“The doctor said it’s better to observe you closely-” Jonathan started. Before he could finish, Teresa impatiently brushed his hand away.
“I never had to stay in the hospital this many times when I was pregnant with Mike. Even though I was physically exhausted, at least I was free in my mind. I’ve never felt this stifled before,” she said.
Jonathan frowned and asked patiently, “What happened? Who’s making you feel this way?”
Teresa replied, “I just ran into Yalena in the restroom. I have no grudge against her. We’ve always minded our own business. If it weren’t for you, she wouldn’t have come after me, and I wouldn’t have to feel so suffocated.
“Once I have this baby, I won’t let anyone around you affect me ever again. Honestly, it’d be best if we just stayed out of each other’s lives for good.” She spun around and stormed off.
Jonathan froze for a moment, then hurried after her. “Wait. Where are you going?”
Teresa was already in the elevator. Jonathan was a step too late. He jumped into the next elevator and shot downstairs. He caught up to her and grabbed her by the wrist.
“Let go of me,” Teresa demanded, her voice tense.
“Calm down. It’s so late. Where are you even going?” Jonathan held onto her wrist firmly, but was careful not to hurt her. No matter how much she
struggled, he refused to let go.
Teresa said, “I’m going home. I don’t want to stay in the hospital. I’m not that weak.”
“Alright, we’ll go home. Whatever you want,” Jonathan said. “But first, tell me what exactly Yalena does to you?”
“She didn’t bully me. She called my mom loose, so I slapped her,” Teresa replied.
“As long as you weren’t bullied,” Jonathan said, his brow relaxed a bit. Still, he shot a worried glance at her belly.
“The baby’s fine. It’s not worth risking my health or the baby’s over someone like her,” Teresa explained, forcefully breaking free from Jonathan’s hold and turning to leave again.

“I’m really fine,” Teresa replied, her face showing no sign of distress. “And I meant every word I said earlier.”
