Chapter 28- Where Damon Gets His Charm

“How could you be so cruel? We went through all that shit for nothing! I’ll kill you,” Jacob yelled like a mad person.

As I walked away the security men in the courtroom grabbed him and his pathetic brother who was wailing on the floor.

My driver opened the car door for me and we drove off just as my phone rang. “Princess, you left me on read,” Damon’s smooth voice sounded over the receiver.

I sighed in contentment, after the day I had, his voice felt like a welcome relief.

“Oh, boy, I know what that sigh means. Where should I come meet you?” he asked.

“I’m on my way to your penthouse, Mr. Sterling,” I answered.

Damon gasped dramatically, “Oh dear, isn’t it scandalous for young engaged couples to be alone in a big house?”

I laughed, “I’m coming for dinner, Damon, and if you behave maybe I’ll let you have dessert.” “Now, that’s quite an enticing proposal. See you soon, Princess.”

The call ended and I relaxed my back. I didn’t feel a single guilt toward what happened to the boys because I made sure that everyone was very careful in the roles they played.

Whereas when I went through everything no one was fucking concerned about my well-being. Hell, they cut my stomach open to bring out a dead baby.

When they made me kneel on broken glass under rain or when they left me to bleed to death in a freezing bathroom they didn’t think about me one bit.

Now I was finally done with the boys. Their company would shut down and they would remain at the bottom scraping for food like the dogs they were.

The car came to a stop in front of Damon’s penthouse. I got out and ordered my driver to gc

home.

Damon met me in the lobby, flashing that lazy grin, and guided me toward the elevator.

“How are you?” he asked me.

I sighed and then fell into his arms. At first I just wanted to hug him but then I ended up falling apart in his arms.

I cried until there were no tears left. The elevator had long arrived but we didn’t get out. He held me close, whispering sweet soothing words in my ears.

“I’m sorry, I don’t know what came over me,” I mumbled in his chest, sniffling.

He sighed, rubbing my hair, “That’s alright, Princess, you don’t have to apologize for crying, you’re human with emotions.”

“I saw Jacob and Peter in my office today. They asked for my help and I promised to help only if they do as I asked. I recreated every single thing I faced for them to go through. I made sure they weren’t hurt critically and even though it made me feel better when everything was over now I’m wondering if I’m a psycho for not feeling any guilt and -”

My words were cut short when Damon’s lips pressed against mine, silencing me. I closed my eyes and leaned into the kiss, melting in his arms and welcoming the sudden distraction.

When he pulled away, I was smiling and hiding my face in his chest.

“You’re not a psycho, Princess, you’re a good person who was taken advantage of and whatever

you

did to Jacob and Peter, they sure as hell had it coming,” Damon said.

I stared at him and smiled, “You mean that?”

Damon kissed my forehead, “Princess, deep down you know it’s true. Now, come, my grandfather is dying to meet you.”

We stood up and left the elevator only to see his grandfather standing before us. The man had streaks of grey hair in his black hair but he still looked very strong and healthy.

“I was wondering if you guys would stop making out in that elevator,” the old man said.

I blushed and laughed, “Now, I can see where Damon got his charms from.”

The man laughed, “Oh jolly, you’re a fine young thing. Back in my days, I would have fought my grandson for your hand.”

I laughed, relieved to be in their midst, “Gosh, grandpa, you’re so funny.”

He grinned, “I know, that’s why the gals still come over. I have a girlfriend who’s supposed to visi in an hour. I need you kids to be in your bedroom by then.”

I couldn’t stop laughing. Grandpa had joined us for our meal and it was fun. Though true to his words, an hour later a beautiful grandma arrived looking for him.

He winked at us, “Told ya.”

Damon groaned as he led me to his bedroom while I laughed.

‘Your grandfather is so sweet,” I said.

He nodded, “Yeah, and he’s famous among the ladies.”

‘What about your grandma?” I asked.

‘She’s dead. Died a long time ago. Grandpa raised me after my parents died and he only just overcame his wife’s death and depression a few years ago,” Damon explained.

‘Awww, he’s such a sweet soul,” I gushed.

Damon grinned, “Wanna know what else is sweet? Nadine’s case file arrived for me today. It has everything needed to let her rot in jail. You’re going to be shocked at what we’ve found out.” Damon handed me the folder and my eyes widened in horror as I stared at the documents. ‘God, she’s evil. And I thought Jacob and Peter were,” I sighed.

Damon shrugged, “Now, I behaved myself and cooked you dinner. How about that dessert you promised me, huh? I could use some dessert before we crash a party tomorrow.”

I laughed as I dropped the documents and grabbed his shirt.

“You, Mr. Sterling, is one dirty-minded devil,” I grinned.

Damon kissed me, “You love it.” He kissed me again and he was right, I loved it.

I didn’t go home that night, I spent every second of it in Damon’s arms, naked and having the best night of my life.
