His expression darkened. Just then, Amelia returned, humming a cheerful tune and looking particularly pleased with herself. When she noticed Landon glaring at her, she simply shrugged it off and made her way to her new bed.

“Are you angry?” Amelia asked, lounging comfortably on her bed as she looked at Landon. She had changed into her loungewear–a soft pink silk set tha gave her an air of gentle femininity.
But Landon was blind to her sweet appearance. In his eyes, she was nothing but a backstabber who’d thrown him under the bus as soon as she got what she wanted.
Landon felt a surge of inexplicable anger rising within him. The thought of her and Lanny together made his blood boil. He wanted to curse, to throw punches–but neither was an option right now.
“Is it because I asked for a divorce? Did that hurt your pride?” Amelia asked carefully. Realizing that divorce wasn’t possible at the moment, she was willing to be the bigger person and extend an olive branch. They would have to find a way to coexist peacefully.
