Chapter 10
I missed our dog.
Justin texted me every two days, asking if I
wanted to see it.
I ignored him.
Justin said I was irresponsible.
Scarlett was in the shower.
I’ll wash your back, but just say, “Thank you.”
Five seconds later, she said, “Thank you.”
Am I her person?
Then I saw her profile picture. It was our dog.
I sent it to Justin.
He never understood my humor. How did he
get funnier after the divorce?
He said, “If you said ‘thank you,‘ come wash
my back.”
We used to wash each other’s backs, then we
kissed.
I shook my head and tried to erase the
memory.
Justin sent “?“. I ignored him.
I missed our dog, but I didn’t want to see him.
Scarlett came out, and we decided to do

Steal the dog.
It will be fun!
The weather was good.
I had a vision of being able to see our kid all
day long.
We went to the Hayes house.
Over the
I planned to jump wall, but Scarlett
said, “Don’t you know the password?”
“I know.”
“Then why are you climbing the wall?”
She opened the door.
Whe
We came face to face with our ex–mother-
in–law.
Scarlett pulled her hat down and changed her
voice. “Sorry, wrong house.”
But our dog smelled us and wagged its tail.
“Scarlett, Ava? Why don’t you come back to
see Mom? He and Owen are gone, come in!”
Scarlett dragged me away.
We were about to cry.
She was nice to us.
She was like a mother.
Justin sent a message. “If you want to see
the dog, tell my mom. But don’t steal it.
So embarrassing.
Now I was always visiting our mother–in–law
and she was very nice.
I never saw Justin.
But when I looked up, I saw his curtains were
always moving.
