Chapter 861
Chapter 861
Hearing the pounding on the door, Irene frowned and walked over impatiently to open it again. “Teresa, are you done yet?”
She didn’t even finish her sentence before swallowing the rest of her words.
Irene froze, stunned, as she stared at the tall, familiar man standing before her.
“J–Jonathan, aren’t you supposed to be on a business trip in Eleneburg? Why are you back?” she stammered.
With a chilling calmness she’d never heard from him before, Jonathan asked, “What do you think?”
Irene swallowed hard. Jonathan fixed his eyes on her, his gaze so cold it was almost hateful, staring her down without looking away.
In that moment, Irene panicked. She stepped forward, trying to grab Jonathan’s hand. “Jonathan, listen to me-“
But Jonathan yanked his hand away from her. “I don’t want to hear it. Where’s Mike?” he demanded.
Irene burst into tears immediately. Sobbing, she tried to explain, “I missed my grandson. That’s why I brought Mike here to stay for a few days. Since Teresa was in the hospital anyway, I thought-“.
“Enough, I don’t want to hear any of this nonsense. Where is Mike? Hand him over right now,” Jonathan cut her off and said.
Behind Jonathan, rain poured down in torrents, drenching everything outside. A bolt of lightning split the sky, and Irene shuddered, scared by the look on Jonathan’s face.
The flickering lightning outside lit up his chiseled, handsome face, making his expression look even more chilling and cold.
Terrified, Irene blurted out, “Mike is upstairs in his room. He’s sleeping.”
Jonathan turned to Teresa, the harshness on his face fading away. He looked at her with steady gentleness.
“Wait for me right here. I’ll go upstairs and carry Mike down to you,” he said softly. Teresa nodded.
Then, Jonathan grabbed Irene’s wrist and pulled her to the side.
“Stay three meters away from her. From now on, you’re not allowed to go anywhere near Teresa and Mike ever again,” Jonathan barked.
Irene was so frightened that she dropped straight to the floor.
Jonathan strode upstairs, opening each door in turn. When he saw Michael sleeping soundly, he breathed a deep sigh of relief.
He walked over and picked up the sleeping Michael in his arms.
Michael caught a whiff of that familiar cool scent, rubbed his eyes, and woke up all groggy and confused.
“Mr. Lime, why are you here? Am I dreaming or something?” he mumbled.
“Your mom is waiting for you downstairs. I’ll carry you to her,” Jonathan said gently.
The moment Michael heard Teresa was here, he instantly snapped awake.
The moment Teresa saw Michael being carried downstairs, she couldn’t help but rush forward. Then Teresa shouted, “Mike!”
“Mom!” Michael called out.
Jonathan set Michael down, and Michael immediately hugged Teresa. She couldn’t help but hug him back.

“Mom, was it the nice police officer who called you to come pick me up?” Michael cried.
“Yes, sweetheart, the police called me,” Teresa said, tears streaming down her face as she gently stroked his cheek. “I’m so sorry, baby I came too t and made you worry.”
Even though Jonathan had no idea how the police managed to call Teresa, each scene was like a knife stabbing into his heart, again and again.
The woman he loved and his child felt scared all because of his mother.
His eyes were ten times colder, sharp
an
blade, as he stared at Irene.
He said slowly, each word sharp as a blade, “Unless Teresa says otherwise, you can forget about ever seeing the child for the rest of your life.
Irene froze, her sobs growing louder and more desperate. “You can’t do this to me, Jonathan,” she cried out.
