Chapter 16 – Blackmail and Victory

The board members stared at me as I shook hands with the man who was grinning like he just won a lottery.

“I want it in writing,” the man said, immediately.

I smirked, this man is so predictable, “Sure.”

The secretary came in and started typing the draft of the agreement. Soon she had it printed and we both signed, holding a copy.

The man patted my shoulders like a loving father except he was leering at me.

“You can stop this now and the humiliation will be lesser,” he said.

I smiled politely, “Have a good day. Meeting adjourned.”.

When they left it was just me and my father in the board room.

He turned to me with a smile, “As much as I love you, Princess, but why the hell did such a deal?”

I laughed, “Calm down, Daddy, remember the doctor said you shouldn’t get stressed.” My dad glared at me, “Well, you’ve succeeded in stressing me. How do you intend to fix this?”

‘I have a secret weapon daddy, who happened to just walk right in,” I answered, lifting my eyes to the door as Damon stepped inside.

‘Your secretary said you’ll be here. Hello, Lucas, lovely day, Lily,” Damon said.

I kissed my father’s forehead, “See you soon, Papa.”

Then with that I walked out of the board room, dragging Damon along.

‘Calm down, Princess, what’s the rush? You have me all to yourself no need to drag,” he grinned as we entered the elevator.

glared at him, “Stop making everything you say have sexual innuendos you’re sending the wrong message.”

was still upset from last night when I thought he was going to kiss me and he didn’t.

But I was even more upset with myself because what the hell was I thinking?!

The elevator got to the ground floor and I handed him the document I had signed earlier today.

‘Oh shit!” he chuckled, “First day and you’re already giving them hell.”

shrugged, “The man was acting like an asshole. Trying to put me down because he’s a man and I’m a woman new to the company.”

“Oh, alright then. Let’s go pay Judge Harris a visit,” he grinned.

He opened his car door and I stepped into the Porsche then he quickly got in and drove off. A few minutes later, we were in front of the courthouse.

Standing in front of a courthouse for the first time in four years brought back memories.

I had stood in a similar courthouse in New York four years ago grinning happily like an idiot thinking I’d married Jacob, the love of my life.

“We won’t have a court wedding if you don’t want one,” Damon said quietly beside me. I turned to him and smiled, “It’s alright. Back then I was stupid now I’m not. Let’s go.”

We walked inside and met with a snobby receptionist who scoffed the moment she saw us.

“Sir, I’ve told you to stop coming here. Judge Harris doesn’t see anyone,” she said immediately.

I turned to Damon, amused, “You’re being turned down from entering somewhere? Wow, who would have thought?”

Damon smirked and leaned in to whisper in my ear, “She doesn’t know who I am and I’ve visited here quite a lot.”

When he pulled away slightly, I felt his breath ‘on my neck as I inhaled sharply, feeling flutters ir my stomach.

“Get a room!” the receptionist snapped.

I stumbled back, my cheeks reddening as I looked away. Damon dropped something on the

desk.

“Show Judge Harris and tell him there’s a lot more where that came from,” he said.

The receptionist grumbled a bit before she left. She returned shortly frowning.

“He’s asking for you.”

Damon smiled as we walked into the office and took the elevator stopping at the third floo which was his office.

The moment we entered, Judge Harris was fuming at the mouth.

“What madness is this? Who are you? What do you want? How did you get this tape? Do you

know who I am?”

He rambled off a series of threats while I and Damon watched him quietly.

“Shut the fuck up, you piece of shit!” I suddenly snapped.

He looked taken aback, even Damon looked impressed.

“Who… who do you think you are? I won’t have

‘I said shut up!” I snapped again.

“1

you

The man trembled slightly and sank into his seat, his eyes wide with fear.

“I’m sick of shitty men like you thinking they can do anything they want and get away with it simply because they’re in power,” I snapped, “Now you will destroy that goddamn patent case that was filed against Hart Cooperation because we damn well know your fucking family stole

the idea first.”

I placed another flash drive on his desk and bent to his eyelevel.

“If you don’t, we’ll have all your dirty linens washed and aired outside to dry,” I said in a dangerous voice.

“No! Please don’t,” he squeaked, “I’ll do whatever you want.”

His fingers were already typing at his computer.

“I’ve issued an edict, the case has been canceled. Hart Corporation can begin production and all products produced by Grey Enterprise will be confiscated,” he stated.

Just then my phone beeped as my dad’s text message came through.

‘How did you do it, Princess? The case has been dismissed!’

I smiled at him, “Now, that wasn’t so hard. So when anyone asks you, just tell them Lucas Hart’s daughter dropped by with her fiancé.”

With those words, I turned and sashayed out of there, smiling happily.

Damon met me outside after a few minutes. He stared at me with a smile.

“You went off on him there. I love it, this suits you,” he said.

I smiled, “I love it for me too.”

“So, what do you say after your victory at the office we have dinner tonight. Just you and me some music, wine, and red roses,” he said.

I smirked, “I don’t know, Mr. Sterling, I’ll have to check my schedule.”

Damon chuckled as he drove me back to the office.

“Don’t leave a guy hanging by his dick, Princess,” he said as I got off.

I burst into laughter, “You always say the right and wrong things.”

Then I walked back into the company where everyone was staring at me like a heroine.

got to the board room and all the board members were already there including my father.

My eyes landed on the man I made the deal with and I smirked.

“Get out,” I said.

Come now, Ms. Hart, it was just a little game. Surely we can come to some kind of arrangement?” he asked, laughing awkwardly.

I dropped the document in front of him and smirked, “Maybe if you hadn’t insisted we put it in writing I would have reconsidered but sorry it’s been documented, rules are rules.”

I stood with my head held high as I watched him walk out of the company with his shoulders slumped.

Victory tasted very sweet and I couldn’t wait for more victories.
