Landon’s kiss was hot and domineering.
Even though Amelia had actually lived her second life, it was indeed her first real kiss. She was completely stunned, forgetting to resist. It wasn’t until she was out of breath that she snapped back to reality. ‘What are we doing?‘
Amelia’s heart surged with unfamiliar emotions, and the blood rushed to her face, turning her ears and neck red and hot.
Amelia hurriedly pushed Landon away, glaring at him in embarrassment and anger yet also feeling a bit surprised. ‘His bodily functions have almost recovered. So should I slap him now?‘
‘Amelia, don’t forget who you are now.‘ Landon raised his hand to wipe his lips, still savoring the moment, thinking, ‘Her taste is so wonderful that it makes me indulge. If she weren’t so foolish as to forget to breathe, I would want to continue!
“You…” Amelia’s face suddenly turned pale as she thought, ‘Landon kissed me not to test his recovery but to punish me?‘ She glared at Landon, tears welling uncontrollably in her eyes. ‘He has gone too far.’
Amelia suddenly raised her hand and slapped Landon across the face.
Landon was taken aback. His eyes narrowed dangerously, and he said, “Amelia, how do you dare hit me?” After his voice filled with anger rang out, Landon was shocked. ‘I can talk? Great. I’m finally able to speak again, no longer a mute.’
In his excitement, Landon forgot he was arguing with Amelia. He began to speak to himself. “Does my voice sound the same as before? It should. Where’s Aaron? Let him come in and hear.”
Amelia felt no joy. She took a deep look at Landon before turning to leave.
Landon paused, calling out, “Amelia, where are you going?” But the only response he got was the loud sound of the door slamming shut.
The room fell silent, and Landon moved his lips but lost the desire to speak. After a long time, he finally regained the ability to talk, but now there was no one to listen.
“Mr. Kingsley, did you call for me?” Aaron knocked on the door.
Landon replied gloomily, “Come in.”
Aaron stood outside the door, thinking, ‘Did I just hear Mr. Kingsley’s voice? Can he talk now?‘
“Are
you going to come in or not?” Landon raised his voice irritably.
This time, Aaron was sure he wasn’t imagining things and pushed the door open to enter the room. Aaron saw Landon leaning against the headboard, holding a phone in his right hand, and Aaron was overjoyed. “Mr. Kingsley, you’ve recovered?”
“Hmm.” Landon nodded. Those days and nights when he could hear everything around him but couldn’t speak were finally over. During that time, he had longed to be able to talk, but now, he didn’t want to say anything.
“Mr. Kingsley, now that you’ve recovered, you should talk more and practice,” Aaron said excitedly.
“Okay,” Landon answered despondently.
Aaron scratched his head, thinking, ‘Why does he still talk less? Maybe Mr. Kingsley doesn’t want to talk to me. At this moment, Mr. Kingsley needs Mrs. Kingsley.’ Aaron looked around and asked, “Where is Mrs. Kingsley?”
“She left,” Landon replied irritably while deftly swiping his finger across the phone screen, hoping to find a message from Amelia. But there was none at all. ‘She’s angry because I kissed her without permission.‘
Landon pressed his lips tightly together, thinking, ‘Yes, I was a bit excessive. But she shouldn’t be getting close to another man behind my back and

“Mr. Kingsley, is this the first time you’ve argued with Mrs. Kingsley?” Aaron carefully asked, looking at the lipstick smudges on Landon’s lips and the faint handprint visible on Landon’s face.
Landon remained silent, thinking, ‘How dare she be mad at me? Wasn’t she the one who made me angry first?‘
“Mr. Kingsley, you…” Aaron pointed at Landon’s lips.
Landon glared at him. “Just say it.”
Aaron silently handed Landon a mirror.
In the mirror, Landon looked handsome and authoritative, his brow furrowed with anger, but there was lipstick smeared around his lips. The messiness
of the lipstick revealed just how intense the earlier kiss had been.
Landon rarely felt awkward in front of anyone. “We’re married.”
“Aren’t you in a partnership?” Aaron questioned.
Landon shot him a glare, and Aaron wisely fell silent.
‘Mr. Kingsley is falling in love. A disaster might bring unexpected fortune, after all. It’s true. After being in a coma for more than three months, Mr. Kingsley’s romantic feelings have awakened. Perhaps, in the near future, he’ll have an heir,‘ Aaron thought and couldn’t hold back his smile.
Aaron and Landon had known each other for many years. Although they were in a superior–subordinate relationship, they understood each other well.
When Landon saw Aaron’s expression, he guessed what Aaron was thinking. Landon, already agitated, felt even more complicated emotions.
Landon recalled the calmness in Amelia’s eyes before she slammed the door without any emotions. He became somewhat uneasy.
“Aaron, call Amelia back,” Landon paused and added. “Just say it’s about business.”
“Okay.” Aaron hurriedly called Amelia.
Amelia answered, but when she heard it was about business, she replied coldly, “Mr. Kingsley is capable of taking care of himself.”
Landon took a deep breath to suppress the quickening of his heartbeat. He thought, ‘Good, she has gained some courage. Has she forgotten that her identity might bring her danger at any moment?
‘Especially since Brooke isn’t with her this time. If Patrick or Jonas…‘ Landon dared not think further and indicated to Aaron with his eyes.
Aaron humbly advised, “Mr. Kingsley hasn’t fully recovered yet.”
“Nothing to do with me.” Amelia finished and hung up.
Aaron had it on speakerphone, so Landon heard Amelia’s words clearly. Landon was panting angrily.
“Mr. Kingsley, should I call her again?” Aaron suggested.
Landon sneered, “No need.”
“She may quit her job.” Aaron tried to persuade Landon.
“Then I can save two million dollars every day.” Landon’s attitude was indifferent as if everything was under control.
But inside, Landon was seething because no one had ever dared to confront him like that. He wanted to see just how strong Amelia’s attitude could be and how long she could hold out.

“Mr. Kingsley…” Aaron wanted to continue to advise.
“From now on, you take care of me,” Landon ordered.
“But Mrs. Kingsley…”
“She can go wherever she wants.”
“Alright.” Aaron felt bitter. ‘Why is it me who suffers when they argue?‘
After leaving the hotel, Amelia wandered alone on the streets.
Pinecrest, being a small town, was far less bustling than Norava, but it had a relaxed feel. Even the wind blowing towards her felt comfortable.
The mood that Landon had disrupted began to ease gradually. She thought, ‘What’s there to be angry about? Isn’t it just that he doesn’t trust me? He isn’t anyone to me. I don’t care about his trust. We are just business partners.
‘Now that he can speak and act freely, I have no reason to stay any longer. During my time with the Kingsley family, I haven’t lost out. I have taken revenge on my father and ex, who bullied me, and I made a fortune.”
Amelia opened an app to check her bank balance, growing more satisfied as she looked. One of her cards had a whole one hundred million dollars, and another had twenty million dollars. She was definitely a wealthy woman now.
“I’ll find a place to vacation,” Amelia decided to treat herself. She immediately booked a resort and took a taxi there. Then she blacklisted everyone related to the Kingsley family, including employees of Kingsley Group, business partners, and Landon.
