Lily’s Povi
Chapter 9 – Home Sweet HomeX
Ladies and Gentlemen, this is your Captain speaking. We’re beginning our descent into Washington DC. Please fasten your seatbelts and return electronic devices to airplane mode. Thank you for your cooperation.“”
i relaxed back in the plane and heaved a sigh of relief as I stared out of the window and watched the plane descend.
For the first time in fifteen years, I was away from the boys and I was away from New York and it felt so fucking good.
Twenty minutes later, the plane had landed and I grabbed my bag and was heading to the hall for arrivals.
I wondered what was happening now that Jacob and Peter must have found the fake body I had bought and planted in the house before setting the place on fire.
I hadn’t just burned the house out of revenge, I had plotted my death to have them suffer for a bit before they realize that I’m alive and coming for them.
“Lilian!” a sharp familiar voice shouted.
I turned in the direction of the voice and I saw my mother standing a few feet away from me.
She looked so different. Very beautiful and she seemed to have aged a bit but not so much.
Without thinking, I ran straight into her outstretched arms as I buried my face in her chest and began to cry.
Her warm scent enveloped me as she kissed my hair and whispered sweet words to my ears.
“There, there, you’re home now. Hush, baby,” she patted my hair.
knew she was saying those words to console me but they made me cry harder.
For fifteen years I abandoned my family and I forgot what it feels like to have the strong warmth of a mother.
I had no idea how long I held her and cried but I just did. I cried because I wasted fifteen years of my life. I cried because I missed her so much.E
I cried because I hated leaving home and never coming back. I cried because of the boys and Nadine’s betrayal. I cried for the loss of my children. And lastly, I cried because I’d never be able to have another child.
It felt like the horrors I’ve witnessed for the past seven days had come back to haunt me as I clung to my mother for my dear life.
When I finally stopped crying and pulled away, I realized that my mom had also joined me in crying. She was dabbing at the corners of her eyes.§
“Oh my sweet beautiful baby girl, what have they done to you?” she sobbed, caressing my cheeks.
I shook my head, “I’m just happy to be home now, Mom.“}
And indeed I was. Because this was the last tears I would ever shed over them. Right now all I could think of was ways to get my revenge.
“Yes, baby girl. Let’s go home,” my mother smiled.}
“What about daddy?” I asked worriedly.
“Your father had a board meeting with some investors earlier today. He’s still at work but we should see him later today,” my mom answered.
The security men opened the door of the limousine for us and we got in.§
“If only you’d been home since your father could have handed over the family business to you and retired,” my mother said.
I placed my hand on her knees, “I’m back now, Mommy, and if
will let me then I will take over.”
My mother smiled, “Oh my darling, I’m sure your dad will agree but don’t you need to rest first? I’m sure you’ve been through a lot these few days.”
I was about to protest when the doctor’s words resounded in my mind.”
“If you don’t rest you will die!”
I shook my head, I needed to rest so I would be able to carry out all my plans against Reynolds and the Greys, Nadine’s family.
“Alright, Mom, I guess I can rest for a few days,” I agreed.”
The car came to a stop as the door was opened and we stepped out.
I stared at the massive castle I had grown up in and a small smile formed on my lips. I stared at the water fountain, the mermaid ice sculpture my dad had erected for me, and the garden of roses he made because of me.
When I was little he used to give me and my mom roses every single day. All the memories washed into me and I smiled.
I lived my best days here and I was so happy I was back here even though I will be getting married to someone else soon.
“I’m glad you’re back baby,” my mom said.”
I smiled at her, “Me too.”
Just then a phone rang and for a split second I thought it was mine before I realized I had tossed it into the bin at the airport.
My mother pulled out her phone from her handbag and answered the call when suddenly her expression morphed into fear.
“What’s wrong, Mom?” I asked her.
“It’s your father. He’s had a heart attack.”
