So, It Just Hangs Like That?
Ayla
“So it just hangs like that?”
“Yep.”
“For a long time?”
“No.”
“Does it sleep a lot?”
“All the time.”
“Does it bite?”
“For now.”
“How does it drink?”
“From this tiny bottle.”
“Where does it stay?”
“In my tit crack.”
“Can we NOT talk about breast right now. That is a freaking opossum. Why are you coming into our room with it?” Thane growls as I ask Raven a hundred questions about their new friend, whom Raven pulled out of her bra.
“We need you to watch it for sexy time,” Cyrus answers as the oppossum dangles from his finger.
“NO. NO. Absolutely not. Get that damn thing out of here!” Thane yells.
“DO NOT talk about our baby like that.” Cyrus points a finger at him.
“Go put it in a cage!” Thane suggests, rubbing his temples.
“I would think you, of all shifters, would understand why we are opposed to using them!” Cyrus lifts his finger out, holding the opossum in front of my face. It promptly hisses at me.
“We riled each other up all day house hunting and need time alone. Jr. here is awake now and needs to be watched.” Cyrus explains more calmly now.

“Did you find a place? I asked excitedly. Not necessarily to get rid of them, but I genuinely want. them to be happy and for my mate to complain less.
“We did.” Raven answers, scratching the opossum on the back.
“Good. Go do your sexy time in it and take your tree tat with you.” Thane responds.
“We can’t do it in our new place because it needs updating, and everybody knows tree rats are squirrels. Our baby is an opossum.
OH–POS–SUM.” Cyrus sounds out for Thane, who will probably kill Cyrus tonight.
“You were supposed to find something move–in ready, Live in it until the updating is done. Thane
“We can’t. We bought the old abandoned chop shop. I need to hire some cleaners and somebody to put a bathroom and kitchen in somewhere, then it will be fine.”
“What? You can’t live there. It has been abandoned for years.” Thane gestures his arms out wildly,
frustration building.
“I’m aware. We don’t require much. A place to eat, sleep, and fu..”
“Get out of my room.” Thane interrupts Cyrus, at his wits‘ end with him, I believe. He is also very touchy about Cyrus using certain words and innuendos around me.
He obviously isn’t fully aware of how Raven talks.
“Fine, but we are going to be extra loud tonight just because of this.” Cyrus turns and takes Raven and their new baby with them.
Well, it gives them something to do besides each other all the time, I suppose.
“Come on, Little Wolf, let’s get in the shower, and you can let me worship your body in there and again in your nest. I need to apologize somewhere in between here as well.” Thane sweeps me off my feet and, as I squeal, he carries me to the bathroom.
The next morning, Raven arrives with her new friend, and I decide to reveal my plan and see what
her thoughts are about it.
“So, while Thane and Cyrus are doing the video meeting with one of the Alphas in their alliance, we
could go to Kian’s bar and do surveillance on his brothers.”
“Where is this coming from?” Raven questions as she bottle feeds her furry baby.
“All of the team members are spread too thin. Tyler doesn’t have enough help going through files right now, and I overheard Thane talking about Kian’s brothers taking over the bar. We could go in

and take photos on our phones of any shifters that look susplelous or anything illegal we see and help the team out.” I explain, wondering for a few days now if I should approach her about this, the team needs help, and I feel that by not utilizing Raven and me, the team isn’t working at its full potential.
All I heard was you asking me to take you out to do something stupid that will get me killed by your mate, Raven grumbles.
“Or you heard that we could be helpful.” I counter.
“We do not know who or what we are looking for,” Raven responds, trying to scratch her fur baby as it hisses and jumps back repeatedly.
“I know what the Triad Group looks like. I have seen them.” I won’t forget the creeps they gave me
either.
“The borders have been opened again. They could come in if they wanted for business, and their brothel hasn’t been tied to the trafficking ring yet.” Raven attempts to pick up her baby from the other side, but the opossum jumps away from her again, trying to bite her.
I’m having a hard time seeing the fun that this animal could offer them. It doesn’t want to be around its predators for obvious reasons. I’m not sure how you could tame that instinct out of it.
Or tame the fear out of it.
Weird, but also relatable.
“We both know that more than likely the Triad Group is tied to Stevens and Stevens is tied to the trafficking ring, so we spy on Kian’s brothers and then we look for the clues,” I say as I wonder if you are supposed to burp a baby opossum.
“No, we don’t even know if or when they would be there, and we, can’t go every day, but maybe you could help me with something by spying,” Raven suggests as she stuffs her baby down her shirt.
“Like what?” I sit upright, eager to hear how we could team up.
“I want to know if my family is aware that I was given the ring or if they were told I died or some crazy made–up story they believed.” Raven sits next to me on the couch, emotionless.
“Isn’t your father the beta for Stevens? Wouln’t he be aware of what happened?” I remind her. Cyrus knows everything Thane does. I would think it would be the same. If Stevens is as ruthless as he seems, he wouldn’t care if her parents knew either.
“I have to know for sure. I do not want to kill them and find out somehow that they thought I was dead.” Raven growls at her fur baby and points a finger at it after it bites her.

So It Just Hands Like that?
Wow. Do you think you could do something like that? Kill a parent? I asked, shocked that the 1 planning on it, depending on the answer she gets, but really shouldn’t be
“Isn’t that what you plan on doing?”
It is, I guess. I haven’t given any of that aspect much thought. How the encounter with my father starts and ends. It feels like it may never happen, and I’m unsure how I feel about it, I want him to be held responsible and I want answers badly and knowing that I may not get them sucks.
“We deserve answers before we kill our parents.” Raven laughs.
“We do. So, what do we do now to get yours? I can’t get permission to go to your dad’s pack when I have nobody there I know to visit, and Thane might actually murder us both if I even think about going in person anyway, because we do not know if Stevens is aware of what I look like.”
I could be hard to disguise with such a distinct look.
“Maybe we do not need to go?” Raven raises a brow, an idea forming.
