Chapter 20 – Shopping, Kisses, and Nadine
After my date with Damon-and everything he revealed about the doctor-I couldn’t sleep a wink
Early the next morning I was dressed up and informed my mom to take me to the hospital for a checkup.
As we waited for the doctor in the hospital room to return with my test results my mom held my hands.
“I’m so sorry for what Nadine did, Princess. You didn’t deserve any of it,” my mom said gently.
When I came home from the date, they made me spill every detail-and I did, because they’ve missed too much of my life already.
I also told them about what Damon had said about my inability to have children.
“Thanks, Mom. I’m so glad I have you and dad to support me through all this,” I said to her smiling gratefully.
The door opened and the doctor stepped inside with a smile.
“Lily, while you’ve gone through a lot in these past few weeks I’m happy to tell you that your body is fully recovered. Your womb is neat, healthy, and perfectly capable of carrying a baby,” th doctor announced.
I heaved a sigh of relief I had been holding so badly and I hugged my mom, tears of joy rolling down my cheeks.
When I was done crying and laughing, we thanked the doctor and went back home.
The moment we arrived home I saw my dad drinking with Damon.
I rolled my eyes at him, “Mr. Sterling, I didn’t realize you missed me so much after our date las night.”
Damon chuckled, “I admit that thought is tempting, Princess, but I came here with an invitation.”
He handed me a card and I frowned.
‘An art gallery? Today?” I asked.
He nodded, “Normally, I’d go with your father for these things but since you’re the new CEO anc an investor in the Art foundation you should be present.”
I groaned, “But you didn’t tell me about this when we met yesterday.”
Damon smirked, “I was a little distracted.”
“I don’t even have anything to wear to the art gallery thingy,” I complained.
My mom suddenly spoke, “It’s tonight. Damon can take you shopping.”
My father agreed, “Yes, Damon. Don’t you have a luxury boutique that’s a sub of your company?”
Damon nodded, “I do and I heard they imported new dresses. There’s a lovely outfit from Armani. Let’s go check it out, Princess.”
Damon extended his arms and I stared at my parents who were smiling innocently at me but I knew exactly what they had in mind.
I sighed and took his hand as he led me to his car. We drove off and arrived in front of the boutique then he turned to me.
“Are you alright, Lily? After last night.”
His question warmed my heart and I smiled at him.
“You realize you’re so sweet,” I said.
He leaned in so that our noses were almost touching, then he whispered, “Can I taste your sweetness?”
I almost fainted from his boldness as my cheeks reddened.
I was going to pull back when he reached out and cupped my cheeks then before I could blink he closed the distance between us.
His lips were warm and minty as his tongue plunged into my mouth, fighting for dominance with
mine.
I moaned slightly, giving him access to my mouth as he sucked on my bottom lip. His hand encircled my neck, pulling me closer from across the car.
I could feel his other hand in my hair while he kissed me fiercely. I got so lost in the kiss as I felt the flutter in my stomach, the wetness pool between my legs and I ran my hands through his
hair.
Eventually he pulled away and I gasped for air, already missing his warm lips on mine.
“Was that all the sweetness you needed?” I found myself asking shyly.
Damon smirked, “I don’t know, Princess, I’d have to taste you again in a more comfortable place.
My face reddened, “Are you always this flirty?”
He smirked, “Nope, only for girls I like to see them squirm and you’re the only one on that list, my sweet pretty fiancée.”
groaned, “You seem to be enjoying this so much.”
He chuckled, “Is that so obvious?”
Then he stepped out of the car and helped me out. We walked into the boutique and all eyes
urned to stare at me.
Damon walked up to the salesgirl with me, his hands around my waist.
‘Where’s the Armani dress? My beautiful fiancée needs it for an art gallery today,” he said.
The girl nodded, “Right away, sir.”
She left and returned shortly with the dress. I entered the changing room and stepped out shortly feeling unsure.
‘Are you sure this doesn’t scream too much?” I asked, holding the floor-length black velvet gown against my body as I stared into the mirror.
It fit my body perfectly like a second skin and it was truly beautiful and very radiant as it was embedded with diamond stones.
‘Princess,” Damon drawled from the boutique couch, “if by ‘too much’ you mean it screams queen who owns the night’-then yes, it screams. Keep it.”
I laughed, “Alright then.” I smoothed the dress as I stared at the mirror when Damon’s phone
rang.
“Give me a second, darling, I have to take this. Don’t miss me too much,” he grinned and kissed my forehead.
After he left I kept staring at the mirror and then I nodded my head.
“This is the one.”
Suddenly I heard a gasp behind me followed by a familiar voice.
“No. Tell me that filthy thing isn’t wearing my dress!”
I turned to see Nadine standing in front of me, her face twisted in a rage.
I scoffed, “What ill wind blew you in here, Nadine?”
Then without warning she lunged at me, “Take off my fucking dress!”
