Chapter 152
In June, as summer heat rose, the reorganized Edwards Group was back in action. With its busy activities, Amelia, the legal representative and dirodo, was always active, handling many official matters and had little time for herself.
Landon was just as overwhelmed with work. As a result, the couple had much less time for intimate moments together, and their focus on matters in Lunova naturally diminished as well.
On that day, an unexpected visitor arrived at the Edwards Group. “Amelia Edwards, we need to talk,” she said. It was Maisie.
Amelia tensed warily, her back becoming rigid. “Please have a seat, Ms. Zuckerberg. What brings
Maisie shook her head, her expression filled with sadness. “It’s about my brother.”
here?”
A sudden feeling of dread surged in Amelia’s chest. ‘Could something have happened to Daniel?‘ she wondered anxiously.
“Amelia, you should consider stopping that infertility treatment. If you’re unable to conceive, it’s okay to let it go. Continuing down this path could end up harming my brother’s life,” Maisie continued.
“What are you talking about?” Amelia asked, her voice filled with a mix of shock and anxiety.
Maisie exclaimed, “My brother is marrying someone he doesn’t even like, let alone find attractive, just to get you that medicine!” She slammed the
photos of Daniel and Edith onto the desk. “Look at these–do they look like a match to you?”
Daniel was strikingly handsome, like he’d stepped out of a fairy tale. The woman beside him, though, was a sharp contrast. Her looks were plain, her fashion a disaster. Next to Daniel, she looked completely out of place–like a clown beside a prince.
“Her name is Edith, the daughter of the Meyers family.” Maisie said pointedly, “She has loved Daniel for years. And now, to secure that medicine for you,
Daniel has chosen to marry her. Amelia, how can you live with yourself?”
Stunned and heartbroken, Amelia’s eyes filled with tears. “I… I had no idea. No one ever told me…”
“Who would tell you? You are Daniel’s entire world at the moment–how could he stand to see you upset?” Maisie shot Amelia a venomous glare. “Let’s be clear, Amelia, I can’t stand you. But for Daniel’s sake, stop the treatment already! Don’t you dare jeopardize his happiness with your selfishness.”
“I need to call him!” Amelia exclaimed, quickly picking up her phone to dial Daniel. Howev you have dialed is currently unavailable.”
a recorded voice interrupted, saying, “Sorry, the number
“My brother changed his number,” Maisie explained. “He only activates the old one when he needs it, then turns it off again–so that you won’t worry.”
Amelia urgently requested, “Please give me his new number!”
Maisie shook her head firmly. “No way. If Daniel finds out I came to see you, he’ll be furious,” she added.
Amelia bit her lower lip hard, thinking, ‘So my medicine would ruin Daniel’s life! I won’t take it any longer!‘
Turning to Maisie, Amelia said firmly, “I no longer want to take the medicine.”
“Then go to Lunova and tell him yourself!” Maisie said.
Without hesitation, Amelia responded, “I will.”
“Amelia, since you truly care about my brother, I’ve changed my feelings toward you. However, we must keep this visit
requested.
“I promise.” After escorting Maisie out, Amelia promptly booked a flight to Lunova.
“Ma’am, aren’t you going to inform Mr. Kingsley about this?” Brooke asked, his voice laced with disapproval.

of course will,” Amella replied, taking a deep breath. “I promised him we would face everything together. If I just vanished without word. Worried sick.
Brooke wore a satisfied smile at Amelia’s response.
Flight booked, Amelia rushed straight to the Kingsley Group. “Honey, I need to go to Lunova.”
“What?” Landon looked up from behind his desk, surprise flickering in his eyes. ‘Is she going to reunite with her family?‘ he wondered,
“Honey, I’m choosing to stop the treatment. I can’t allow Daniel to sacrifice his happiness for my sake,” Amelia explained.
“What on earth is happening?” Landon was utterly confused. ‘The Meyers family is already trapped–acquiring the medicine is just a matter of time, How does this relate to Daniel’s happiness?‘ he pondered.
Amelia’s voice shook as she wept. “Honey, Daniel is marrying Edith just to get the medicine for me. That’s not the life he wants–I can’t allow him to sacrifice his happiness for mine!”
Landon chuckled as he handed her a tissue. “Relax, Daniel’s not a pushover. He’s got this under control.”
“The wedding date is set–they’ll be obtaining the marriage license in just a few days!” Amelia exclaimed anxiously, her voice shaking. “Honey, I need to see Daniel before he and Edith make it official.”
“Just call him,” Landon said calmly as he dialed a number without hesitation.
Amelia stared at him in disbelief. “Y–You have Daniel’s new number?”
Landon said casually, “Is that meant to be difficult?”
Amelia thought, ‘Wait, is it not?‘ It finally dawned on Amelia–she had been so flustered today that she completely overlooked something important. ‘If Maisie could have just told me the truth over the phone, why did she bother coming to Norava in person?‘
The call connected quickly, and Daniel’s warm voice was cheerful. “I hear you’re getting married, Daniel?” Landon asked.
“It’s just a temporary fix–nothing serious,” Daniel responded with a casual tone. He would not marry Edith. He would never relinquish the Zuckerberg family’s century–old business empire to appease Joanna.
“But Maisie came to see Amy,” Landon said, “and she scared her to tears.”
Daniel’s breath caught in his throat. He quickly responded, “Norava is your territory. Manage her as you think best.”
Landon let out a hearty laugh. “Alright, I won’t go easy. But trust me, the Meyers will be begging for you within three days.”
“What?” Daniel immediately thought of the unexpected shutdown of Project Azureveil, his suspicion growing. “Who the hell are you?”
“Me? I’m Landon, Amelia’s husband,” Landon said casually.
“Landon, I’m serious!” Daniel insisted.
“Me too,” was the casual reply from Landon.
Daniel was left speechless with frustration, How could anyone, even the head of the Zuckerberg family, possibly halt Project Azureveil and drive the Meyers out of Lunova?
“Are you still thinking my legs are a dealbreaker?” Landon teased with a laugh.
Daniel took a deep breath and replied solemnly, “I know some highly regarded doctors. I will assist in finding a solution.”
“Don’t waste your time. You can’t compete with me,” Landon retorted.

Although separated by thousands of miles, Landon’s words pierced Daniel’s heart, stinging both his pride and dignity. “Where’s Amy? Let me speak to her,” Daniel requested.
“Alright.” Landon replied and handed the phone to Amelia.
Amelia called out, her voice laced with anxiety. “Daniel, how are you? I’m ending the treatment–please, don’t give up your happiness for my sake
“Amy, trust me—I can handle this. Don’t feel burdened; Landon is assisting me,” Daniel said, though underneath it all, he felt a twinge of bitterness. He wasn’t just any guy–Landon was far more than a young entrepreneur. And naive Amelia remained completely unaware.
“Daniel,” Amelia declared resolutely. “If my health means sacrificing your unhappy marriage, then I refuse to accept that!”
“I understand, don’t worry!” Daniel narrowed his eyes. “Maisie was definitely up to no good when she visited you. Avoid seeing her again.”
“Alright,” Amelia sighed in relief that she had gone straight to Landon–otherwise, she would have fallen for Maisie’s trap. Even with a second chance, she still didn’t feel sharp enough.
“It seems I’ve pampered you so much that you’ve forgotten how dangerous people can be.” Landon pinched Amelia’s cheek, his expression serious and warning. “You trusted Maisie? How naive can you be?”
“I truly believe that Maisie genuinely cares about Daniel…” Amelia softly stated.
“If she truly cared about Daniel, she would have gone directly to the Meyers family for medicine. Why sneak off to Norava to find you?” Landon sneered. “Remember, aside from me and Daniel, never let your guard down around anyone else.”
“Even your mom?” Amelia joked, attempting to lighten the mood.
Landon answered without hesitation, “Absolutely.”
Amelia’s smile faded; she hadn’t anticipated his seriousness. She thought, ‘Gloria is truly wonderful–the best mother–in–law ever!*
Landon said, “She has no resistance when it comes to her grandkids, which makes her easily deceived. And when it comes to my sister, that’s where her blind spot lies.”
Amelia nodded. ‘Everyone has an Achilles‘ heel. Once someone strikes that vulnerable spot, it’s easy to lose my composure,‘ she reflected. Just like today–I nearly fell for Maisie’s trick! If I had gone to Lunova without telling Daniel, I would have walked straight into Maisie’s carefully laid trap!‘
“Please schedule a meeting with Maisie. I have some business to discuss with her,” Landon said.
