Chapter 218
Chapter 218
Knightly
Violetta’s G–wagon pulls up in front of us. The last person I expect to get out of that thing is Perry–rage knots in my belly. Ansley and I turn to look at one another with disbelief. She storms out of the car, and I follow.
“What the fuck are you doing here, you big bitch?” Ansley shouts.
Roman and Baby burst into laughter. Perry doesn’t even acknowledge her in the slightest. I stare at her, wanting an answer because she’s supposed to be looking after Phoebe and the kids. Derek is in a summit at Nova.
“What are you doing here?” I agree with my sister.
“I can’t believe you,” she growls at me. “You called Vy and not me?”
“Where the fuck is my mate?” Ansley pushes me aside. “You’re supposed to be with her. There was an assassination attempt on her two days ago. You had one fucking job.”
“Oh, she’s with Jonas and Silas. They’re talking business. She wants to design their suits. Silas said something about it being hella difficult for them to find cute shit because they’re huge,” she shrugs.
Ansley looks over at me with complete disbelief and waves it off, mumbling she’s Phoebe’s sister over and over under her breath.
“I didn’t call Vy. I called Roman. He’s a rogue. Vy just so happened to be there and invited herself over. How the fuck did you get over here so fast?” I glare at her.
“Heft when you did. Ansley’s pilot always takes forever to take off. I ran here,” she grins. “With a backpack filled with unregistered guns. I saw her load out when you guys were talking to Phoebs. Lame. Especially for TJ.”
“You knew she was married to TJ?” I ask.
“We all knew.” Roman answers.
“I was at her wedding,” Vy adds. “How do you not know that?”
“Why wasn’t I invited?” Perry asks.
“I honestly thought you were dead. I prayed to the moon goddess for it, and she decided to pass you on to whatever gods the Lycans are. Even she hates you.” Ansley scoffs.
“I’m pretty sure Lilith can make a new one without a tongue,” Perry smiles at me.
“Okay, enough. I didn’t know she was married to T. She just told me right now.”
“You’re a terrible brother,” Baby says. “Even Vince makes you look good, and Vy literally has a complete second life he
…aware of.”
“Thank you, Ramona. That’s very lovely of you to point out,” I glare at her.
“On the way over from Vy’s, I hacked into his security system,” Perry says, handing me her tablet. “He’s running the weak ass system Eloise was selling through LT. You guys might want to go in there for a chat. He has a family.”
“Seriously?” Ansley smiles.
“Unless the plan is to kill everyone and burn the place down,” Roman says.

Chapter 218
“What’s the issue?” Ansley looks up at me.
Perry lets out a low sigh and looks away. Vy does the same.
“Let’s vote on it,” Baby suggests. “Team, don’t burn the place down over here.”
She steps behind me. Vy stands her ground behind Roman and Ansley. This is the first time since the former King died that we’ve had this problem. There have only been five of us for so long that I’ve forgotten what it was like to have a full team.
“You were the one who taught me to be thorough. This is TJ Clove. This fuck is going to become a huge problem when she takes whatever the fuck she wants from him.” Roman shakes his head.
“He’s right,” Ansley agrees. “This is about more than just the diamonds. I was hoping for a clean sweep, but if he already has an heir who can take over his pack. I will not risk him going after us. We can go in there and talk to him, but no one is coming out of that house alive.
Perry growls and goes to open the back of the G–Wagon.
“We are horrible fucking people. That’s never going to change, no matter how hard we try,” she says and opens the big ass duffle bag.
“I’ve got some good shit too,” Vy says and smacks my stomach. I follow her to help her get the box she keeps under her back seat. She goes around to the other side. “She’s right, Knight. We sold our souls, and just because he’s gone doesn’t mean we stop being what he turned us
into.
“This is just another mission. This is for-”
“Shut the fuck up, Vy.” I take an AR from inside the box. “Just shut the fuck up.”
“What’s the plan?” Roman asks.
“No talking. Just let’s get this over so we can go home.” I say.
The sound of a woman screaming is the only thing I can hear over the sound of us doing the one thing that’s been consistent since killing the wraith. We’ve been free from him for an entire year, but nothing has really changed. If anything, we’ve gotten worse. It’s like he’s mocking us from hell itself.
When it’s over, Ramona and Violetta torch the place. The three of them head back to Magique, a twenty–eight–minute drive from here. Perry doesn’t say anything, and Ansley takes calls, pretending we didn’t just do what we did for the fifth time in our lives. She’s probably done it more for our father.
“Daddy!” My heart drops at the sound of Ayrie’s voice. She’s standing at the top of the stairs holding hands with Melody.
“Ayrie,” I greet her. She smiles brightly, not knowing the kind of monster that’s standing in front of her.
I get down on one knee to scold her about being up so late. Her arms come around me. The shame and guilt somehow manage to melt away. Phoebe once told me that children carry a heavy weight on their shoulders without even knowing it.
“You finished?” she asks.
“What are you doing up so late? It’s almost one in the morning,” I lift her up and reach for Melody’s hand. She doesn’t hesitate to take it.
It’s been a while since she started to come around, and even when she comes and goes with Derek, it’s starting to feel like she’s one of ours as well. I take the two of them back up to their room and help them back into bed.
“We were waiting for you,” Melody says “Ay had a nightmare.”
“Oh, yeah? What was it?”

“You were sad,” Ayrie says, reaching for my hand. “There was a big fire.”
“Are you okay?” Melody asks.
“Yes, I am.”
“Are you sad?” Ayrie asks.
“I will never be sad when you guys are around.”
“Iris too?” the two of them ask in unison.
“Who is Iris?”
“My baby sister,” Ayrie says in a duh tone.
“Iris?” I repeat.
“It sounds just like Ayrie,” she says excitedly. “Is my favorite.”
“Okay,” I smile, loving the name actually, and how excited the twins have been about the baby. “Sleepy time for the princesses.”
“Good night, Daddy,” Ayrie says.
“Good night, King Knight,” Melody stretches. “I see you in the morning.”
