Chapter 24 – Confessions & Stalker

The sound of Jacob’s nose breaking was so satisfying I had to take a picture.

“Here, love, let me get that for you,” I grinned, dabbing at Damon’s knuckles with a handkerchief.

Jacob was about to lunge at Damon when the security men finally arrived and dragged him out.

Damon stared at me, his eyes shining with worry.

“I’m so sorry, Lily, I had no idea he would be here,” he apologized.

I shook my head, “It’s alright, Damon, it’s not your fault.”

He sighed, “I know you handled that well but I should have punched him earlier. I’m sorry I just couldn’t stomach the trash he was saying about you. What a narcissistic asshole.”

I smiled at him, “Well, I’m glad I have you. You’re my knight-in-shining armor and you know how to have fun in crowded places.”

Damon arched a brow at me, his eyes twinkling with mischief, “Well, now, seems I’ve rubbed off my flirty vibes on you, Princess.”

laughed, “Just a little. It makes everything so much better.”

‘I’ve informed the security to get rid of Peter and Nadine. They were also spotted on the grounds,” he said to me.

smiled warmly, “You spoil me.”

Damon gasped dramatically, “I haven’t even started yet, princess, the things I wanna do to you will leave your mind spoiled and your heart racing. Just imagine it.”

His voice dropped to a whisper as he leaned in and whispered incoherent words in my ears. I felt a shiver crawl up my spine as the warmth pooled between my legs.

was blushing furiously by the time he pulled away. I knew he hadn’t said anything that made sense but I understood everything he said.

‘Oh my, Princess, you’re so dirty-minded,” he teased.

blushed again and slapped his arm playfully, “Stop it because I turn into a tomato.”

Just then a couple who were passing us stopped and the woman giggled.

‘Oh dear, I recognize young love when I see it,” she said.

The man nodded, “Yes, honey, her face is all red like how yours gets whenever we’re in the bedroom.”

The woman’s face turned red immediately and mine didn’t seem to get better either.

‘Darling, don’t say such things out loud,” the woman whispered, then offered us an apology and left.

Damon stared at me and sighed, “Oh shit!”

I turned to him worriedly, “What’s wrong?”

Damon ran a hand through his hair, “It seems, Princess, that I’m slowly catching the infectious disease that you’re spreading through the air.”

I frowned, “What are you talking about?”

“I have no clue but everyone is talking about it. This couple, your dad, my grandfather -”

“You have a grandfather? Why do you never talk about him? When do I meet him? Also what disease is this?” I rambled my questions to him.

Damon laughed, “I have a grandfather, yes, and you can meet him whenever you want. Also, it seems this disease is love and the cure is a kiss.”

I blushed again, as I looked away, “Are you saying, you’re in love with me, Damon?” I asked tentatively.

Damon touched his jaw, looking deep in thought, “I don’t know, Princess, maybe if you kiss me I’ll figure it out.”

I slapped his arm playfully, “You doofus, you’re funny.”

The art gallery ended on a good note and for the first time since the history of art, I had fun. Damon drove me home and when he pulled up in front of my house he stared at me with a serious expression.

“Baby girl, I wasn’t joking back then. I haven’t felt this way for a very long time and I know we started out as an arranged marriage to have our revenge but I’ve never seen anyone quite like you. You’re unique, beautiful, intelligent and despite all you’ve been through you’re resilient. I’m in love with you, Lily. I didn’t admit it to myself all these while but it’s so painfully obvious. The very moment I saw you I wanted to kiss you and do a lot of things to you.”

My cheeks reddened at his words. He laughed and continued.

“I figured it was probably my raging hormones so I went to get laid. I found someone but I couldn’t go through with it. Like an annoying bug your face kept popping up and I left. It’s been weeks and now I’m certain it’s not just lust I feel for you. I wanna be with you every single day and suddenly I’m looking forward to our wedding.”

I took a deep breath, my eyes widening as I stared at him.

Earlier in the art gallery I just thought he was fooling around but now he was being so sincere and I was speechless.

For the first time since I returned from New York, I was fucking speechless.

My chest was tight. Every muscle screamed at me to run, to shut him down before he could hurt

me too.

“I… I… I don’t know what to say,” I mumbled.

Damon smiled, “You don’t have to say anything, Princess, I know you’ve been through a lot and it’s selfish of me to dump this on you like this. Just take your time and if you don’t want me around and want to back out of the wedding I completely understand and I will still support you and help you get revenge. Just think about what you want.”

Damon kissed my forehead as he helped me out of the car. He waved me goodbye and left while I stood there still shaken up.

“Wow!” I exclaimed.

“Lily, can we talk?” a voice said behind me.

I rolled my eyes and turned to see Jacob and Peter staring at me with guilty eyes. “What are you doing here? And which security guard is getting fired tonight?”
