Hunter
Kalden, Mason and I slipped out of the house earlier than normal this morning. We mainly wanted to avold Mom and t Dad’s, but really we needed to get to Isla and apologise before shit got spilled to them that we may have fucked up with looking after her. She didn’t answer any of nur calls or messages, we all tried last night and this morning, but her på remained off, which just told us that we were plain as day, In the dog house. We pull up out the front of Mia’s family home and knock on the door. After a few minutes of waiting Kaiden speaks up.

“There’s no cars in the garage.” Mason comes to my side after scoping around the house.

Finally, the door opens, and a very messy looking Min stands in her minnie mouse pajamas, mouth opened, and eyebrows raised to the fucking roof before she slams the door shut.

Mia shakes me awake violently. Stirring up the alcohol and ecstasy I indulged in after last night’s session.
“Dude! Get up! Your brothers are downstairs at my front door!”

“Always!” I yell back, throwing off my outfit and hoping straight into the cold shower.

The door opens again just before we were about to kick it in. I stand with my arms crossed looking down at the mess of a girl in the doorway.
“Uh, sorry about that. Please, come in… Ila is just in the shower.”
I walk in, flanked by Hunter and Mason and take a look at the space in front of me that I’ve never been in, despite the

I slide my finger along a few photo frames of her and her parents that line a table in the entryway and shrug my

“It’s a nice house. Your parents must be important people.”
“They’re realtors.”

She leaves the room and us standing here with nothing else to do but walt.
“Weird that Isla isn’t up and ready yet.” Mason comments.
“What do you mean? She’s always the last to come down for breakfast.”
“She’s awake before all of us, just takes her longer to get ready.” He says like it’s a fact everyone should know. Hunter and 1 share a silent look at each other, but before we can comment on that weird piece of information, Isla comes practically crashing down the staircase in front of us.
“Oh, hey guys! Time for school? Great, let’s go! BYE MIA!“, and she runs straight past us and into the car outside.
“She’s awfully chipper.” Hunter clips.

Mason
I’m now more than ever trying to avoid Isla. No bullets in my head, no thank you. I slip into the back seat next to her and chance a look hoping she won’t notice. Her gaze his fixed out the window like there’s something really interesting out there. She’s already put her headphones in, and I don’t miss the way her leg bounces rapidly and her fingers dance like she’s playing the piano. She’s high. I grit my teeth and clench my fists. “Isla. Hello, earth to Isla? Kaiden speaks from the front seat.
“She has her headphones in.”

“You’ve got all day to apologise, just wait until lunch or something.” I tell him to which he looks back and nods at me.

the oval. Hunter, Kalden and I choose to join the football game, while fala has chosen to run laps around the field. I note the way she bounces with energy as her group warms up before they set of in a leisurely run, while Isla gries off in a full sprint. I’m too busy watching and observing to see the hall Kaiden throws me, and the tackle Hunter is about to deliver. The ball smacking me in the side of the head as Hunter pushes me to the ground.
“Where’s your head at today, man?” Hunter asks as we get up from the ground.
“Didn’t sleep well,”
“Hmm…right.” He says curiously before running off.
Before the bell rings, the teacher tells us to go shower and change. Everyone heads off to the changing room and I watch as Isla continues her laps unaware. Sighing, I realise I have to intervene before someone else notices. I stand in the middle of the track that she will soon come to and wall. She frowns and slows down when she realises.
“What the fuck are you doing to yourself, Isla?” I ask in a serious tone.
“Oh, I exist now? Funny, I didn’t realise it was possible to turn on and off invisibility powers.”
“You’re mad at me.” It’s not really a question, I know she’s mad…
Oh no, no, no, no, no, Mason. I’m over the e moon with you. Maybe we should have a June wedding, what do you think?” She rattles off sarcastically before trying to walk away. I reach out and grab her arm to stop her and she shoots daggers right through my soul with that look.
