Chapter 204
It wasn’t easy to avoid everyone and the security cameras in the estate, gather the datura flowers, extract their toxins, and combine them with the venom Amelia carried to create a new poison.
And they only had three days to do it.
To avoid suspicion, Amelia would invite Paloma at different times each day to admire the datura flowers together.
The flamboyant Jonas had already become a close confidant to both women.
While admiring the flowers together, they secretly gathered petals and seeds.
Then they would take them back and quietly extract the toxins.
When Daniel got the news that they were actually planning to poison Aiden, he was completely stunned.
“Amelia is incredible!” Edith exclaimed, her eyes full of admiration. “I never thought she’d stay there with such a bold plan in mind.”
Daniel was just as surprised.
His seemingly fragile little sister had such explosive determination. She was really giving him a huge boost.
“Daniel, did you manage to find the location of the Kington Gang with Aunt Joanna?” Edith asked.
Daniel took a deep breath and nodded seriously. “I found it. I’m leaving tomorrow.”
“Where?”
“Dreicean.”
After all that searching, it turned out the headquarters of the Kington Gang was right under their noses at the Kyle Estate.
If Joanna hadn’t been on the run the whole time, Daniel would’ve never figured it out.
But whether Aiden was actually the boss of the Kington Gang was still anyone’s guess.
“I want to go too!” Edith said excitedly.
Daniel frowned. “No way!”
“Why not?” Edith protested.
“If you stay home and keep yourself safe, I can go fight without worrying about you,” Daniel said after thinking for a moment, then leaned down and kissed her forehead.
Edith was frozen in place, completely petrified.
‘Did he… did he just kiss me?‘ she thought, utterly shocked.
“Edith, wait for me at home!” Daniel said softly but firmly.
He gave her one last, lingering look full of affection before turning to leave.
Edith just stood there, dazed, her mind blank for a long time.
Chapter 204
Soon enough, September 6th rolled around–Aiden’s birthday.
Jonas finally managed to put together the new poison. “Mrs. Kingsley, this stuff is totally colorless and odorless. Just a single drop will make someone collapse.”
Amelia asked, “How long does it take for them to die?”
“To give us a chance to capture Aiden, I’ve set a specific day,” Jonas said. “When the time comes, we’ll take him straight to Lunova.”
Lúnova was where all the big shots gathered–it was the Zuckerberg family’s turf, and even more so, the territory of the Flying Tiger Sect.
They wouldn’t have to worry about the Kington Gang there.
“Okay.”
Amelia let out a long sigh of relief. “Jonas, I really couldn’t have done this without your help.”
“Of course. Just do me a favor–if you get the chance, put in a good word for me with my mentor, so I can return to the sect,” Jonas said with a smile.
“I promise,” Amelia replied solemnly.
With time running out and so much going on, she didn’t have the chance to ask who Jonas’s mentor actually was.
So when she finally met Jonas’s mentor much later, she was completely taken aback…
“Ms. Edwards, the banquet hall is ready. Mr. Kyle is waiting for you,” a servant said.
“Okay.”
She took off her pendant and, with a simple twist, transformed it into a ring.
Hidden inside was the new poison Jonas had made.
‘This is it. Success or failure, it all comes down to this. Heaven, please watch over me,‘ she thought, silently praying.
Before heading to the banquet hall, Amelia used the secret SIM card Jonas had slipped her to text Daniel: [Daniel, I’m making my move now. Should be done in two hours.]
Daniel replied almost instantly: [Okay.]
Amelia smiled.
Even though it was just her and Jonas in this huge estate, every time she got a message from her brother, it was like she had a whole army at her back, and nothing could scare her now.
‘Landon, as soon as I get out of here, I’m coming to find you,’ Amelia thought, her determination unwavering.
‘You only have two choices: either wait for me to find you, or come pick me up at Lunova Airport!‘ she added to herself, a playful challenge in her heart.
Aiden rarely held birthday parties, but this time he’d invited quite a crowd.
Sandra was there too.
When Amelia saw her, she felt like she couldn’t breathe for a second.
“Well, look who decided to show up–my little sister?” Sandra sauntered over, swaying her hips as she greeted Amelia. “I mean, I’m only six months older than you, but suddenly having to call you my little sister still feels pretty weird to me.”
Amelia‘ expression turned icy. “We’re not related by blood. We’re not sisters.”
Chapter 204
“Come on, we grew up together!” Sandra said, looking Amelia up and down.
Three months pregnant, Amelia’s belly was already starting to show, the signs of pregnancy growing more obvious by the day.
Jealousy burned in Sandra‘ eyes..
‘Why does Amelia get to have everything, when I’ve lost it all–even the ability to have children?‘ Sandra thought bitterly.
“I never thought you’d have such nerves of steel. Even after Landon died, you’re still managing to live so well with the Kyle family, Sandra said with a mocking laugh. “Let me guess–what are you holding back for? What’s got you playing the long game?”
Amelia narrowed her eyes warily, instantly on alert.
She had rehearsed today’s plan in her mind countless times.
But Sandra’s appearance was the one thing she hadn’t planned for.
She only had one shot at this–if she failed, Jonas was as good as dead.
There was no way she could let Sandra, this ticking time bomb, stay here and blow everything up.
Without another word, Amelia turned and walked away.
“Ms. Edwards, wait!” Aiden called out after her, his tone urgent.
“If she’s here, then I’m out!” Amelia shot back, practically fuming. “Aiden, you know all the bad terms between us, and you still invited her? Are you trying to drive me crazy?”
“No, no, I swear–I didn’t invite her! She just showed up on her own,” Aiden explained quickly.
“Fine, you all enjoy your celebration then!” Amelia snapped, making to leave again.
But Aiden lost his temper and turned on Sandra, shouting, “You! Get out. Now!”
“Mr. Kyle, I-” Sandra stammered.
“Get lost!” Aiden barked.
Aiden might have been handsome, but when he got angry, he was downright terrifying.
Sandra gulped nervously, grabbed her bag, and walked out.
Right before leaving, she shot one last warning over her shoulder. “Mr. Kyle, Amelia is definitely not someone you can control. You’d better be careful with her!”
Amelia scoffed and shook off Aiden’s hand. “Did you hear that? I’m dangerous to you.”
“Haha, even if you tried, you couldn’t do it,” Aiden laughed. But after spending years in the underworld, Sandra’s words still made him quietly cautious.
Indeed, even though Amelia had been distant with him lately, she had kept to herself and behaved impeccably.
She hadn’t even shown the slightest hint of sadness.
Even if she didn’t believe Landon was really dead, shouldn’t she at least be worried or anxious about him?
This was unusual–definitely out of character.
“Don’t ask me to cut the fruit later, or who knows–I might just slice you instead,” Amelia said, her tone half–joking, half–threatening.
Chapter 204
Aiden just laughed it off. “With those weak arms of yours? Even if I handed you a machete, you couldn’t hurt me.”
Amelia was utterly speechless.
She shot him an annoyed glare, then walked over to the banquet table and deliberately took a seat right next to Paloma.
The seat beside Aiden had been saved for her for quite some time.
Paloma chuckled. “Amelia, your seat’s over there.”
“No. If I sit too close, I might just ruin Mr. Kyle’s birthday,” Amelia said in a huff.
Aiden immediately softened, trying to calm her down. “Come on, sit over here. Just pretend it was my fault earlier… With all these guests watching, don’t embarrass me, okay?”
“Mr. Kyle, you’d better watch yourself,” Amelia kept up her sulking act.
The more upset she seemed, the more Aiden shrank back.
Jonas, standing behind Amelia with his usual flamboyant style, could barely hold back his laughter.
‘Controlling people is just this easy! Gotta remember this move!‘ he thought, thoroughly amused by the scene.
“Please… let me make it up to you, okay?” Aiden said, personally handing Amelia an apple and a fruit knife. “You promised you’d give me that peace apple, remember?”
Paloma grinned and teased, “Aiden, your flirting skills are seriously lacking!”
“I just don’t have much experience when it comes to romance,” Aiden said, gazing at Amelia with obvious affection. “If you don’t come over here, I might just have to kiss you in front of everyone.”
“Don’t you dare!” Amelia snapped, her face flushed with anger.
She was fuming inside, but with no other choice, she grudgingly sat down next to Aiden and started peeling the apple.
Her ring slid across the apple’s skin as she worked.
