Chapter 908
‘Under investigation?‘ Teresa was stunned, unable to believe what she just heard. Her legs nearly gave out from shock. Jonathan quickly stacked bo the waist and said calmly, “I’m fine. Don’t worry.”
‘How could I not worry? Why would they suddenly want to investigate him, and at such a critical moment? There’s no way Jonathan would ever Break the law. He’s just not that kind of person,‘ Teresa thought anxiously.
“Mr. Lynn, let’s go,” the prosecutor said, ready to take Jonathan away.
Suddenly, the sound of rapid footsteps echoed through the room. “Daddy. Daddy,” Michael shouted, running down the stairs as fast as his little lega could carry him. He stood protectively in front of Jonathan.
“Officer, please don’t take my daddy. My daddy is a good person. He’s not a bad guy.” Michael pleaded.
“Mike,” Jonathan said, picking him up and comforting him. “Daddy’s fine. Just because they’re investigating me doesn’t mean I did anything wrong. I’ll be back soon, okay?”
“Really? You’re not just saying that, are you?” Michael asked, clinging tightly to Jonathan and refusing to let go. His tears burned Jonathan’s neck like hot coals.
Jonathan gently stroked his head and reassured him. “Trust me, I’ll be back soon.” He wasn’t just saying this to Michael, but also to Teresa.
Teresa fought back her fear and took Michael from Jonathan’s arms. “Mike, your daddy is fine. We’ll wait for him to come home.”
Michael looked up at Jonathan through his tears, reaching out desperately with his little hands, trying to hold onto him again.
“You go ahead. We’re not leaving without you,” Teresa said firmly. ‘Now that something’s happened to him, there’s no way I could just walk away, Teresa thought, her heart resolute.
“You guys should still go on Tuesday as planned. Don’t worry about me. I’ll clear my name,” Jonathan said, giving Teresa a reassuring hug.
He held her hand, his warm, dry palm pulling away from her cold, trembling fingers. Even though his touch was steady and reassuring, her hands still
shook.
Right then, Jonathan was filled with guilt. At such a dangerous moment, he couldn’t protect her. All he could do was let go and tell her again, “Trust me.”
“Promise me, don’t go outside, no matter what.” Jonathan reminded Teresa again and again before he left.
He knew exactly who was targeting him–Eason. This was no accident, not at such a critical time. Eason was definitely involved. In the ruthless world of business, you can’t always come out unscathed.
Eason had been in the business world for years, and the Kelly Group was a force to be reckoned with. Jonathan, despite his rapid rise in just a few years, couldn’t possibly dominate the scene alone.
Yet, Eason chose to target him at this very moment, which was particularly devious.
The people from the Department of Justice took Jonathan away. “Daddy! Mr. Lime Daddy,” Michael cried, trying to chase after Jonathan again, but Teresa held him back.
Michael was so anxious he bounced on the spot, wishing he could turn into Superman and rescue Jonathan. Teresa saw his eyes glued to the direction of the car Jonathan had left in, so she hugged the little guy tightly.
“Mike, don’t look. He’ll be back soon,” she said softly.
“Mommy.” Michael sobbed, burying his face in Teresa’s chest. “Mr.Lime is so nice. Why did the police have to take him away? I don’t want anything bad to happen to Mr. Lime,”

Chapter 908
When Jonathan was still here, Teresa managed to hold back her tears. But now that he was gone, her eyes turned red. All she could do puas ke Michael over and over, “He’s going to be okay. Don’t worry, sweetheart. Daddy will be fine.”
Michael clung to Teresa, crying for what felt like forever. It was the first time Teresa had ever seen her son cry so heartbreakingly, and honestly st just as scared and anxious as he was.
She couldn’t help but wonder if Jonathan had pissed off someone just as powerful as he was. Otherwise, no one in flareight would dare to provoke him.
