After hanging up, Teresa made a stop at the hospital first. But Evelyn and Lucas had already left the hospital. She was just a step too late. The ward was already empty.
The nurse, noticing Teresa’s pregnant belly, couldn’t help but worry about her. She asked, “Are you looking for someone? Maybe you should give them a call and check?”
Teresa called Evelyn, who said, “Teresa, Lucas has already been discharged. We’re packing our things and about to head to the airport.”
“You’re heading back to Nareigh?” Teresa asked.
“Yeah, aren’t you in Nareigh?” Evelyn replied.
“I’m actually in Jarisburg now. I thought you guys were still here, so I came by the hospital to see Lucas,” Teresa said, running her hand through her long
hair.
Evelyn let out a surprised gasp. “Oh, you silly girl! Well, you should hurry back. We’re just about to leave.”
Teresa said, “Okay. Once you get to the airport, stop by my office first. Mike is in my lounge. My secretary is watching him while he sleeps. Just pick him up and take him back to Rosary Estates.
“Let Lucas stay there for now. When I get back, I’ll arrange a place for you to stay.”
Evelyn said, “Okay.”
Just as Teresa was about to hang up, she suddenly asked, “Oh, do you know where Jonathan is? Is he heading back to Nareigh with you?”
“Jonathan went off to take care of some business. I think he’s attending a business party at Prosper Group,” Evelyn replied.
Teresa replied, “Got it.”
After hanging up, Teresa didn’t even have a second to feel sad or take a break. She pulled out her phone, quickly found the address of the business party, and then flagged down a taxi to go there.
By the time she arrived, the city was just coming alive with lights. The grand building was ablaze with activity, and the opulent first–floor lobby was buzzing with distinguished guests.
Jonathan, with one hand casually in his pocket and dressed in a deep black suit, moved with ease among the city’s elite businessmen.
There was a faint smile on his face, but it was never quite genuine–more like a mask of courtesy and distance.
“Mr. Lynn, I’ve heard so much about you. Here’s my business card…” All around, business owners eager to collaborate with Horizonlead Group came up
to him.
Jonathan accepted their cards and played along with their small talk, but he could see right through their ambitions and schemes.
With Horizonlead Group’s current success, he was the one calling the shots now, picking and choosing who was worthy of working with him.
“Let’s talk business in detail some other time,” Jonathan said with a polite smile, raising his glass for a toast. The other man made sure his glass was lower than Jonathan’s–a clear sign he knew who was in charge.
But in his heart, he was thinking, ‘Man, this guy is tough to crack.‘ He couldn’t help but pull out every trick he had, hoping to win Jonathan over.
Jonathan’s phone buzzed again. He excused himself and stepped aside to answer, but then he saw it was just someone from the company, not Teresa.
He thought, ‘It’s been a whole day, and she still hasn’t even tried to contact me.‘

“Mr. Lynn, tomorrow is the regular board meeting should we postpone it?” the caller asked.
“No need. I’ll be back in Näreigh tomorrow,” Jonathan replied.
“Okay, Mr. Lynn.” the one replied.
After hanging up, Jonathan scrolled to Teresa’s number and glanced at it a couple of times, frowning. Then he put his phone back into his pocket.
Outside the building, Teresa stepped out of the taxi and glanced up at the sign. When she spotted “Horizonlead Group” on the list, her frown finally relaxed. She thought, ‘He really is here.!
When she was about to go in, the security guard at the entrance stopped her. “Ma’am, do you have an invitation?”
Teresa shook her head and quickly said, “No, I don’t have an invitation. I’m just here to see someone.”
“Doesn’t matter who you’re here to see. If you have no invitation, you can’t get in,” the security guard said.
