“Yeah, the strap on the last one I gave you was already falling apart. Why are you still wearing it?” Teresa had actually planned to give him the new one that afternoon, but he’d been sleeping like a log.
“How much did it cost?” he asked, eyeing the Omega watch.
Teresa replied, “It cost six figures. My mom recommended it and even pitched in 10 thousand. If you don’t like it, just say so.”
Two weeks ago, Evelyn mentioned that Jonathan had helped a lot by arranging Lucas’s hospitalization and finding a doctor for him in Jarisburg. She suggested that Teresa should buy Jonathan a watch as a token of appreciation.
When Jonathan heard that, he said, “I didn’t say I didn’t like it, but we can’t accept Mom’s money. You should give it back to her.”
Teresa replied, “I know, but I’m a bit short on cash this month. I’ll pay her back next month when I have some money.”
Jonathan thought for a moment. “Mom’s birthday is at the end of the month, right? I’ll just pay her back then.”
“Whatever,” Teresa said.
Suddenly, Teresa remembered something. “Hold on, who are you calling Mom? It’s just us here, you don’t have to keep pretending.”
Jonathan let out a cold snort, a mocking smirk tugging at his lips, but he didn’t bother to explain. Suddenly, Jonathan seemed to remember something. “Did you ask me something just now? I can’t remember.”
Teresa’s expression didn’t change at all. “I didn’t ask you anything. You’re definitely drunk.”
She got up to leave his room, but Jonathan suddenly grabbed her wrist and yanked her back down beside him. He extended his wrist toward her. “Help me put it on.”
“Can’t you put it on yourself?” she grumbled, but still fastened the watch for him.
She was so close that Jonathan arched an eyebrow. “Just one birthday present?”
“What else do you want?” She shot back. She had barely lifted her head when he kissed her. His lips, cool and damp, pressed against hers, quickly making her lips wet.
He caught her hand, his long fingers threading through hers, their fingers lacing tightly together. She couldn’t help but close her eyes.
Jonathan pulled back from the kiss, his hand brushing the corner of her mouth as he teased. “Come on, admit it. Every time I kiss you, you always kiss me back, and you’re pretty into it, aren’t you?”
Teresa really couldn’t stand that cocky look on his face, and it annoyed her even more that she just couldn’t help herself around him.
Just last night before bed, she had scrolled past a video where a doctor said that a woman could actually have even stronger physical needs during pregnancy than before, and that it was totally normal. ‘So it’s not just me going crazy,‘ she thought.
“It’s just how women like me react, okay? If some other handsome guy kissed me, I’d probably melt just the same.” She shot back.
Jonathan’s face darkened. “Oh? So you’ve actually seen someone better looking than me? What, should I go find you a hotter guy or something?”
“Sure, why not? I’m sick of looking at your face anyway.” She shot back.
“Fine, if you want to go find another guy, then I’m confiscating your card,” Jonathan said.”
Teresa blinked in confusion. What the heck is a spouse card?‘ she wondered.
She followed his gaze and only then realized that, at some point, he’d slipped a card into the pocket of her pajamas without her even noticing.

Jonathan let out a cold snort. “There’s 60 million dollars in there. Think you can actually spend it all? I bet you can’t. If you do, I’ll admit you’re something else.”
Teresa pinched the gold card between her fingers.

“Alright then, try spending it all in three months. Buy whatever you want. Just don’t go out looking for another guy.” With that, he leaned in and kissed her hard on the lips again.
Teresa pushed him away. “I’m pregnant. How am I supposed to find another guy? Who would even want a pregnant woman like me?”
Jonathan’s eyes roamed over her gorgeous face, creamy skin, and that killer body of hers. Aside from her baby bump, nothing about her had changed. His gaze grew darker. “You have no idea how attractive you really are.”
As he said that, he slowly led her hand down.
