Jonas was lost in deep thought.
The brooding look on Jonas’s face held an irresistible charm.

“Mrs. Kingsley, he means us no harm,” Brooke said.
Amelia frowned, her delicate brows knitting in unease. “He’s strange and makes me feel more worried. He’s Kenneth’s lover, yet now he’s trying to get close to me. Don’t you think that’s odd?”
Brooke said, “It’s odd, but that’s just how the Meyers fami
has always been.”
Amelia stopped in her tracks. “Do you know the Meyers family well?”
Then, Amelia said as she led Brooke away, “I have other matters to attend to. Goodbye.”
The maiden surname of the current matriarch of the Zuckerberg family of Lunova was also Meyers. Amelia wondered if she was from the same Meyers family as Jonas.
A flicker of sorrow flashed across Brooke’s eyes, quickly masked. She said calmly, “The Vance and Meyers families had dealings in the past.”
“Then your family must be quite prominent and powerful,” Amelia remarked.
“That’s all in the past.”
Brooke smiled, but Amelia still caught the flash of desolation in her eyes.
Amelia wondered, ‘Brooke implied her family was once prominent, so how did she end up as Landon’s bodyguard? Could the Vance family have fallen on hard times?‘
That night, after their intimate moment, Amelia asked Landon about the Vance family.
Landon said, “The Vance family was rooted in Lunova and once flourished. Later, the Vance family declined. During a mission, Brooke’s father nearly died. I was the one who saved him.
“Later, to repay the favor, Brooke came with me to Norava to work as my bodyguard. Of course, this is also a way to protect her.”
“It’s all so complicated.” Amelia’s mind was overwhelmed.
She felt that all the prominent families in Lunova were complicated.
Amelia’s heart clenched at the thought of the Hughes family.

Her skin was so smooth and soft. He could never get enough of touching it.
“Mm,” Amelia murmured, nestling closer into his embrace,

She loved his scent and the reassuring strength of his presence. With him by her side, she felt completely secure.
“If the Hughes family doesn’t want me, I don’t have to go back, Amelia thought to herself.
“I ran into Jonas at the mall today. His attitude was weird. He was actually respectful to me.”
“Oh?” Landon was surprised.
Jonas, that prissy, pretty boy, always had an inflated ego. With just a bit of talent, he looked down on everyone except Kenneth.
Landon wondered what had gotten into him all of a sudden.
Amelia said, “Jonas kept staring at my ring. I think he’s figured out it’s actually a concealed weapon. Do you have another one I can switch to?”
“Not right now. I’ll have a new one custom–made for you in a few days,” Landon said.
Amelia’s eyes sparkled with interest. “You make them yourself?”
“Yeah.”
“Then can I watch you make it?”
Landon frowned slightly. His private workshop was a closely guarded secret.
But seeing the hopeful look in her eyes, Landon couldn’t bring himself to refuse. “Alright.”
“I’m so excited.” Amelia happily planted a kiss on his cheek. “Thank you, honey.”
Landon flipped Amelia onto her back, pinning her beneath him. “Thank me properly. None of that half–hearted stuff.”
Amelia was speechless.
After another passionate night with Landon, Amelia was completely spent and fell into a deep sleep.
Landon got up and headed to his study. He picked up a pen and paper and began sketching.
This time, he would craft an even more powerful concealed weapon for her–just in case.
Landon also ordered his men to keep Jonas under surveillance.
However, after days of surveillance, Jonas didn’t make a single suspicious move.
Landon couldn’t help but wonder, ‘What’s that pretty boy scheming now?‘
“Mr. Kingsley, Mr. Zuckerberg is here,” Aaron announced, knocking and entering the executive office.
Landon swiftly slipped the newly completed concealed weapon design into his drawer. “Please, come in.”
“Mr. Kingsley,” Daniel said as he entered, looking travel–worn and carrying a laptop bag.
Although he was still dressed in a suit, it was obvious he had lost weight since his last visit to Norava.
“Mr. Zuckerberg, please have a seat,” Landon said with measured calm. “Have you found a way to prove the Amber Vase was your mother’s heirloom?”

“It was not an heirloom, but her engagement gifts,” Daniel corrected.
Landon arched a brow. It seemed that Daniel still didn’t know that Debra was actually Catherine. He still thought his mother was alive.
“This is my mother’s engagement gifts list,” Daniel said as he unzipped his laptop bag. But instead of a computer, he pulled out a photo frame
Landon guessed it must be a photo of Catherine.
But it turned out that the exquisite frame didn’t hold a photograph, but an ancient sheet of red parchment.
Written above in shimmering gold leaf was Catherine’s engagement gifts, each character penned in delicate, masterful calligraphy by a renowned artist, showing just how grand her wedding must have been.
Among them was the Amber Vase.
“Mr. Kingsley,” Daniel said, “although the Amber Va

Landon asked, “Is the Magnolia Tiara an antique as well?”
“Yes. That’s an antique, now worth at least 70 million dollars,” Daniel stated solemnly.
The value and type matched perfectly. It was almost certainly the same tiara Debra left for Amelia.
By now, Landon was absolutely certain that Catherine was Amelia’s biological mother.
Landon handed the framed document back to Daniel and asked, “I heard the Zuckerberg family held a grand funeral for your mother.”
“You’ve certainly done your homework,” Daniel said, a flicker of annoyance crossing his refined face.
Of course, it made sense for Landon to investigate him. But digging this deep made Daniel feel downright infuriated.
“But you just claimed the Amber Vase wasn’t an heirloom, which contradicts the facts. Hence, I had to ask a few more questions.”
Landon’s sharp gaze locked onto Daniel, missing not even the slightest flicker of expression.
Daniel took a deep breath, suppressing his anger, and said solemnly, “Everyone claims my mother is dead, but I never believed it. After years of searching, I discovered her belongings in Pinecrest, so I came here.”
“I see.”
Landon couldn’t help but feel sympathy for Daniel./
He was only five or six years old the year Catherine supposedly died.
