Turns out, Chase booked the fancy spot. The
food was actually pretty good.
Watching the comments blow up, I savored

every bite.
[Is she doing this on purpose? Eating so
loudly, smacking her lips?]
[Screw it, I’m making myself a steak.]
Chase finished eating first and headed to the
restroom.
He was gone for a minute, so I went to find
him.
That’s when I overheard him talking to his
buddy.
“There’s no way I’d actually be into Summer.
I’m in love with Bailey.”
“Bailey made a deal with me: if I can make
Summer completely obsessed with me, she’ll
apologize and give us another shot.
Otherwise, I wouldn’t even look at Summer.”
“How long are you gonna keep this up?”

“Until my graduation party, I guess. That’s
when I’ll go public with Bailey. She wants to
see Summer’s face when she realizes it was
all a big joke.”
His friend gave him a knowing look. “You
really don’t like Summer?”
“She’s way hotter than Bailey. With those
curves, how are you gonna resist?”
Chase scoffed. “She’s just a pretty face. I
wouldn’t touch her with a ten–foot pole.”
He paused, looking uneasy.
“This afternoon was a mistake. It won’t
happen again. Everything I have is only for
Bailey.”
So, they’re using me as part of their little love
game.
I smirked.
Perfect. Otherwise, I wouldn’t have gotten to
kiss Chase.
The most popular, untouchable guy in school.
Any girl who confessed to him usually ended
up crying.
As for who’s playing who, we’ll see.
The comments exploded when they saw my
smile:
[Why is she smiling? Normal people would be
devastated if they heard their crush say that

who focuses on what she wants and doesn’t

That last comment surprised me.
Because I never went out of my way to mess
