Chapter 827
Teresa had just gotten out of the shower when her phone iang. It was Miriam calling. “Have you found out who’s behind all this yet?” Miriam asked.
Teresa fell silent for a while before replying vaguely, “I’ll take care of it. I’m heading back to Hareigh tomorrow. I promise I won’t let anything happen to the company.”
Miriam sighed. “Teresa, I’m not worried about the company. I’m worried about you! You’re pregnant, and you flew to Jarisburg all by yourself, with no one by your side. How could I not be worried?”
Teresa had an impulse to cry. “I’m sorry, Miriam. I just didn’t want you to shoulder this alone. I know whoever’s behind this is targeting me, I don’t want to drag you or any innocent people into it.”
Minam asked, “Then who could it be? It couldn’t be Jennifer, right? No way…”
Teresa replied, “It’s not her. It should be someone else. Let’s talk about it when I’m back tomorrow.”
Miriam nodded. “Alright. It’s getting late. You should get some rest. Are you staying at a hotel tonight? Is that hotel safe? Since you’re by yourself, make sure you lock the door tight.”
“Okay, good night,” Teresa replied, not bothering to explain much before hanging up.
She sat on the bed, staring blankly into space. Just thinking about the mess at the company made her anxious all over again. She pressed her hand to her forehead, feeling completely overwhelmed.
A knock sounded on the door. Teresa didn’t respond. Then it sounded again several more times.
“I know you’re still up. 1 made you some late–night snacks. Aren’t you hungry? Come out and have some food, okay?” Jonathan called from outside.
“No, I’m not hungry. I’m going to sleep,” Teresa replied.
Jonathan fell silent. Then he let out a sigh and knocked again. “Then at least have some milk before you go to bed. I’ve warmed it up for you.”
After he finished speaking, he just pushed the door open and came in. Teresa was already lying in bed. She turned her back to him, refusing to even look
at him.
Jonathan set the pasta and warmed milk down on the nightstand beside her bed and said, “Try to eat a little. You were on the plane for hours and then waited for me at the gate for so long. You must be starving.”
After he said that, Teresa did start to feel hungry. Maybe it was the baby who was hungry. She propped herself up to sit, and Jonathan moved to help her, but Teresa pushed his hand away. She could manage on her own.
Jonathan stared at her, checking out how thin she was. Some women who were six months pregnant all had bellies round and huge like balloons, but Teresa was barely showing, just a tiny bump, nothing obvious at all.
He remembered the doctor explaining the difference between anterior and posterior pregnancies, but she wasn’t even putting on any weight. Honestly, it was driving him crazy.
Teresa had barely eaten a couple of bites of pasta when she suddenly jumped out of bed, pushed Jonathan aside, and ran straight to the bathroom to
throw up.
“What’s going on? Why are you throwing up?” Jonathan asked while patting her back with concern. He wondered, ‘Is it food poisoning? But I used all fresh ingredients.’
Teresa just shook her head, brushed his arm away, and kept throwing up at the sink. Only when her stomach felt completely empty did she finally grab a cup and rinse out her mouth.
Jonathan had already grabbed his car keys, draped his jacket over her shoulders, and wrapped an arm around her. “Come on, I’m taking you to the

“No, I’m fine. Teresa said.
“Fine? You just throw up your guts. How is that fine?” Jonathani snatched up a towel and gently wiped her mouth. His eyes were filled with worry and anxiety, which dazed Teresa for a moment.
She was about to refuse again, but before she could get the words out, Jonathan had already swept her off her feet and carried her in his arms. Then they rushed straight to the hospital.
