Irene choked on her words and couldn’t say a thing. Benny patted Gary on the shoulder. “I’ll go see what’s going on at the Department of Justice. I’ll leave things here to you.” 

“Got it.” Gary nodded. 

Benny picked up Michael and left. Seeing Gary there, Irene stood up. “Where are you going?” Gary grabbed Irene. “Now I have to keep an eye on you for Jonathan.” 

Irene shook Gary’s grip. “Seriously, you’re even more annoying than your mom. Can’t I just go to the bathroom?” With that, she turned and walked away. 

Meanwhile, Teresa realized Michael was missing. She asked the nanny, but the nanny just looked totally lost and shook her head, having no clue at all. 

‘How could a kid go missing right under our noses? If he’s really gone, we’re totally done for, the nanny thought. 

The nanny was about to burst into tears, and the security guard at the entrance looked even more panicked. He swore he hadn’t seen Michael at all. ‘How could he just disappear like that?‘ they wondered. 

The villa has tight security, and private residences are strictly off–limits to outsiders. Even an ant would need to pass through surveillance to leave. A child could not leave without the security guards noticing. 

Checked the security cameras. That was when Teresa saw Michael had slipped into Gary’s car while she was distracted talking to him. Then Gary drove off. 

‘So Michael must be with Gary at the police station, right?‘ Teresa wondered. 

Teresa tried calling Gary, but he didn’t pick up. She waited for a while, but she just couldn’t wait any longer. She was already worried sick about Jonathan and Jennifer, and now Michael was missing too. 

Teresa was stopped by security guards at the gate. Jonathan had instructed that she must not leave unless there was an earthquake, fire, or tsunami. Her body couldn’t handle any more stress. 

Teresa stood her ground at the gate, facing off against the security guard. “Please, just let me go. I’ll be back really soon. I’m just going to pick up my kid and come right back.” 

“I’m sorry, Ms. Johnston, but you absolutely can’t leave,” the guard said firmly. 

“I promise I’ll be back really soon,” Teresa insisted. But the guard wasn’t budging this time. 

Suddenly, a car pulled up. Teresa fixed her gaze on the black Bentley. At that moment, she desperately hoped it was Jonathan getting out. But she was disappointed. The window rolled down slowly, and it was Yalena sitting inside. 

“Oh, look at you, pregnant and still daring to step outside. You’d better stay home and behave yourself. Don’t get yourself arrested like your hubby did, Yalena said smugly. 

Then she turned to Eason beside her. “Dad, this is the infamous ex–wife of Jonathan I told you about. Wait—” 

Yalena bit out the words. “Turns out they got back together, so now she’s Mrs. Lynn. 

Eason gave Teresa another look. It was his first time seeing Teresa. She really was a pretty girl. But for some reason, Eason felt like her face looked oddly familiar. 

Eason sneered, “When disaster strikes, even married couples go their separate ways. You’re pregnant, maybe you should

Eason glanced at Teresa and thought, ‘Really? She honestly didn’t seem like that kind of girl.
