Chapter 300
Chapter 300
Time ticked by, and Aiden didn’t dare to leave.
After all, the Montgomery family and the Kyle family were related, so Monroe’s men didn’t dare lay a finger on him.
When Bill came out of the operating room, he even greeted Aiden respectfully. “Mr. Kyle.”
“How is he?” Aiden glanced into the operating room but didn’t see Night Owl.
“Where did she go?‘ Aiden wondered. ‘Was she killed by Monroe after her secret was exposed?‘
“The surgery was a success. He’ll wake up once the anesthesia wears off,” Bill replied.
“Good!” Aiden breathed a sigh of relief. “Go back and thank Uncle Monroe for me.”
Bill blinked in confusion. “Huh?”
“With Landon losing his memory, I finally have a chance to win Amelia over,” Aiden leaned in and whispered, a devilish glint in his eyes.
Bill had heard the rumors about Aiden’s romantic entanglements.
He smiled knowingly and returned to the operating room to wait for Landon to wake up.
As the operating room door closed again, the devilish glint on Aiden’s face faded away, and his heart twisted with anxiety.
‘Where did Night Owl go?‘ Aiden fretted inwardly.
“Who are you worried about?” Kayla walked over and asked.
Aiden lowered his gaze, not sure how to explain.
‘Should I say I’m worried about Night Owl?‘ he thought to himself.
‘Do I even have the right to worry about her?‘ Aiden couldn’t help but wonder.
“Night Owl’s a good one. If you like her, just go for it!” Kayla said with a gentle smile.
She was as warm as ever.
Aiden suddenly felt his nose sting, emotion welling up inside him.
Kayla was the only person in this world who had ever given him warmth and love.
And she understood him better than anyone else.
But he’d hurt her loved ones so much before…

“No one’s beyond redemption. Don’t be scared,” Kayla said, patting his shoulder. “Look at you, you’ve grown so tall–I have to stand on my tiptoes just to reach your shoulder now.”
“Kayla…” Aiden murmured.
“Let me be upfront with you,” Kayla said. “Night Owl was married before, and that man still lives in her heart.”

Aiden felt nothing at all his heart was completely calm.
He wasn’t stupid enough to compete with someone who’s already gone.
The living could never win against the dead.
To Night Owl, Dawson would always be her one true love, the unforgettable mark on her heart. No one could ever take his place.
All Aiden wanted was for her to be happy and healthy.
“Kayla, I don’t have any bad intentions,” Aiden said, trying to explain.
Watching Amelia and Landon struggle through their tough lives made him realize just what a bastard he used to be.
He really hated the person he used to be.
Kayla just patted his shoulder again. “Be brave and go after love! Amelia is a mistake that’s behind you–you need to find what’s truly right for you now.”
Aiden stood there, dazed, his mind clouded with confusion.
For the first time in his life, he felt lost. ‘Is Night Owl really what’s right for me now?‘
Just then, the doors to the operating room swung open again.
Bill came out with his assistants, and Landon was lying on a hospital bed, eyes wide open, looking totally lost.
“Mr. Kyle, it’s time for us to head back,” Bill said.
Aiden snapped out of his thoughts and asked, “When are you going to let Amelia come back?”
“We’ll release the two kids first, and then Amelia,” Bill replied.
Worried that Aiden might get angry, Bill quickly added, “Mr. Montgomery is just afraid you guys won’t let him leave the country, so…”
“I get it. Just don’t hurt her,” Aiden said, waving his hand to let them go.
Bill nodded respectfully again before leading Landon away.
Landon lay on the stretcher as if he was completely numb, but inside, he was bursting with joy.
‘Honey, we’ll see each other soon…‘ Landon thought to himself.
Aiden watched the group walk away, his heart a whirlwind of emotions.
No one in this world could ever love Amelia the way Landon did.
Luckily, all his schemes back then had flopped, and he hadn’t managed to break them up.
Just then, a janitor was pushing a giant trash bin past, and Aiden suddenly caught a familiar scent. He quickly reached out to stop the person.
“Wait!”
“Aiden!” Kayla shot him a warning look.
Aiden grinned and pulled his hand back.

‘Night Owl’s gotta be hiding in that trash bin! Haha, she’s still alivel‘ Aiden thought to himself.

At the foot of the mountain, Amelia was playing a game with Landen. Kimsey was still too young to join in, but he could watch.
He sat there, sucking on his thumb, watching his mother and Landen play, babbling and waving his little arms excitedly.
Just then, Monroe walked in and said, “Amelia, do you want to leave first, or should the kids go first?”
“Did you guys get Landon?” Amelia’s heart skipped a beat, and the forced smile on her face disappeared.
“He really didn’t hold back when it came to saving you,” Monroe said, feeling a bit resentful.
If only he’d shown that kind of devotion to his daughter.
“Let the kids go first,” Amelia said, taking a deep breath.
Her top priority was the kids‘ safety. And besides, if she stayed, maybe she’d get a chance to see Landon one last time.
Even if he didn’t remember her, she still wanted to see him, to hold him in her arms.
‘I just want to hear what his heart has to say…‘ Amelia thought to herself.
“Alright,” Monroe replied.
He quickly had someone take the kids away. “Landen, I kept my promise and didn’t hurt you guys, right? Look after your little brother, okay?”
Okay, thank you, Great–Uncle,” Landen said sweetly, wrapping his little arms tightly around Kimsey.
Monroe smiled and ruffled his hair. “You’re such a good kid! And so adorable!”
“Bye, Great–Uncle!” Landen called out.
Landen struggled to lift Kimsey into the car, and then the driver floored the gas pedal, speeding off in a cloud of dust.
Amelia stood by the sealed window, watching as the car disappeared in a swirl of dust, her heart heavy with worry and hope.
‘The kids are safe now… Landon, are you alright?‘ Amelia thought anxiously.
A car pulled up not long after.
On the outside, it looked completely ordinary, but inside, it was fully equipped like a top–tier ambulance.
Monroe turned to Amelia and said, “Get in! I’m giving you a chance to see him again.”
“Landon…” Amelia called out, her voice full of longing.
She scrambled into the car, barely able to wait. Landon was lying there on a hospital bed, his head wrapped in bandages.
There were faint traces of blood soaking through the bandages.
It was clear proof he’d just had minimally invasive brain surgery.
“Landon…” Amelia’s tears streamed down her face, falling one after another as she choked up, unable to control her sobs.

Landon slowly turned his head to look at her, his eyes and lace utterly blank, showing not a single ripple of emotion:
Monroe was very satisfied—the surgery was a success, and Landon had amnesia once again.
“Landon…” Amelia covered her mouth, reminding herself not to cry.
He ended up like this all because of her.
But she just couldn’t help it.
‘Landon, what are we going to do now?‘ Amelia thought, her heart shattering.
“Don’t cry.”
A familiar voice suddenly rang out.
