Teresa sat on the bed with a flash of guilt flickering in her eyes.
She thought, ‘I shouldn’t have said that. Even if it’s just for the baby, at least he’s been running around taking care of me while I’m in the hospital. I really shouldn’t have snapped at him.’
She was exhausted. She lay down and tried to get some sleep. She wasn’t sure if Jonathan was really waiting outside, but somehow, she couldn’t help but want to believe him.
When he said, “It wasn’t me. I didn’t know anything about this. Do you believe me?” she already trusted him deep down.
But trusting him didn’t mean she trusted his mom. She couldn’t possibly trust Irene, who desperately wanted her to disappear.
