On the seventh day of sending him messages,
he finally reached out.
He wanted to hang out.
I said yes.
I put on my cutest outfit, did my makeup, and
く
was about to leave.
Then the comments started again.
Apparently, Bailey and Chase had a massive
fight about the kiss.
He was going to take me to Bailey’s family’s
fish market to make her jealous.
I smiled slowly.
I sprayed some of his favorite perfume on my
wrist before leaving.
When I got downstairs, Chase’s car was
already waiting.
As soon as I opened the door, I could feel the
dark energy rolling off of him.
<
Definitely in a bad mood.
I got in, and he seemed to catch a whiff of
something and turned to me.
“Are you wearing perfume?”
I nodded, leaning in close. “New stuff. Like
it?”
He blushed and leaned back, not answering.
I smiled and pulled out a lunchbox.
“I figured you hadn’t eaten breakfast. I made
you a sandwich.”
He took it, then saw the Band–Aid on my
hand.
“What’s this?”
I quickly hid my hand and smiled sheepishly.
“I accidentally splashed myself with hot oil
while making eggs. I’m so clumsy, right?”
He looked shocked. “You made this
yourself?”
I nodded. “It’s not great, but I tried.”
He looked at the sandwich, then at me, and
his eyes softened. He looked touched, even a
little guilty.
Exactly what I wanted.
I know from the comments that Bailey always
gets Chase gifts.
<
But she always tries to buy something
expensive.
To show him she doesn’t care about money,
and all that crap.
Every time he gives her something, she
makes sure to return the favor with a gift of
equal value.
But guys like Chase don’t care about money.
Sometimes, effort is what gets them.
Of course, I didn’t make the sandwich.
I had the housekeeper do it. I even told her to
make the egg a little messy.
