Chapter 182
Wolves are fighting all over the place. My heart drops when I see that there are bodies littered everywhere. I’m not sure if they’re ours or not. Knight and his father are at my side as we push forward, trying to find where whoever is attacking us is.
A group of hunters surrounds us and barks before they head toward the west entrance. Buddy crouches down in front of me, and I don’t hesitate to climb on. I take this moment to reload the shotgun. Once I’m ready to go, I hold on to his fur and he picks up the pace.
-Lockwoods.- Knight’s voice echoes in my head.
“What the hell are they doing all the way out here?” I ask.
-You fired one.- he reminds me. I groan and hop off his back when I see the convoy of armored trucks just outside the border.
“You guys go ahead. I’ll go around.”
They don’t hesitate. I take a deep breath to calm myself, the way Mr. Knightly has been making me practice from the moment I shifted. Midnight follows, and the two of us sneak around. Knight and his dad are causing a scene, and it’s giving me the advantage I need.
When I get behind the convoy, a sense of unease comes over me. There’s a wolf like Mr. Knightly’s nearby. I look around until I spot the woman at the front waiting for her wolves to settle down. I slowly come up behind them and climb up on one of the trucks. I fire a round in the air and slide down behind her with my shotgun aimed at the back of her head.
Everyone stops fighting, and she raises her hands in front of her enough for me to see them. Knight is the first to shift back. One of the other wolves tosses him a pair of basketball shorts, and he slips them on. They fit him a bit snug, but considering everything that’s going on, it doesn’t matter.
“What the fuck are you doing on my territory?” I demand.
“Get away from her!” a guy comes out from the crowd, aiming his gun at me.
“We both die if you fire,” I warn him. Midnight snarls, making me lean in to sniff the woman. She smells like melted caramel. “I don’t like repeating myself.”
“You have my cousins in your dungeons. I want them back,” she growls.
“You couldn’t just call? It would feel excellent to kill you and send you back to your dad for what he did to mine, Eloise Lockwood. For everything he did to my little sister. We’d celebrate afterwards, all while watching your city fall apart without you.
“You came into my pack and attacked me without so much as a call to see if your cousins were in our dungeons. That goes against protocol 671. If I kill you here and now, Lockwood City falls under Rizen law. You can’t be this fucking dumb,” I shove her forward. “Call them off, now.”
“Give me what I came for,” she growls.
“You have ten seconds.” I cock the shotgun and aim at her back.
“Eloise.” Knight steps forward. “What the fuck is your problem?”
“You and your little bitch of a mate are ruining things for everyone, Knightly. Give me my cousins and I will-”
“Beta Lockwood killed them,” Allison runs out of the treeline with a huge t–shirt on. “It was why we kicked him out. I have the footage right here. He kille six Lockwood refugees and was skimming the pack treasury for your uncle. He was the last of your blood here.”
“You’re lying,” she snarls.
“She’s not,” I confirm. “I could have killed him for what he did, but this is exactly what I wanted to prevent. How many casualties?”
“Sixteen, Alpha Rizen.” Ren answers. She comes over to me dressed in spandex shorts and a sports bra. She’s covered in claw marks and bite wounds.

“You’re under arrest. All of you,” I say, and wave my hand forward. “Your King is going to want to see what you did.”
“Eloise,” the man aiming the gun at me puts his hands up and slowly lowers his weapon to the floor. “I warned you. Baby, put it away. We can still för
this.”
“Send the hunters out to bring Henry here. Savage is going to want someone to kill,” she raises her hands.
Allison doesn’t hesitate to put her down. The other hunters come over to her and cuff her as Allison reads her the pack rights. I’m guessing the guy is her mate. Alpha Graeson. Perry has mentioned him a few times since we met. He’s supposed to be an underground fighter who has just recently discovered he’s mated to his alpha.
Eloise Lockwood has a very sad beginning. Her wolf manifested as feral, due to the silver poison she was fed when she was taken from her home. She’s been able to keep it from overwhelming her. Luna Miller, the world’s top feral wolf specialist, has been working with her, but she’s impulsive and tends to act without thoroughly considering the consequences, as in this case.
I pinch the bridge of my nose as I call Derek. He is not going to be happy about this, and neither is Perry, but now that I know who they are and the concern I felt has cleared a bit, I think this could be beneficial for my new bestie, Violetta Wolfe. She wants something from these people, and I finally get to do her a solid to even all the favors she’s been doing for me lately.
“I know I’m late. Mel got car sick, and we stopped at the ranch with your mother–in–law. She’s being very hospitable,” he answers happily. Dammit. I am about to ruin his day. He rarely gets any good ones.
“Derek, we were attacked,” I sigh. “I have sixteen casualties.”
“What? When? By who?” he growls.
“Eloise Lockwood. We have her and her remaining convoy, but it was all on Henry. He lied to her. He said we had the six other Lockwoods put away. I think you should get here as soon as possible. Maybe Elliot can grant you a ride on the Halo.”
“I’m on my way. Don’t do anything stupid. Eloise can
be very
unreasonable.”
“Okay,” I agree.
“Are you okay?” Knight runs over to me. He pats me down and cups my face to look into my eyes.
“I’m-” I shake my head. “I’m not hurt if that’s what you’re asking.”
“I’m sorry,” he says quietly and hugs me. “Your first attack is always the worst.”
“It’s not the first,” I remind him as his dad comes over to sniff me. He lies down beside me and looks away as if he were minding his own business. We all know he’s not. “I think we should call Vy.”
“For what?”
“Eloise attacked us under false pretenses and killed sixteen of my wolves. She has to give me something to prevent me from asking for the death penalty. I don’t want shit from her, but you know who does?”
“The Wolfes,” he smirks, pinching my chin.
“We should run a perimeter check and get the injured wolves medical attention. I’m going to make sure the twins are okay. Derek is on his way.”
“You call Vy,” he agrees and pats his dad on the head. “We’ll do the heavy lifting, Alpha Rizen.”
