Aiden was about to explode with rage. He thought, ‘For the next ten years, I’ll be under Daniel’s thumb? Utter humiliation! I’m the vice leader of the Kington Gang!‘
“You don’t have to agree, but I can guarantee that no one in the world can cure you,” Daniel said, finally feeling vindicated.
After being suppressed by Aiden for so long, Daniel finally struck back.
“Daniel, do you know what happens when you cross the Kington Gang?” Aiden’s eyes grew cold and dangerous.
“The Flying Tiger Sect can go toe–to–toe with you,” Daniel replied slowly.
Aiden was fuming all over again, storming around the cramped room.
“Easy with your steps–don’t go kicking up dust everywhere. This carpet’s been here for over a decade,” Daniel said.
If Daniel hadn’t mentioned it, Aiden might’ve been fine, but the moment he did, that itch from the poison flared up all over again.
He glared at Daniel, frustration boiling over. “Don’t forget about Landon…”
“He’s getting engaged, I know,” Daniel cut him off. “He lost his memory and now he’s got another woman.”
“You know all that?” Aiden was surprised.
Daniel nodded. “Mr. Kyle, next you’re going to threaten me with Kayla, aren’t you?”
Aiden was speechless. His scheme was totally exposed.
“Landen is the Kyle family’s own blood, isn’t he?” Daniel chuckled. “So you’d better think twice before you make your next move!”
Aiden was so mad he could grind his teeth to dust.
He would never use Paloma as a bargaining chip unless he had no other choice–she was his sister–in–law, and more than that, his sister.
She was the only warmth in his life, the one person who cared for him when his parents never did.
“Alright, you can go now. They’re at the Grand Vista Hotel,” Daniel said, waving for the bodyguards to let go and opening the door.
Aiden’s chest was heaving with rage. He shot Daniel a long, furious glare before storming out in a huff.
As soon as he stepped outside, he wanted nothing more than to storm back in and wring Daniel’s neck.
Just two blocks away, the city center was buzzing, luxury hotels lined the streets one after another.
Under the night sky, those lavish lights screamed wealth and extravagance.
The Grand Vista Hotel, where Paloma was staying, was right there. But Daniel, just to mess with him, had stuck him in this crummy old guesthouse that
time had forgotten.
Aiden patted himself down–no phone, no cash.
That meant he’d have to hoof it all the way to the Grand Vista Hotel.
“One day, I’ll have you all on your knees begging for mercy!” Aiden grumbled, cursing under his breath as he stalked through the city streets.
After walking for a full thirty minutes, he finally arrived at the Grand Vista Hotel.

Paloma had already gotten word that he was back, and was waiting in the hotel lobby with the butler and a few others
“Aiden, you’re finally back.” Paloma called out.
She pulled him into a gentle húg..
Aiden quickly stepped back. “I’m all dirty, don’t hug me…”
“Aiden?” Paloma called out, concern in her voice.
“That jerk Daniel made me stay in some filthy dump,” Aiden grumbled,
Paloma’s face fell, and she shot a worried look at the butler.
The butler looked startled too. “Mr. Kyle, did you catch something?” he asked.
There were still a few guests coming and going in the lobby, and when they heard that, everyone turned to stare and quickly backed away
“Shut up! Can’t expect anything smart out of your mouth!” Aiden snapped, giving the butler a couple of kicks. “I meant the place was a health hazard, not that I caught anything.”
“Yes, yes, of course…” The butler quickly lowered his head and hurried to lead Aiden to the hotel’s most luxurious presidemial suite.
The suite was spacious, bright, and spotless–everything looked like it was fresh out of the box.
‘Now this is what I call a hotel,‘ Aiden thought with satisfaction.
He finally let out a deep breath and made a beeline for the bathroom.
He scrubbed himself raw and soaked in the tub for a whole hour before finally stepping out.
He didn’t even hesitate to toss all his old clothes straight into the trash and put on a brand new set.
After cleaning up and changing, he finally felt human again–like all the grime was gone.
“Mr. Kyle, please enjoy your meal,” the butler said, having thoughtfully prepared a lavish late–night feast.
Aiden was famished–he devoured the food like a starving wolf, completely forgetting about manners.
Paloma looked at Aiden with gentle concern. “Aiden, what’s your situation now?”
“I’ve been poisoned. It’ll take ten years to cure it. The antidote’s in Daniel’s hands–I have to go to him every three months for a pill,” Aiden said, his frustration boiling over.
Just thinking about it made Aiden even more frustrated. He snapped at the butler, “Why aren’t you out there finding someone to cure me? Are you really just going to stand by and watch me be under Daniel’s thumb for ten whole years?”
“Mr. Kyle, we’ve tried everything. The poison is incredibly strange–it’s made up of all kinds of toxins, and no one can do anything about it,” the butler replied, his face full of misery.
God knows how busy he had been these past two days–his phone practically melted from all the calls.
He had to admit, Jonas really was something else. He just couldn’t find anyone who could cure Aiden.
“Isn’t there a miracle doctor in Nusmin named Morgan Mitchell? Why not try him?” Paloma suggested.
Aiden’s face darkened and he quickly cut her off. “No! We’re not going to him.”
“Aiden?” Paloma propped her chin in her hand, clearly confused.

“Seriously, Paloma, I’m not dying anytime soon. You really don’t have to worry,” Aiden reassured her.
As far as he knew, Morgan was tight with Landon.
‘No way am I letting that guy anywhere near Paloma,’ he swore Inwardly.
“Are you feeling uncomfortable?” Paloma asked, her voice full of concern.
Aiden shook his head. “I’m fine right now.”
“Alright, whatever you say,” Paloma replied, her expression full of doting affection.
Aiden couldn’t meet her gentle, motherly smile and lowered his eyes.
“You’ve been through a lot these past two days. Eat up and then get some rest,” Paloma said.
Aiden had already slept plenty over the past couple of days. “Paloma, where’s Amelia?” he asked.
“She’s at the Zuckerberg family’s place,” Paloma replied.
“Did she… say anything to you?” Aiden asked, his tone cautious.
“There’s nothing to say between enemies,” Paloma replied with a light laugh.
Paloma let out a soft, knowing smile. Every gesture radiated a noble grace, like a fairy untouched by the mortal world.
Ever since she lost her memory, she just stopped caring about anything outside her own little world.
She barely even bothered with her own son,
Landen.
She kept to herself, lying flat and enjoying a life of effortless luxury–the only thing she cared about anymore was painting.
Aiden looked at her, his heart a whirlwind of emotions.
Someone like her, almost otherworldly, shouldn’t be bothered by the troubles of the mortal world.
Anyway, Landon wasn’t coming back. No one could ever take his sister away from him again.
“Paloma, why don’t we go back to Nusmin tomorrow?” Aiden suggested.
For once, Paloma actually said no. “No.”
“Paloma?” Aiden blinked in surprise.
“You still have poison in your system,” Paloma said.
“It’s really not that urgent…” Aiden tried to reassure her.
“It is to me,” Paloma cut him off. “Ever since you were poisoned, I haven’t been able to eat or sleep.”
Aiden felt a warm, comforting glow in his heart.
“Since we’re already here, let’s stay a few more days. Maybe we’ll figure something else out. I’ve already s
Aiden thought for a moment, then agreed. “Okay.”
He took his time enjoying the midnight feast, tossing a few words to Paloma every so often.
Most of the time, it was him doing all the talking while Paloma just quietly listened.

He only stopped his endless chatter when Paloma started getting sleepy and said she was heading back to her room.

After walking Paloma back to her room, the butler hurried over to report. “Mr. Kyle, they all know about her true identity, but they’ve been keeping quiet this whole time. Could they be plotting something major?”
“With Landon out of the picture, Amelia can’t make any waves,” Aiden said with a cold smirk.
His own sister becoming the daughter of the enemy family–no one could ever accept that.
Amelia would never dare to provoke Paloma.
“Should we go ahead and capture Ms. Edwards again?” the butler asked.
“No,” Aiden said flatly.
He fell silent, lost in thought as he scrolled through his phone.
When he saw the news about Landon getting engaged to Monica, a plan started to form in his mind.
