He stared at Elowen, furious.
“You better start explaining.”
Elowen stammered.
“He… he must’ve made a mistake. A misdiagnosis. That’s all!”
Cassian grabbed her wrist.
“Then let’s get a second opinion. Right now.”
Elowen knew it was over.
She pulled her hand back and let the tears fall.
“Fine. Maybe I’m not sick.
But I only lied because I love you!
You’re the only light I’ve ever known.
I couldn’t stand to lose you.”
Cassian blinked hard.
“There’s a whole world out there.
Why throw your whole life away for this?”
“Don’t you have a future of your own?”
That hit her like a dart through the heart.
She stopped crying immediately,
And slowly dropped her hand.
She scoffed.

Chapter 8
“Right. I don’t have a life of my own.
But you?
Yours is so perfect it makes me sick.”
She tilted her chin up and rolled her eyes.
“I’ll be honest-
Watching you happy hurt more than my own misery.”
“Why should I be the side character in someone else’s fairytale?
If I want something, I get it.”
Cassian stared at her.
The sweet, delicate girl he thought he knew-
Her face now looked twisted and unrecognizable.
He gritted his teeth.
“You make me sick.”
Elowen shoved past him and laughed coldly as she opened the door:
“Doesn’t matter.
Your life’s just as much of a mess as mine now.”
“We’re the same kind of broken.”
Cassian stood there, staring out the window-
Completely unaware that I was already thriving.
I didn’t care how wrecked he was.
This story was over.
And that was exactly how fate wanted it.
