Chapter 915
Although Werner was never acknowledged by anyone, Gary and Donald were at least half–brothers, and Gary was older than
Donald.
“Forget it. I won’t argue with you,” Gary said, trying not to make things worse, so he held back.
Gary took a deep breath and said to Donald, “Even if Irene withdraws the lawsuit now, it won’t help, because the direct victim is Jonathan. He needs to issue a letter of understanding in person.”
Donald finally calmed down, his clenched fists loosening, feeling a bit powerless. “How’s Jonathan holding up?” Donald
asked.
Gary shot back with a hint of sarcasm. “What do you think?”
Donald fell silent.
None of them could get any sleep that night. Everyone in the Lynn family was wide awake.
Teresa couldn’t sleep either. Jonathan hadn’t returned, and in the middle of the night, Michael woke up once, holding Teresa’s hand and vaguely asking about Jonathan.
Teresa gently reassured him that Jonathan would be back tomorrow, soothing him until he drifted off again.
The moon had just risen a few hours ago, but soon it was dawn. By six in the morning, a bright red sun was already visible. This was Teresa’s first time watching the sunrise; she usually couldn’t wake up early enough.
Michael woke up especially early too. The first thing he asked was, “Mom, is Mr. Lime back yet?”
Teresa shook her head. “No.”
The nanny finished preparing the food and called them over for a meal. Michael sniffled. “Mom, I don’t want to eat. I want to wait for Mr. Lime to come back so we can eat together.”
Teresa felt her nose sting with emotion. “Let’s eat first, sweetheart. If you’re good and finish your meal, he’ll come back.”
Michael quickly washed his hands and sat down at the table, eating obediently, and Teresa joined him. Even though she had no appetite, she still forced herself to eat a little.
The whole morning passed, and Jonathan still hadn’t come back. Teresa called Benny, but now he wasn’t answering her calls either. Now Teresa was completely isolated. She wasn’t allowed to know anything about what was happening outside, nor was she allowed to leave the house.
If Jonathan still wasn’t back by today, Teresa had two options. First, she would go to Eason next door and see if there was any way she could help or find a breakthrough.
Secondly, she would contact the police, as she told Benny, saying she used Jonathan’s computer for unauthorized operations. Being pregnant, even if guilty, she wouldn’t go to jail now.
In any case, she didn’t want to just watch Jonathan get into trouble. She desperately wished she could do something for him. Time seemed to drag on. Teresa had to admit that she missed Jonathan very much and wanted him to be safe and sound.
Even if Irene started yelling at her right now, she could put up with it. If a few harsh words from Irene could bring Jonathan back, she wouldn’t mind at all. She just desperately wished he could come back right away, safe and sound.
Just then, Jennifer’s phone rang. It was Evelyn calling. “What happened? I just saw the news about Jonathan. Did he really

break the law? No way, he’d never do something illegal, right?”
Teresa felt her nose sting as she choked up, barely able to say, “Mom…”
Evelyn grew anxious. “What’s going on? Oh no, it’s not something really bad, is it?”

Teresa didn’t say a word. Yesterday, no matter how her friends asked or tried to comfort her, she kept saying she was fine and never shed a tear. But now, at this moment, she finally broke down and couldn’t hold back her tears anymore.
