This was so scary.
‘Could Monica’s ability really be something out of an anime, like teleportation or warping space?‘ she wondered.
‘Otherwise, how else could he just suddenly show up in Norava?‘ Amelia’s mind raced.
Her heart was pounding in her chest, and she had no idea how to deal with this.
After a moment, Amelia barely managed to force out, “What do you want?”
“I want to kill you,” Monroe said coldly, “So that Landon will be utterly loyal to my daughter.”
Amelia closed her eyes, her anger crashing inside her like a storm.
She could only resent how useless her own ability was–nothing more than being able to hear Landon’s voice, and nothing else.
If only she had a stronger power, she could wipe Monroe out on the spot.
“Great Uncle….” Suddenly, a weak, childish voice was heard.
Hearing that, Amelia’s heart jolted hard with regret.
She had just promised Kayla she’d look after Landen, and now she had let him get dragged into this mess too.
“I’m scared…” Landen said softly, coming closer and gently touching Monroe’s elbow with his tiny hand.
Monroe turned to look at Landen.
He had to admit; this kid looked exactly like Jonny when he was little.
Especially that pitiful look in his eyes–it instantly softened something deep inside him.
For a split second, Monroe almost saw Jonny again, tumbling off that cliff to save Monica.
“I…” Landen said softly, his little voice trembling as if he wanted to say more but didn’t dare.
Monroe reached out and patted his head, her tone gentle. “Good boy, I will take you to a really fun place.”
“Is it really just a fun place?” Landen’s eyes brimmed with tears. “I heard everything you just said.”
Amelia nearly jumped in fright.
This was the perfect time for Landen to play dumb.
If he acted like he didn’t know Monroe’s true intentions, maybe Monroe would let him go.
Kayla had already suffered so much in her life. If she lost Landen, Amelia knew she’d never be able to live with herself, even if she somehow managed to survive.
“Great Uncle, kimsey is so little and so pitiful. Please don’t hurt him, okay?” Landen’s voice wavered as he started to choke up.
That trembling, tearful child’s plea could break anyone’s heart.

Chapter 345
Amelia felt her heart clench into a tight kisot.
She opened her mouth, wanting to say anything that might make Monroe let them go, but no words would come.
“Landen, I would never hurt a kid like you. Don’t worry,” Monroe said with a gentle smile, trying to reassure him.
Judging by everything so far, Monroe was very patient with Landen.
Amelia felt a little more at ease.
“Thank you, I knew you were a good person,” Landen said happily, wrapping his arms around Monroe’s neck and planting two big kisses on
his cheek.
Kimsey, still in Monica’s arms, giggled too.
The tense atmosphere in the spacious car seemed to ease a little with the sound of the two kids‘ laughter.
Amelia gently bit her lower lip, feeling like she was about to cry.
Monica wouldn’t hurt the kids, and he hadn’t hurt her either. He was fishing–setting bait and waiting for his catch.
He was trying to hook Landon–the biggest fish of all.
After what felt like forever, the car finally stopped at the foot of a desolate mountain.
Mountains surrounded them on three sides, with water on the fourth. The place was completely deserted, yet there was a three–story building standing there.
The outer walls were just bare red brick, so plain that it didn’t even look like anyone had bothered to paint it. Even if one flew over in a plane, they’d probably think it was just some abandoned house.
Amelia guessed this was probably one of the Mystic Sect’s hideouts.
“We’re here. Time to get out,” Monroe said.
Hegot out of the car, carrying Kimsey in one arm and holding Landen’s hand with the other.
Amelia was still too weak from the drugs, so two bodyguards had to support her as she got out.
Once they stepped inside, it felt like they’d gone from a barren wasteland straight into paradise.
It was unbelievably lavish.
Bright marble floors, polished redwood furniture… The whole place was bathed in light.
Every single detail here was even more extravagant than anything in the Kingsley family’s mansion.
This was definitely no ordinary hideout.
Amelia managed to look around as best she could before being tossed into a windowless room.
“Amelia, Amelia…” Landen’s little voice trembled as he called out for her.
“Don’t worry, Mrs. Kingsley. Until the big fish takes the bait, you and the children won’t be in any danger,” Monroe said, leaving those words hanging in the air as he shut the door behind him.

Chapter 295
Amelia lay on the icy floor and closed his eyes.
When the hell will this damn drug wear off?‘ she cursed inwardly. “I have to get my strength back and get out of here!
The private jet soared through the blue sky, but Landon and his team all wore grim expressions.
The one in prison was a fake Monroe.
He didn’t have any powers, and ever since his arrest, he’d been disturbingly obedient.
He didn’t fight, didn’t resist–he was just like a mindless puppet.
“Landon, don’t worry. Amy will be okay,” Kayla said, forcing a calm tone even though she was just as anxious inside.
They had pushed Monroe to the edge, and he got nowhere left to run.
He’d pulled off a masterful deception to slip away, and now he was definitely holding back some major move.
His best chance to turn the tables was to head to Norava and take their families hostage.
So, the moment they sensed something was wrong, they’d been calling Amelia over and over.
But her phone just wouldn’t go through.
The servants at home said they’d gone out shopping.
At least the bodyguards‘ phones were ringing, but no one picked up.
All of this was a seriously bad omen…
Landon stared at his phone, his eyes fixed on Amelia’s last message.
It was a message she’d sent not long ago–a photo of him hugging Night Owl, plus some snarky remarks.
She was really jealous.
Normally, Landon would’ve been secretly pleased, then patiently explained things to her and coaxed her until she was happy again.
But now, all he felt was fear.
Is she in trouble? Or is she just giving me the silent treatment because she’s jealous?‘ Landon wondered anxiously.
Kayla glanced at her brother and his phone but kept quiet. She knew this wasn’t about jealousy–Amelia was really in trouble. But with them stuck on a plane, there was nothing they could do. If she told him the truth now, it would only make things worse for him.
Better to wait until they were back in Norava to figure things out.
She just hoped Amelia stay safe.
“Landon, I’ll help you,” Night Owl finally spoke, her voice breaking the tense silence. She lifted her gaze, and the sunlight streaming through
the cabin windows made her cold, ethereal features seem almost translucent.
She looked every bit the wild, untamed hero, yet there was a fragile beauty about her that made people want to protect her.

Charter 205
Alden looked at her unusually pale face and frowned. “Maybe you should focus orl taking care of yourself first. Don’t go keeling over before we even get there.”
“Do you even know how to talk?” Night Owl shot him a cold, icy glare.
Aiden wisely decided to keep his mouth shut.
“Aiden, you never told us there could be two people like Monroe,” Kayla said, frowning at him.
“I had no idea either,” Aiden replied, scratching his head in frustration. “It’s just so weird–how can there be two people who look exactly the same? Even if we could be fooled, there’s no way Monica would be, right?”
When Monroe came to pick her up, Monica didn’t show the slightest hint that anything was off.
Knowing how arrogant Monica is, she would never have acted like that unless it was really her father.
“Does Monroe have any relatives?” Tuff wondered aloud, suspecting that maybe a lookalike relative was impersonating him, while Monica was deliberately acting normal to throw them off.
“He’s an orphan–no relatives at all,” Aiden said. “After my aunt met him, my dad even had the Kington Gang run a full background check on him. Their investigations are never wrong.”
Night Owl asked, “So, is it possible he’s a clone?”
Everyone gasped in shock.
That was way too far–fetched.
I don’t think so,” Landon said, his face tight. “If he really was a clone, then that guy should have powers too.”
“Then… twins?” Night Owl suggested.
Everyone looked at each other, stunned.
All these years, Monroe had claimed to be an orphan. He’d hidden his twin brother so well that even the Kington Gang had no idea. Everyone wondered what on earth he was planning.
