Chapter 21 – The Confrontation

Lily’s Pov

“Not today, Satan!” I snapped, as I stepped out of the way.

Nadine crashed into the mirror and glared at me like I had done something awful.

People gathered and started whispering amongst themselves as Nadine suddenly started her fake sobbing.

“How could you push me, Lily?” she wailed, “I only wanted to see the dress. Why are you being so mean?”

I scoffed, “Get your shit together, Lily. No one is buying your fake act. This isn’t New York, and not everyone is Jacob and Peter.”

Nadine looked around to see that indeed no one seemed to be buying her disgusting attitude as she growled.

“You bitch! You will pay for this,” she hissed at me.

I smoothed the dress on my body and smiled, “Yes, Nadine, I’m going to pay for this dress because it’s stunning.”

“Take it off or else I’ll rip it from your body,” Nadine snapped.

I walked up to her and stared her dead in the eyes as my voice dropped to a whisper.

“I’d like to see you try,” I stated.

I noticed the way she gasped, I guess she expected me to cower in fear.

“You… you…” Nadine stuttered, trailing off angrily.

I smirked, “Cat got your tongue, honey? Or are you just dumb?”

The salesgirl snickered behind me. Nadine looked around and saw that no one was paying her any attention and then she screamed.

“She’s a thief, she doesn’t even have money to pay for this dress!”

I rolled my eyes at her, “Is that the best you can do, huh?”

Nadine ignored me and grabbed the salesgirl.

‘Hey, you! Tell the truth, this filth hasn’t paid for this dress, right?”

The girl whimpered, “Miss, you’re hurting me.”

‘Shut your trap and answer my fucking question!” Nadine snapped.

“The dress was ordered by our VIP and she paid for the dress because she’s a VIP. Please refrair from hurling insults at the customers and staff,” a man snapped behind us.

Nadine’s grip on the salesgirl loosened as she turned to the man who was wearing a tag labelled ‘manager.’

“No, I’m just trying to save your stores from thieves and people who’d cause trouble. Like her!” she said, pointing at me.

The man looked around the store and his eyes finally landed on Nadine.

He said sternly, “It seems you’re the only one that fits in that category. Security!”

3:00 pm

Nadine took a step back, “No, of course not, I’m here for shopping. That bitch is the one who deserves to be thrown out,” she pointed at me.

I chuckled and waved at her, “Bye, trash.”

The security arrived and dragged Nadine away as she kept screaming and thrashing in their grip. “Do you know who I am? You’ll all regret this! This isn’t over, Lily, I’ll get you for this!”

The moment she was dragged out and her voice faded, the manager walked up to me.

“Are you alright, Ma’am?” he asked me.

I nodded, “Thank you, I’m alright.”

“Then please change out of the dress so it can be packaged for you,” he smiled politely and left.

I went back to the dressing room and returned shortly with the dress. The salesgirl took it to pack it.

A few minutes later, Damon returned with a smile on his face.

“Did you miss me, Princess?” he asked, kissing my cheeks.

I blushed, “Stop doing that, we’re outside.”

He shrugged, “I don’t care, Princess.”

“While you were gone, Nadine came to the store,” I informed him.

He stilled for just a second before he stared at me.

“I thought she was in New York,” he said.

I shrugged, “Yeah, I thought so too.”

Then a slow smirk formed on his face, “Tell me everything.”

As we drove back home I recounted to him with every single detail he had missed earlier and he laughed heartily.

“Oh, I wish I were there to see it. You’re such a badass now, Princess,” he said, pulling up in front of my house.

I turned and stared at him, concern etched on my face.

“I know it’s been years but you loved Nadine and she hurt you. Have you gotten over it?” I asked

him.

He shrugged, “I was badly crushed by what Nadine had done, yes, but that was years ago. Now, I just wanna return the favor. She tried to ruin my life, Lily, and it would have been ruined if I hadn’t decided I could do better than that.”

I nodded, “I understand. Guess they’ve all ruined our lives and now it’s time for them to pay.” Damon smiled, “Nadine arrived in time, by the way, her file will be completed in two days and then we can take her down.”

I felt an overwhelming satisfaction from his words.

“I can’t wait and I’ll be the one standing over her crushed soul and having the last laugh,” I grinned.
