“Amelial”
Edith and Daniel objected at the same time.
“We need to work together on this. I’ll go to the Kyle family and see how Paloma ended up there with amnesia. You two should return home and help at Project Azureveil headquarters,” Amelia said, her voice steady and calm.
Amelia analyzed the situation rationally.
From the way things looked right now, Aiden was only after her.
That made things a whole lot simpler.
She would protect herself first, even if it meant cooperating with Aiden for the time being.
Once Landon came back, she would make Aiden pay double. He wouldn’t know what hit him,
“If we don’t do this, none of us will make it back,” Amelia said firmly.
“I brought some people with me… but I still can’t relax,” Daniel said, worry etched on his face.
Amelia sighed. “Daniel, no matter how strong an outsider is, it’s hard to fight someone with home advantage. This is Aiden’s territory.”
Daniel fell silent, his heart aching.
He couldn’t understand how Amelia could stay so calm in this situation.
She must have faced a lot of despair on her own before.
“Daniel, I’ll be waiting for you and Landon to come get me. If you manage to reach him, let him know I’m okay. I can handle myself,” Amelia said.
Worried Daniel might not believe her, Amelia showed them the bracelet. “Look, this is a hidden weapon Landon had custom–made for me.”
“Wow, that’s so clever!” Edith gasped, her eyes sparkling with envy. “I’m so jealous!”
She really wanted a hidden weapon like that too.
“Amelia, you’re right about everything. But I…” Daniel said, his voice trailing off.
“I still worry about you,” he admitted.
Amelia arched an eyebrow and gave a soft, reassuring laugh. “I know.”
“Amelia…”
“Daniel, walking right into the tiger’s den is the best way. When you come for me, you can take Kayla home too,” Amelia said.
Daniel pulled her into a hug, finally relenting. “Okay…”
After getting herself together, Amelia unblocked/Aiden from her blacklist.
“Mrs. Kingsley–oh, wait! Miss Edwards, you finally called me,” Aiden answered, his voice between them, like they were still the best of friends.
“Where’s Kayla?” Amelia asked.

“Then I’ll come pick you up?” Aiden offered.
“Okay!” Amelia agreed.
Aiden’s smile stretched from ear to ear.
No matter how stubborn a woman was, once she met him, she’d become soft and gentle in his hands.
“Daniel and Edith are heading back home,” Amelia said.
“Great, how about we give them a ride to the airport?” Aiden suggested.
He actually phrased it as a question–one could still sense a measure of respect in his tone.
Edith felt a little more at ease and whispered to Daniel, “He might be a bit controlling, but deep down, he’s probably not a bad person…
Daniel stayed quiet.
Men like Aiden were the scariest when they went dark.
Suddenly, a lightbulb went off in Daniel’s mind–he thought of Jonas.
He was just as obsessive as Aiden.
‘If I could get Jonas to infiltrate the Kyle family…‘ Daniel mused.
“Edith, can you get Jonas to come over?” Daniel asked.
“Uncle Jonas? I’ll try to reach out to him once we’re back in the capital,” Edith replied.
“Okay.” Daniel nodded.
Jonas had a special kind of respect for Landon. If he was willing to help, that would be ideal.
And if he wasn’t, Daniel had plenty of ways to make him say yes.
Before long, Aiden showed up in person. “Miss Edwards, I’m here to pick you up.”
“You should just call me Mrs. Kingsley,” Amelia said with a frown. “I’m not a ‘miss‘ anymore. I’m married.”
“But you’re a widow now,” Aiden pointed out.
“That still makes me Mrs. Kingsley!” Amelia retorted/
Amelia shot Aiden a fierce glare, standing firmly at the doorway, refusing to take a single step further.

She might despise Aiden, but right now, she had to make the most of his feelings for her. If he wanted to be wrapped around her finger, so be it.
They stared each other down for a moment before Aiden finally backed down. “Alright, Mrs. Kingsley.”
“Let’s go!” Daniel said, dragging his suitcase without even looking at Aiden.
Aiden didn’t get angry at all–he just had his driver take them to the airport in his luxury business car.
Everyone kept quiet the whole ride.
It wasn’t until Daniel and Edith were about to board their flight.
“Mr. Zuckerberg, let’s not cross paths for a while,” Aiden said, and there was a deeper meaning behind his words.
Everyone got the message.
Daniel’s eyes were practically on fire.
Edith pinched his hand, and he managed to hold back.
He looked at Amelia, the one he’d worked so hard to find. “Amelia, take care of yourself.”
“Of course!” Amelia said, raising an eyebrow, deliberately putting on a show of being at ease.
The boarding announcement started playing over the speakers.
Every part of Daniel screamed not to leave Amelia here, alone to deal with Aiden, that obsessive madman.
“Daniel, we need to board now,” Edith said, grabbing his arm and pulling him toward the gate.
The airport was bustling with people, and soon their figures were swallowed up by the crowd.
Aiden smiled softly. “Mrs. Kingsley, let’s go!”
“Mm,” Amelia replied.
Amelia looked away and followed Aiden to the Kyle family manor.
From this moment on, she wouldn’t be able to leave anytime soon.
‘Landon, when are you coming to take me home?‘ Amelia wondered to herself.
‘No matter where you are, don’t forget. I and our baby are waiting for you to bring us home!‘ she thought, her heart full of longing.
The Kyle family’s vast, park–like estate left Amelia absolutely stunned.
‘How rich and powerful must someone be to afford a house like this?‘ she couldn’t help but marvel.
Aiden had the driver slow down, taking his time to show Amelia every corner of the manor–he was clearly flaunting it, proud as could be.
“So, what do you think? The place’s pretty impressive, right?” he said with a hint of pride.
“Mm,” Amelia replied.
“From now on, you’ll stay here, live comfortably, and have a safe pregnancy. I promise you and your baby will have a good life,” Aiden said, sneaking a glance at her belly, a flicker of regret in his eyes.
That’s Landon’s child,‘ he thought bitterly, the taste of jealousy lingering in his mouth.
If it weren’t for the fact that her health was so fragile–and losing this baby might mean she’d never be a mother again–Aiden would never have let her keep it. Honestly, if he had his way, that child wouldn’t even exist.
“Where’s Kayla?” Amelia asked.
Aiden pointed toward a standalone pastel blue villa up ahead. “She’s over there. But she has amnesia–she doesn’t remember anything from before
“Alright, I won’t upset her,” Amelia replied, playing along. “But I’m really curious–how did she end up at your family’s home?”
“That’s a long story. We can talk about it later,” Aiden said.
Aiden was clearly playing coy on purpose.
‘Ugh, he’s so infuriating!‘ Amelia fumed inwardly.
“My sister was really happy to hear you were coming. Landen’s excited too,” Aiden said.
Amelia stared out the window in silence.
Fields of tulips stretched out like a painting, and farther off, the roses were bright red and their scent filled the air.
‘Has Paloma really been cooped up in this manor all these years?‘ Amelia wondered.
She couldn’t even begin to imagine what that kind of life must be like.
“I get what you’re trying to do, but let’s take things slow. My sister can’t handle too much right now–her nerves are even more delicate than the baby you’re carrying,” Aiden said.
“She got hurt?” Amelia asked in shock.
“Yeah, it’s an old wound that just never healed,” Aiden replied.
“When did she get hurt?” Amelia pressed, frowning.
“She had Landen before,” Aiden said. “Oh, I forgot to tell you. Landen was actually born prematurely.”
“What?” Amelia blurted out, totally stunned.
“He was born at seven months. We all thought Landen wouldn’t make it. But that kid’s a real fighter–not only did he survive, he even managed to wake up his mom from a coma,” Aiden said, a hint of pride in his voice.
Amelia was shocked, silently noting the key details in her mind.
‘Coma, born at seven months, amnesia, old wounds that never healed… Just what kind of hell has Kayla been through?‘ she wondered, her heart twisting with worry.
